The area is breath-taking in the fall. The small streams around the member cabins are charming and lovely to listen to while doing off. We stayed in cabin 524. It was a little run-down, but cozy. It wasn't what we normally expect from a time-share trade. But the surrounding area was awesome. The queen bed was completely uncomfortable, however. I kicked the kids out of the two twins and my wife and I slept on those like we were on a 50s TV show. The only other annoyance was the amount of fart-tipped-exhaust cars around. Thankfully the off-season meant less people staying to ride the Tail of the Dragon, nearby. Just be aware that a lot of things in the area close early November.

My only complaint during the 2 times i have stayed here is the absence of microwaves in the rooms. Other than that the breakfast and service was great. Beautiful veiws and its great to sit on the balcony outside the room on the top floor in privacy aside from the parking lot out front.

Beautyful Village in the Mountain. You can rent Rooms or Cabins. Cabins have every thing you need Pots,Pans Coffee Machine and so on. A cruise on Fontana Lake is nice or you can bring your own boat and go fishing or swimming. There is Pools in the Village, General store, Post office Ice Cream Shop and Laundry Facility.

The location is spectacular! And that's the problem. I read reviews of people coming here for decades, and I think nostalgia was tilting the reviews. Its not a bad place and could be better with some basic changes, but my overwhelming impression is it is a place that doesn't have to try because there isn't any competition in the area. Don't get me wrong I don't want to see a hotel around every curve here, but I just wished they would have made the stay nicer. The check in went slowly. We had a problem with the room and were given grief before they swapped us to a less desirable room. And we had dinner at the restaurant and were completely unimpressed with both our meals and the service. Like I said they don't seem to even want time try.

We rented a cabin with 2 bedrooms and a nice large bath. Such a nice and peaceful village with a long history. Near Fontana Dam and the Dragon trail. Great hiking trails. Fontana Village has lots of festivities planed each week.

Love this place! Restaurant is very good and not typical for the area.
Wide range of room styles. Quite remote.

Staff was great, room was clean beautiful property and views. The rooms need more outlets and the door to the room is not self closing which is a security issue. Overall i had a great time and recommend Fontana Village Resort. thanks

Absolutely beautiful getaway!! We did primitive camping and took our kayaks out to see the solar eclipse. I could go off on a whole rant just on the lake, joyrides, and national parks surrounding the resort. But to keep it clear this place has something to do for everyone from my 2 year old nephew to my 60 year old father in law. We loved this place and will hopefully visit again soon!

The cabins are a great family experience. There are plenty of outdoor activities to navigate on your own, but the resort puts together its own schedule for you to follow if it is your first time. The village is located close to the Fontana Dam which offers a neat historical museum that easily explains why the TVA exists. I can't put into enough words how great this area is and how it creates new memories everytime you go.

This place is a perfect hideaway in these beautiful mountains. The cabins are nice. Water pressure in the cabins is great. A vast improvement from most of the places we have stayed in this area. It is in a dry county which is a bit of a bummer the general store on site has good beer, but it is a little expensive.

We rented a cabin for 3 nights, we had no hot water for all 3. I have stayed here 4 times. The lodge rooms are overpriced. The cabins are reasonable, but there is always some kind of problem with the cabins, no hot water, fridge doesn't work, something. I always stay here with a group of people for our annual rally. We won't be back, after 5 years of staying here.

We were checking the place out as a possible wedding venue and we loved it! Tabitha is the best! The resort is affordable and there's always something to do. Everyone was beyond friendly, and the food at the Mountain Lodge was fantastic! Even if we don't get married there, we will be visiting Fontana Village again and again!!

Fontana Village is a "company town" type resort. It has a great ice cream shop, nice clean comfortable rooms, a pleasant frisbee golf course, pools, mini golf, cafe, restaurant, general store, etc etc. There is no need to go elsewhere. You can not really go elsewhere. The staff were very accommodating as we hiked in and had no vehicle. "Residents" get free shuttle service to trail heads, etc or non residents can get the same shuttles for about $3 per person.

The great thing is this: Even though they had the lock-in (can't go anywhere else) I never felt I was being gouged. Everything seemed to be the high side of reasonable like at a small remote highway gas station store, but this is a resort! I thought things were an excellent values from ice cream to hiking food to rain gear (same price as wal-Mart) to sunglasses to rooms. Very fair prices.

I can't get my head around this one though..the ice cream shop offers a topping called "wet walnuts". Walnuts soaking in a jar of maple syrup. To die for. Never heard of them before (I'm a rube, I know) but I went back the next day for a second serving.

Stayed in Lodge/ Garden room 246. Room smelled of mold and mildew. In the bathroom the vent didn't work and ceiling looked like it had black mold that was just painted over. Probably developed from the vent not working. Wait staff at the grill restaurant was great. Wait staff at the restaurant inside the lodge was horrible. Spoke to a lady that said she was the front desk manager about my problems and she didn't seem to care. I had an additional night reserved and checked out early due to poor service and poor experience. Stayed with a group of about 20 people. Almost all had cabins rented. One had a rat in it and other cabins were just of poor upkeep and falling apart. Would not recommend staying here.

The rooms are clean but not overly nice. Perfect place to host 600 Mini Coopers. Nice amenities. I would like if the wifi was available in every lodge room but the way this resort is laid out that is likely not realistic.
