I’d call it a 3.5. The chicken spiedini (Samantha style, with Alfredo) was excellent. I’d love to have that again. The ambiance was nice. Service was sufficiently attentive. But, the calamari was so-so. It was fine; average, really. No real flavor, and slightly chewy. The bread they brought out was also average. My companion got a different style of chicken spiedini and thought his chicken was a little tough. The place had been highly recommended, and I thought it was fine, but didn’t really stand out.
Went for my birthday last week. Of course we go mainly for the Chicken Spendini, which I believe is the best in town! My husband & I both ate only half of our plates, so I asked the waiter to put both in just one to go box for us. I was excited to eat the leftovers the next day, but I found only my husband's leftovers & not mine! I was so disappointed!! They wrap up the to go box in plastic wrap so it's not like I could have checked it before we left. I feel like that was rude that they take your food & wrap it away from the table anyways.
Meal was still delicious.
Best calamari ever!!! Steak was undercooked but the experience was amazing. Delicious cocktails. Wonderful fresh pasta. Will definitely come back. Best Italian in KC!!!
I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo. Definitely the most bland Alfredo I have ever had. I had to ask to get cheese added to make it tolerable. I also asked a waiter if I could add a ceasar salad to my order because I couldn't locate my waitress. Never received it. Also got charged $3 for splitting my food with my entree with my little girl. I'm guessing I was charged for the plate? I never asked for a plate for her they just did it I was thinking out of courtesy. Everyone was nice but just wasn't really impressed.
If you're looking for a nice environment to eat a meal with above average wait staff, then this is the place, so long as you dont mind paying a lot for below average tasting food. It was clean, staff was friendly and answered all of our questions. For the money we paid however, the food wasn't up to par. I honestly thought it was somewhat bland.
Not to be too picky, but for the amount I paid Im going to be. When the waiter brought out our bread before our meal, the butter was almost frozen solid.
Lets not forget it was absolutely freezing inside. Many people complained about the temperature.
Giving 3 stars and honestly im being generous.
Food and service both top notch! Will definitely be back.
Had an absolutely delicious dinner here for a bithday. The waitress was very helpful and the atmosphere was great.
My first time here. My fiance had been but I had not. I was not disappointed. There were so many great things on the menu that I couldn't decide. The waitor was great, making recommendations based on dishes I was most interested in trying. I ordered the Rigatoni Angela and it was delicious!! These folks saying that their dishes were all pasta are nuts. My dish was full of beef tips and delicious vegetables! Will definitely be going back!
This is absolutely my favorite restaurant in the Overland Park area! We have so many favorite dishes here. It is always a struggle to decide. Celebrate each out-of-this-world meal with a bottle of wine and a spumoni with rum sauce for dessert. The atmosphere with low lighting and rat pack music is what makes this restaurant special for me! Always have top-notch servers, too.
We went here for a family Christmas Eve dinner (very special for all of us to be together) The staff was friendly and was kind enough to let us hang out at the bar since we were early for our reservation. However, when I decided to order, the waitress was pushy and convinced me to get something else entirely then what I had originally wanted. I was so disappointed because my husband is from this city, and he was excited to take me there. Anyway, I ended up getting the seafood ravioli. Gross. It didn't sit well with me and just was not a great dish. My sister in law ordered half manacotti and something else similar to it. Now that was yummy. My in laws got spaghetti, which they said wasn't that great. You would think for such a nice place they would have bomb spaghetti. My husband ordered chicken alfredo, simple, but way garlicky. The garlic cheese bread was good, but way over the top with the garlic. My favorite thing had to be the fried ravioli. Which is what i wanted for my dinner too, except it had pesto. But i never got it. :( Overall it was a nice place and my family (in laws) and kiddos all had a good time. Just wish they had better food for the money my parent in laws spent on that place!
Felt like 'home' as I came from St. Louis!
Most certainly try the Chicken Spiedini 3-way featuring the 3 top sauces
Toasted ravioli would make a Saint Louisan proud.
Calamari is tasty and tender.
Nice wine list, even if the beer list is limited.
I'll be back!
Save your $100 and go somewhere else. I should have known something was amiss when our host was literally the medical description of ADD, and a spaz-maniac. He greeted us, asked how many for our table, answered the phone, and 30 seconds later stared at us and asked what we were there for"a table?" we replied "oh, yeah" he said. We left our name with him for the 15 - 20 minute wait. Around 30 minutes later we went up to the host stand again asking how much longer, he stared blankly at us again "I don't even know who you are" he replied. "Uh, our name is on the waitlist.." and he replied "I don't even have your name on there" Owner, if you are reading this, we were there on 11/15 in the evening from 6 - 8 p.m. Please look at your schedule and send this employee through additional training - he needs it!
The female hostess sensing some frustration at this point grabbed an open table and seated us.
Finally our server greeted us, but she was overbearing and pushy while I was ordering, she insisted that the way I ordered my steak cooked was the wrong choice for the filet mignon. As another reviewer mentioned, the salad was so saturated with dressing it was inedible. The times between seeing her throughout our meal seemed like she had forgotten about us. Lastly, our bill was overcharged and we left wanting to just get out of there before we could have a more terrible experience.
Good food. Good service. The location is a bit crowded and signage at the entrance was confusing. But the food and the prices pleased us.
Fantastic experience with our young children. The patio was a great spot to enjoy classic Italian fare. Kids ate everything and my wife and I were pleased with food and service.
