Good price, iffy area but that is downtown LA for you. Only 1 block from the Metro station so it was easy to get around LA without a car. Small hotel, but the room was clean and comfortable. Our room was on the 4th floor with a terrible view of another hotel room, but at least it was away from the street. Breakfast was the normal hotel self-service type, but I have to say that the breakfast room was the absolute cleanest I have ever seen. The ladies work hard to keep it nice! I would stay again!

I really had a bad customer service no respect for a diamond select member. I believe his name was Oscar he had fake eye contacts I have stay in so many hotels but never have been treated like this I told him could I get more respect because I'm a diamond select. He say that that don't mean anything to him. Sucks to see someone don't see my efforts on why I'm diamond select. He just have a attitude problem. Not my problem if he's having a bad day I'm with my family in vacation and it seem like I have to fight some one just to get a room.. !!!NOT GOOD best western!!! I DONT GIVE 1 STARS UNLESS ITS OUT OF CONTROL.

Comfy room with everything you could need. I was only here for a quick night but the staff was friendly. Looks to be recently renovated. Bed and pillows provided a good night's sleep.

Centrally located in Midtown, Best Western Midtown (formally known as Howard Johnson Los Angeles) is an average hotel in a less than average area. While it was recently renovated, the new Best Western Midtown is barely up to par with other Best Westerns in California. While it has some extra amenities such as Direct TV and a gym, the parking structure is severely inadequate, the area is quite noisy, and the rooms and service are average at best. Customers should expect that they won't have an official parking spot and that the parking staff will have access to their cars and will either move them without notice or be blocked in. While the hotel is within walking distance to downtown LA, it is at the intersection of two very busy streets causing noise at all hours of the day and night. The surrounding areas would also probably be considered 'suspect' to those from other areas. While convenient, the location doesn't outweigh the cons of the hotel and the Best Western Midtown would be far from my first choice of places to stay on a trip to southern California.

This hotel has changed its name to "Best Western Plus Midtown" with being remodeled for a while. I have stayed here for a week and I think it was fairly nice in terms of its location, free breakfast - which was composed of cheap foods and beverages though -, and good service. But you know what, you get what you pay for! That is really true with this hotel. No more no less.
