The assistants there are friendly but the Vet on the other hand was pretty much useless. My dogs hurt her leg while running in the yard so I made an appointment to come see the vet. He checker her teeth, temperature and played with her leg for about 30 seconds and recommended paying for blood work and a Lyme test. Seems like they are only padding their bank account instead of helping my dog. If you went to the doctors with a hurt leg and they want to check your blood sugar first you would be a little upset. The leg exam should have been first then blood work and Lyme after. Needless to say I left and paid money to someone to tell me something I could find out by anyone.

I have a 7 yr old female GSD. I called today to make her scheduled appointment. I was lucky they had an opening for this evening. I came to my appointment to get her normal annual check up plus to discuss her health and some of my concerns. I first discussed her eating habits and diarrhea. The answer I got was, " It could be something simple to a larger problem." I asked like what and again it was a vague answer. I then discussed the possibility of removing a few cysts and getting them tested. The answer was Ill give you the prices. The final discussion was about changing her dog food and if it would be beneficial. She is on TOTW and read some things today that reflect her symptoms. All I got was, "It could help." I paid $52 for a local check up with none of my questions answered for approximately a 15 minute appointment. The vet sent me into the other office as I waited a short time for the technician to give me the cost of process of elimination for my GSD issues. The cost from basic blood work to more extreme would run me $1500. I didn't get an answer of what these tests would eliminate except a few. As i left I get a flyer about allergies that the Vet felt I should have. I just paid $52 for 15 minutes with a Vet who is supposed to be the expert and all i got was vague answers and a flyer that at no time he discussed when I paid for his services. He didn't explain about allergies nor was it ever brought up. But for my $52 I got a flyer and a bill that could cost me $1500 for the process of elimination. I was pretty unhappy with no answers or a costly solution for my issue. I spoke to the technician about the displeasure and asked to speak with the Vet. I was told the Vet was busy but I just left his office 5 minutes. I asked again to speak with the Vet. Again I was told he is busy. I told the technician to let the Vet know, "Im not pleased with the service I received today." I live a block away from this facility. I got home and called again to speak with the Vet. Again, He was busy. I asked for a call back and told it could take 24 hrs before I get one. I was not yelling or screaming, just politely asked to speak to the Vet. I know when you provide a service that you do what you can to make your customer feel, they were taken care of. Today I was not. I now have to wait another 24 hours to see if I can get answers.

The attendant shows no respect. They let us wait for one and half an hour. Those who came later were treated in front of us. Is it because we have a cat? And when we went to the doctor, he refused to see the cat because the cat was shocked by the doggies. Later, our cat was calm down. He also refused to make the examination. I will never come to those hospital again. It is really a waste of time. I spend my whole morning in this bad place👎👎🏻👎🏼👎🏽👎🏾👎🏿

My wife and I were in Syracuse so that my wife could run the Syracuse half marathon. We live in the Adirondacks and come to Syracuse often to visit family. While my wife was running, I went into The On Center to get out of the elements. The Dewitt Animal Hospital had a booth in the center and I spotted this sweet little pit bull mix named Gracie. We had to put down our 15 year dog a few months ago and we were going looking for a rescue dog. I knew that Gracie was that Dog and when my wife finished the race, Gracie confirmed it. She abandoned her calm demeanor and ran to my wife, greeting her with tail wagging and licks. Game, set, match. We had to adopt her. This was a Sunday and the staff at Dewitt Animal Hospital and Shelter went out of their way to help us. We stayed in Syracuse an extra day and came home with Gracie on Monday. This only happened because of the help and dedication of the staff at the shelter. Thank you Dewitt Animal Hospital staff and if you're reading this, bring joy into your life and rescue a shelter dog.
