The hotel was decent, but without a doubt one of the most outdated places I have stayed in some time. There was clear evidence of mildew around the air units, the heat was not working, the bathroom was okay at best. I must say that the room was very spacious though, and the bed very comfortable. They never replaced the bottles of water that were in the room the first day even though I stayed for four nights. Don't know I would stay here again for the amount it costs. However, the location is prime.
The staff is very helpful and the location is top notch. I've had a few issues with water temperature, but overall this is a great, affordable choice for those wishing to visit DC.
Great location in the heart of Foggy Bottom. Rooms are generously sized and packed with amenities and the bed is incredibly comfortable. The decor is dated but that is part of the charm of this hotel, which looks old on the surface but is modern where it counts. Staff are friendly & efficient. A great choice, would stay here again.
It's an overall good hotel. The rooms have an old school charm. The employees are nice amd welcoming. The location is great, it's walking distance from the National Mall. The fridge in the hotel room was a little loud. There were some stain on the carpet but it was not a big deal. This hotel is super accessible.
Must read before you book it.
This hotel is from 70s, super old and slow.
I think there are only 2 people works there, one guy take valet, room service, maintenance. Other lady is check in and out, she might cook too
the elevator will take a minus to take you to top floor. No ice machine or anything hotel should have.
In the room, the freaking window has crack hole and wind blows in your room, if you wanna kill yourself, their window WILL open all the way!!
Oh if you wanna live here during winter, no heat!! Only AC and loud AF!!
Think twice before you book, don't be fooled by their price.
Our room was very nice and big, it even has a small kitchen with a fridge and a microwave, although we didn't use it. Staff is nice and comfortable. Breakfast is an extra 12 to 17 dollars at the restaurant that's next to the hotel, which is a bit pricey but worth it. I think that the location it's in is very convenient, especially if you want to go visit George Washington University like I did.
I stayed there in September 2016, and although it was a short stay I can say I couldn't have chosen a better hotel. A very short walk away from a metro station and a helpful and friendly staff made our stay very pleasing.
This hotel is terrible! If you want a comfortable experience and don't want to sleep in a bed with BED bugs then stay far away from here. The manager got very rude and unprofessional when it was brought to his attention on top of it. The hotel is extremely small and doesn't even seem like a hotel. We were offered free breakfast as a result of our terrible stay it's definitely not worth it .The hotel is honestly pretty pricey for such mediocre service! We left immediately and i dont recommend anyone spend there hard owned money here especially with these prices you can find much better.
Front desk service has been excellent, provided me with needed items. Room is wonderful - large and classic, not generic like new chain hotels. Would definitely stay again.
With a pleasantly large sleeping room (for a big city, anyway), a very comfortable bed, attentive and courteous staff, and a great location at a fabulous price (AAA rate), my stay at the University Inn mostly met or exceeded my expectations with a few annoying exceptions.
