We stay at the Island Inn (the Kimball lodge specifically) for 2 nights and found our stay very pleasant. The room was very nice, maybe just a little on the small size though. Queen bed, good sized fridge, microwave, nice bathroom etc. The grounds are the really attraction, only a very short walk to the beach which is wonderful. Beach is beautiful and pretty quite as well. The grounds also have a heated pool and many things to do and are very well maintained. The staff is very friendly and helpful and we very much enjoyed your stay. The breakfast was the only minor con. It a very light breakfast, pastries, fruit, hard boiled eggs etc. Nothing hot so make sure to plan accordingly. I'd highly recommend this hotel and would gladly stay again.

We loved our stay at Kimball Lodge #305 condo at Island Inn. It is a very nice condo, very close to the beach, they have beach towels, beach toys, beach chairs/umbrellas and a cooler for use on the beach! Very helpful since I didn't have enough room in my luggage for a beach towel! The managers in charge are very quick to respond to questions. It is close to restaurants, maybe only a 15 minute drive. There is also a restaurant at the Island Inn, but we didn't go there as we had other places we wanted to try!
But…certain things need to be updated here: the toaster isn't even from this decade and it burns one side of your toast and leaves the other side raw/not toasted. :( We're lucky our bread didn't catch on fire, it burned it so bad! (I did contact them after our vacation to let them know it was faulty.) There's no pizza cutter or pizza pan/baking sheet really suitable for a pizza, it's not that big of a deal, but I thought people should know. There is also no dishwasher here either (just to let people know, as it's been said before), but there isn't really much room to put one in the kitchen either. My friend and I took turns washing dishes, so not a real big deal. They could use a few more plates only 4 large and 4 small (they had a bunch of glasses though!). They also had a nice selection of spices (salt, pepper, cumin, etc. I don't remember all of them). The plastic chairs on the lanai could be changed to something a bit more comfortable. I see now that the lanai can be in the direct path of rain but you can't relax in a chair that sits up right. Plastic Adirondack chairs would be nice here instead especially since I just wanted to relax on the lanai, listen to the ocean and read my book! The lanai could use a ceiling fan, as it does not really get much of the ocean breeze, since it is on the side of the building and can become extremely hot. We actually thought our lanai was hotter than it actually was outside! The sofa in the living room area could be changed to something other than white, as there were a lot of stains on the seat cushions and I felt like we sank to the floor sitting on it. The beds were pretty comfy but the pillows could be changed. I didn't feel like they supported my neck at all and I doubled them up.
There is a nice high efficiency washer and dryer in the hallway in the unmarked door directly across from the elevator and to the left of the stairs. The key for it is in your welcome binder. I wish they would have specified which door was for the laundry. I opened the janitor's closet with my key and felt awkward trying to open all the doors at the end of the hallway by the elevator.
Overall, I think I'd definitely stay here again! I'd give this condo a 4.5/5 but just some minor things that may be me just being a bit picky! Sorry! >__response / report this review -

Charming beachfront historic property that also offers modern rooms/suites. Be sure to check out the restaurant, Traditions. The food is INCREDIBLE!!! Also, the bartender Carlos is a cool guy to chat with

Stayed Sept 24 - 26. Greeted by Jerry in office. Very pleasant office staff. Grounds were spotless and beautiful. Our room was gorgeous. Good view of ocean. Beach beautiful. Due to Irma, water was murky and the no-see-ims we're overwhelming. But with bug spray we did our shelling. Sunrises and sunsets we're magnificent. Marisol was the perfect breakfast hostess. Pool was perfect. Loved it. Will be back !

Location, location, location. The Island Inn has a great beach and is convenient to everything on Sanibel. It's a beach location and sand gets everywhere, so don't expect luxury.

It was a rainy day in Florida, go figure, so we loaded up in the car and just drove. Impromptu stop for drinks, in turned into the best stop of the night. Aside from the tourist stuff, a bubble place and something about a duck, this place has history. They have scrap books dating back to the 40s with some really stuff. The formal dining room was closed when we were there but the dirty martini were possibly the best we've ever had. It's all we could talk about, next trip we all decided we are going back for more highly recommend.

An amazing place to stay. The rooms are very clean and roomy. The animals they make out of towels is a work of art. We loved it. And the view and the beach is spectacular. Their staff is very courteous and makes every guest feel special. And don't forget the restaurant called Traditions, it's amazing.

Last year I called the property to say I was getting married and wanted to get married on the beach in front of one of the cottages we planned to book.It would very informal- 12- 14 people TOTAL in attendance including myself and groom. I asked if there was a permit needed and was told no.We would step out on the beach and get married at sundown and a family member would officiate. The person I talked with was welcoming and asked me if we would be eating at the restaurant. I made a reservation for 14 people- no set menu, for after we got married.The person I talked with explained that there was another wedding party at the restaurant that night and that there would be plenty of room for us and them. She took my reservation. So now there are a total of two employees that I talked with about getting married at the hotel property.
When we arrived at the hotel to check in the woman that was at the front desk was absolutely rude and downright nasty to me and my now husband. She accused us of not notifying the hotel that we were getting married and " going through the proper channels". This was so upsetting to me.
We spent more than $5,000 at this Inn ( between the three cottages and 2 hotels and post wedding dinner for 14 people.
This was so upsetting to have to check into the hotel where you are going to get married and spend 4 nights to have been treated this way.
At no time did ANYONE ever apologize for this awful behavior.response / report this review -

Really enjoyed the stay and the staff was very friendly. Place was really clean, no issues. I would definitely go back.
