I worked here, and even I DONT GO HERE! i had TIA symptoms , plus an auto accident and they brushed me off, and it cost me my Mustang. there is a reason i quit, and the hint here is it wasnt the pay! i went to the 1101 nott street, and the emurgent care in clifton park, both brushed me off. DO NOT GO HERE, you could die!

Don't go there unless it is absolutely necessary. Albany medical center is a far better equipped hospital with a much better attitude of the doctors. In our case all we could feel was that they were trying to make money and do nothing else, where going to albany med was like magic compared to this place. I don't recommend Ellis at all.

I have had poor service with Ellis er twice. I'm suffering from chest pain, abdominal pain and food poisoning and they have refused to help me. My PCP is no better. This hospital is the worst. They help who they want to help, they are very rude and unprofessional. They want you to do all kinds of test, but leave you in pain stating; I'm not giving you nothing!!! I have been suffering for 4 weeks now and nothing is being done. I am going to find out who I can report this hospital to because nobody should have to suffer, especially the way I am.

My daughter was having lots of pain in her right hip so we went first to an urgent care, and we went in immediately. Then we went to an Emergent care, where we had to wait for hours. She was in much pain, and sitting in an uncomfortable waiting room chair was not very helpful. Once we got in she got an X-Ray blood tests and hours of sleepless waiting. They called ahead to the hospital and got a room. We drove to the hospital and entered through the garage. The place was basically empty and a t first we were worried that wouldn't be able to find it, but the sign were actually very helpful. The nurses showed nothing but kind and helpful attitudes(They switched from night shift to day shift while we were there) The doctors did what they had to do and did not stretch it out.
The only bad thing was it was her hip, and so she was required to move her pants down a little, and there were like 6 doctors in the room! Maybe a little privacy would be nice! After her stay a man wheeled her out to the garage. Overall her stay was amazing ( Although the hospital food was. We expected that coming in, its kind of a famous cliche that hospital food is not very good)! The kindness showed to us by the staff here at this hospital was expectational. Thank you to the wonderful people who work there, and showed kindness throughout the night, even at 2 A.M.(Even waking up a sleepy eleven yearly to take her vitals, they tried there absolute hardest to make it as comfortable as she could be) Thank you to the pets department at Ellis Hospital.

I was in the ER on Thursday Sep. 28th. The service I received was great. Dr.Clara Somoza and the other nurses involved were absolutely great. They all made my visit very easy and explained to me every step they are going to do. My visit was not lengthy, considering x rays, I was in and out within under an hour.
Thank you Dr. Somoza and team

With pain in my hurt I have to give 1 star instead of 0. Ellis Hospital sucks I stayed in A6 a couple times I called for help and the nurses and tech literally were answering my bell between 30 minutes and one hour. This hospital is not safe! Go to st Mary’s in Amsterdam, St. Peter’s in Albany or even better albany med.

Where do I start? Our 85 year old mom had a large seizure that ended with her admitted to Ellis. (One trip prior - we waited in the waiting room with mom for EIGHT hours before being seen.) During this hospitalization, most of the nurses acted bitter and extremely unhappy - literally seem to avoid eye contact so that they won't have to speak with you. When you do speak with them, they act like they are angry that you would take their time. (The supervising nurse even said as much when I complained about an under-nurse's lack of care!) Very few of them care about mom's privacy (closing the bathroom door when she's on the throne, covering her backside in front of the rest of the hospital's visitors!). She was not groomed or bathed every day (she literally smelled). Biggest issue is huge lack of communication - literally told to leave mom's room during the change of shift discussions from one nurse to another, with the oncoming nurse rudely closing the curtain in our faces. All of the nurses are in CYA mode and cover and otherwise lie for their co-workers when called out. You have to beg to get a return call from a doctor. It was 2.5 days before we got to speak with the neurologist. Mom's been in there over a week now and only twice has the doctor called us. This is after complaining to higher-ups. We learned from staff today that mom is thankfully being moved to rehab. Words of advice: Go to AMC!!

My recent stay in the mental health center at Ellis Hospital was single handedly the worst experience of my entire life. I waited over 12 hours in the ER in a room with a woman who was screaming at me, so I sat in the waiting room most of the time. Multiple people on the floor screamed all day and night for my entire 5 day stay. I was threatened and sexually harassed by other patients and nothing was done. It was so out of control and I was so unsafe that I had to sleep on a mattress on the floor in an office to get away from my roommate, who never let me sleep. Patients even came into my room when I was sleeping. I had a serious panic attack and I was told to "get over it if I wanted to go home" by multiple staff members that just stood over me, arms folded, and did nothing to help me. They messed up my medications. The whole place is just dirty. Most of the staff, except for a few, were horribly rude. Go somewhere else.

Always wanted to write something. To be fair, this is regarding my very long stay at the Big E last year for open heart surgery. Most of the nursing staff on the Cardiac Intensive care are wonderful; some a bit overworked due to short staffing and some I am sorry to say were down right rude and spent most of their time talking and ignoring patients. One nurse was so rude she brought me to tears because of I difficulties trying to walk with an untreated charlie horse in my right calf.(I think she thought I was trying to get out of walking) I had to snap at her to finally get them to give me flexiril and guess what? muscle cramp gone but muscle soreness lasted for months. While walking I kept tripping over something and they said it was my catheter tubing. Nope. It was the bandage that had unraveled from where they cut my leg open for the vein. Part of the bandage was still attached to my wound the other part, draggin on the floor. Love grand rounds were they walk around with clipboards or note cards discussing you like you were not there. And for the love of God can you please stop sending the phlebotomist in between 3:30AM-4:30AM to ATTEMPT to draw blood. Some people like to sleep during that time. As you can see, not my favorite place to go.

I had out patient surgery on my eye. They registered me quickly and I was in and out in no time. My only problem was with the billing department. I paid my bill, I got a bill in the mail and I tried calling the billing department to confirm it was on record as being paid. Well a phone call a day for 3 days now and leaving a message because they were busy and no one has called me back.

Absolutely the worst ER that you could possibly imagine. My daughter was sent there from her school because she was ill and her heart rate was very high. The doctor came in and learned that she was ill and had been experiencing a high fever, but insisted that she probably had a clot in her lungs. We told the Dr that she had a bleeding disorder, so clotting was VERY unlikely, but that was her diagnosis. After spending 8 hours there (and hearing WAY more personal information about her roommate than should be allowed - sorry Mary Ellen) the Dr could not find any clot and asked for her temperature to be taken. After another half hour wait for a nurse to do it (guess the 2 minutes that it would have taken the doctor were too much) the Dr came back in to find out what the temperature was. Thankfully, I had seen the number when the nurse took the temp (I guess they don't believe in sharing that information with the Dr). The doctor was happy to see a high fever since that would explain the high heart rate (um, the Dr. knew she was ill and feverish when admitted). The final words of the Dr were "I guess that just means aspirin or tylenol". We pointed out - again - the bleeding disorder so the Dr. just said "Well, Tylenol then." Thanks.

I was not happy with my experience at all. One of the days I was there the nurse came in to see me once in her whole 12 hour shift. Then when the doctor told me I could be discharged it took them yet again about 12 hours to do so. When we went to the nurse's station and asked what was taking so long I was told that I "take the back burner because the doctor is admitting patients from the ER" meanwhile all of the staff on the floor at the time were sitting at the nurse's station on their phones and laughing. I would not go to this hospital ever again and would recommend Albany Med.
