Easily some of the best sushi I’ve ever had in my life, and at an extremely affordable price. My serve, Rita was also very friendly and efficient. Overall great experience, can’t wait to come back!

Worst service I've had in a long time. Server training is maybe non-existent, visible chaos throughout the night, and absurdly long ticket-times. Don't recommend you come here if you value any type of service. The food was the only thing good about our visit, maybe order carry-out if you want to try them.

Martin was our chef. He was energetic and fun. Food was good. Had the shrimp and steak. Would go back to also try the sushi.

Great Place love the chef servers are amazing. Best part they have this whole bamboo Style Japanese Dojo look which mixes with the modern grills and the seating area is properly decorated with minimal pictures which provide a great contrast between food and environment.

The hibachi was very good, service excellent. It's pricey but no more than your average hibachi place. The special flavored sake were also good and not that expensive at all ($7 a bottle).

Nicely decorated with decent bar area. Sushi is really good. Especially the spicy tuna and shrimp tempura rolls. Very resonably priced. They also have more private type booths set up as well. Great place for delicious food

Our favorite restaurant by far and we live 30 minutes away. Martin is the BEST of the cooks, very entertaining and engaging. We have been patrons of Ichiban for years and go there every few weeks for either lunch or dinner.

The good: The fried rice was very good. The steak was cooked to the proper doneness.

The bad: We were on the hibachi side and had extremely poor service from our waitress (and waiter she was training). On top of not getting refills until after our meal was over the people we were seated with repeatedly asked for a side of Japanese mayo which was never brought to them. We were seated by the drape that hangs between the kitchen and the dining area and were getting very cold. They had the back door open and it was around 30 F outside. When we asked them to close it they did..for a while and then it was opened and got cold again. Also, due to us sitting by the curtain we could see all the servers standing around and eating food as the curtain was always blowing open and being moved. That just doesn't look good and is aggravating when your waiter/waitress isn't coming around. As far as the food went the hibachi cooked items could have been portioned out better as I was on the end and got gypped on the veggies a bit. Another odd thing to me was that everything had teriyaki sauce on it (chicken, steak, salmon, rice, etc). It seemed a bit overpowering. Finally, the most off putting thing was the general grime and dirtiness of the grill and table. They didn't seem to empty the grill garbage hole nor do a good job cleaning all the bits off of the grills. My table didn't seem to be wiped down well and to top it off my first glass of water had crusty bits on the glass.

In the end I would rather drive a little ways and go to a different hibachi restaurant if that is what I was craving. I can't see myself wanting to go back to try it again.

The food is amazing, never disappointed! I am greeted every time I enter, the hibachi grill space is a little on the tight side but the chef and servers are great! I have been a customer at Ichiban Ann Arbor for almost 8 years now. Strongly recommended.
