I’d left a prized possession of mine hanging on the back of the bathroom door in a hotel in Sanibel. It was a Led Zeppelin belt buckle with a Jimi Hendrix axis of love vintage belt and a pair of jeans. The Levis', I could care less about, but oh, that belt. I've had it for years and I'm completely obsessed with it. I left a Fendi bag in a hotel in San Francisco. Bummer, but it didn't really upset me. I've lost other nice stuff, but c'est la vie. This belt. I've been in a foul and depressed mood ever since I realized what I'd done. After many unsuccessful calls to The Sunset Beach Inn in Sanibel, I tried one last time. After all, that belt was of little value (unless you were sayvy enough to look on eBay) to anyone else but me. Well, as it turns out, the house keeper found it and put it away in a safe place. Because she had Sunday and Monday off, no one knew about it. My last ditch call on Tuesday paid off. The housekeeper had turned it over to the manager on Tuesday morning and he immediately sent it off to me!!! Oh, joy. There are honest, caring people out there.

The inn is not fancy (we did, however, score a 2 bedroom suite on the beach), but it is clean, well cared for, has a great location. enormous pool, sits on the beach, has lovely complementary breakfast baskets every morning, and the nicest, most caring, polite staff you could imagine. Complementary bikes and use of a nearby golf and tennis club and of course a rocking shuffle board court. (This has turned into an add.) This place is not the Ritz or Four Seasons with their depressing corporate Queen Ann furniture, bourgeois "classy" environment, robotic staff and highly over rated grounds and and dining. The Sanibel Sunset Beach Inn made us feel at home. It was laid back, relaxed and very low key. The staff took care of your every need and were genuinely happy to do so.
And they were honest enough to take care of my belongings and thoughtful enough to FedEx them to me without even asking.

    Happy, Happy, Happy!

I will not stay anywhere else on the Island.🐚

Great place and great view. They do serve breakfast. My only concern is that I get one basket with one bagel, one milk, etc. I am not sure if that is sufficient for two people. I guess I will just have to go to dounkin donughts tomorrow. So disappointed.

Great hotel! The rooms are very spacious and some have kitchenettes. Your room includes free use of bicycles, paddle boards, kayaks, and chairs and umbrellas on the beach. Huge pool, shuffleboard and even a shell cleaning station. To top it off, they deliver you a breakfast in a basket each day, which includes granola bars, cereal, pastries, milk, and OJ. Cannot say enough good things about this place.

Stains on carpet, bed, and curtains. Great location, close to some kayaking and paddle boarding places. Breakfast baskets were okay, a couple of them had ants crawling all over. I took the basket to the front desk to ask for some raid for clean my room, there wasn't any available. Front desk said they would have maintenance come and clean the ants up. The next day there were still ants everywhere.

Average facility, clean for the most part. I was very upset about the first room we were assigned. The patio faced the pool pump house. I might not have been so upset except the place wasn't crowded. I complained and they moved us to a better room.
One day on the beach the umbrellas were not put out. We had to call the office several times to get some one to put them out..
Otherwise, the staff was friendly. We did enjoy our stay and we would probably go back.

Nice, big room. Nice pool. Right on the beach, but the way the building sits on the lot, you get no beach view from the room.
The breakfast basket was nice, but not enough for a full breakfast. They gave milk and juice but the mini fridge didn't seem like it was cold enough to keep the drinks cold.
Some rooms have mini kitchens. Full fridge, stove and oven. Ours just had a mini fridge and microwave.
    Lots of bikes to use.

The stars are purely for the views and amenities. They are steps off the beautiful beach, their pool is giant. As a guest you have access to bikes and paddle boards. The hotel itself is an entirely different story. We had a 4:00 check in but we got to Sanibel early and asked if we could check in early but the room wasn't ready and that is totally understandable so we drove around and did some shopping to kill time untilI n 4 rolled around and we went back to check in. Room still not ready. We weren't able to check in until 5 and that was annoying. We unpacked finally and the room was sweltering. We figured the air had been turned off while the room was being cleaned. It was already set to 54 Fahrenheit though so we thought the maids turned it on just before they left and it hasn't had a chance to cool down yet. So we left it full blast, went to the pool and dinner and we came back at 10pm. The room was still really hot. We tried to sleep but the bed was hard and the pillows were flat and with the room being hot, it was a bad combination. We went to the front desk and asked for a box fan. They said they didn't have one and they couldn't do anything about the AC until morning. It was only a weekend o.ovacation for us and we wanted to wake up early so we could enjoy a full day on sanibel but it was already 1 am and there was no sleep in sight. Out of desperation we called another inn and we were able to check in even though it was the middle of the night. We packed up our stuff and we left. I don't recommend this place! We chose it because it was the cheapest option and you totally get what you pay for here. For only 20 more a night we are staying at another resort and it is way nicer.

On the less traveled side of the island but within 2 miles of coffe and grocery stores. Great beach with very few people.

Breakfast is big, cereal, bagels, croissants, yogurt, creamcheese, milk and OJ daily sent to our room. More than we can drink eat. We typically eat breakfast use some of the leftovers for lunch along with some lunch meat and fruit and then Splurge for dinner.

Tennis, shuffle board, free bikes, personal boats, warm pool and clean.

    Best part? Daily room service!

Quiet and pleasant. Nothing extravagant. The beach is right here. Bike trails are great and that makes it easy to see the attractions on the island. Free bikes!!!
