Resort? No! But they charge you a resort fee. Nice rooms however. I challenge them to find me the resort that they charge you for
Our first time staying at Hotel Mela, and the staff was great! Wonderful recomendations, helpful, very friendly and most importantly very clean :). Not to mention a great location. Right in the heart of time square! We will definitely be back! Thanks!!
We stayed in the Queen room which was quite small and the air conditioning was loud, but the bathroom was clean and well equipped. The rooms were cleaned daily to a high standard. The location is excellent for visitors. It's literally round the corner from times Square and therefore central to most of New York's land marks and attractions. We walked to most of the places we visited, we only took the cab to the 9/11 memorial. Great stay in all
It's a great location close to Times Square. Only used it for one night so can't comment on room/maid service. I would have preferred to not be hit with a "mandatory fee" upon the arrival, which, supposedly was disclosed to me during the booking process. As in, there might be fees, but we won't tell you how much, however, you will have no choice but to pay them. It's a marketing ploy which makes it look like you are getting a room cheaper than the other hotels in the area, but, you know, not really.
The location was walking distance to BB King's in Times Square which was perfect. Though I just visited a friend, his room looked great and the staff were courteous and professional. Highly recommended if you need a place to stay near Times Square.
Very good location, good size rooms for NYC standards, rooms are clean and in decent conditions but not great. The elevators are terrible, old small and at some times guests can use only 2 of the 4. This is a very old building that probably has gone through several renovations.
In general it is a good hotel based on the cost/value ratio, but like with many other hotels in NYC, for what you pay here you would get something much better in other cities. I would return if I find a discounted rate.
Rooms are VERY small but they are nice and clean. Most of the staff had terrible attitudes so that gives this hotel - 3 stars amongst other reasons. Amenities are non existent, the lobby restroom is located in the “gym” on the second floor which is basically a mirrored room with some dumbbells. (business center is a computer outside the gym)
Great AC however so no concern of sweating while you sleep! And the location is PERFECT!
Check it out if you want a decently priced place to stay with nice rooms (once upgraded to the “Preferred Rooms”) but don’t expect much out of the staff or facility.
The hotel stands few blocks from the Times Square.. What more can you ask for..? The staff is courteous, the rooms are neat and clean. They care about your needs, and not too expensive too..! (Considering the location)
You can drop your luggage on the receptions after checkout if you want to roam around few hours before leaving for your flight.
I placed a bid on Priceline and got Hotel Mela. I was not sure what to expect since I had never been to New York. We were so impressed by this hotel not only due to the amazing location, the cleanliness of the hotel, but also the amazing customer service. The staff, including their manager Nick went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful and memorable trip. Not only will I return to this hotel in the future, but I have also recommended to family and friends to stay here when they visit. Hotel Mela, Thank you for the amazing hospitality.
Staff was nice, room was a bit small (no desk) but it's in NY time square so you got to expect that. Great location. Elevators seemed a bit slower and needed to hit the button a couple times to stay lit. Good place to stay if you want to experience time square.
Check in was smooth and went on with no delays or issues. The staff were incredibly helpful and keen to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The hotel itself was clean, well maintained, and well equipped. The house keeping employees were the true heroes, you came back after a long day of shopping and sight seeing to find the your room cleaned to the last inch, sheets changed, and your belongings kept and sorted aside. The hotels main advantage is its location, at the heart of manhattan very close to times square and the subway station. Would definitely recommend this place to friends.
Check in was smooth without any issues and room was clean and modern. Staffs were friendly and attentive. Checkout was painless and quick. Great location to Time Square activities. Felt safe and relaxed to be stay here.
Very small hotel. The location is great but the cleanliness and amenities leave a lot to be desired. Internet was down on both the days I was there. Also the sheets were stained in the room I stayed in. I would have given 1 Star if it wasn't for the great location
The hotel is lovely, if a bit hard to spot because it has a very narrow facade. Inside it's cozy and well decorated. I highly recommend the breakfast at the bistro next door that you can get with your room because it's seriously delicious. I had the brioche French toast and don't regret the whipped cream even a little bit.
