The Crowne plaza was locsted right off of interstate 77 and was easy to locate however it was a good distance from local conscience shopping and the up a took you through residential neighborhoods. Parking was okay could have cleared the parking lot better it was icy. The bistro inside the restaurant was very nice and served a great lunch for the seminar I was attending. Rooms aren't as quiet and soundproof as most hotels I have stayed in. The ballroom was beautiful and would work well for a wedding reception.
Everything was great until our last day when a sign advertised the breakfast buffet for 1 dollar. My friends and I were about to leave for the day but when we saw that of course we stopped and went in and ate. After we were done eating we got our bill and it was 36 dollars. We explained that the sign was advertising 1 dollar and the waitress went and put a two back on the board so it said 12. The staff was extremely rude and blamed us for their false advertising. Other people eating were equally upset and nothing was done. It's crazy to me that a establishment like this would false advertise to draw people into their breakfast buffet. To others visiting I would warn you to be careful because clearly their is a lack of integrity by the staff here. The least they could do is own up to their own mistake instead of trying to blame it on the customers.
This hotel is located near professional building offices and Medical facilities. The Crown plaza hotel itself, is a very nice hotel and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Even though I did not spend the night, the place looks very clean.
Great place to host an event. Food was great. Decor is neutral and can be brought to life anyway you see fit. Would certainly recommend for any event.
I was very disappointed in my stay at the Crowne Plaza Cleveland South-Independence. My friends and I stayed there this past weekend because my best friend (who also stayed with us) got married the next day. There were kids playing hockey in the halls, staff of the hotel walking by and not saying anything to the kids about how it's not appropriate to be doing so.
The first thing that I noticed about our room was the lack of cleanliness in the bathroom. The floors weren't swept and there was dirt and grime all over the bathroom floor and there was no tissue left in the bathroom. I called down to the front desk to let them know that there was an issue and the man (David, he was very helpful) said that he would send someone right up with tissues and that he would let housekeeping know about the issue with the bathroom floor. Tissues were brought up but no one ever came to address the issue with the bathroom floor, it was still covered with dirt and grime when we left the next day.
In addition to my disappointment with this stay was the next morning when I called down to request a shower cap for my friend who was getting married, I had to call down again about 20 minutes later because one was never brought up. The front desk agent apologized and said he forgot to write down the room number and then he got busy and forgot to call back. My friend in the meantime had already gotten in the shower and was just trying to avoid getting her hair wet because she had to start getting ready for her wedding! A shower cap was finally brought up, but nothing was ever done to make this right.
When we were ready to leave I went downstairs to look for a bell cart and there were not any available. I understand the hotel was sold out the night before and that they were possibly left on the floors, so I spoke with the front desk agent and asked him about getting a bell cart. He went on to explain the busyness of the hotel and I told him that I understood that, and asked him if he could have someone check the floors for a cart. Instead of asking that question, I heard him call a department and just say "If you notice any bell carts in the halls, could you please bring them downstairs" instead of specifically asking someone to go look for one. So, I went looking myself. I did not find any, so I called downstairs and asked for assistance in carrying our luggage down. Someone did come up to help.
A few other things I wasn't impressed with, the pool closes at 10 this seems very early for a hotel that is supposed to cater to those who are there on business and would like to relax in the hot tub after a long day. I also noticed that the majority of our stay, there was only one front desk associate at the desk. When I'd call down, the phone would ring and ring and ring and when it was finally answered, I was put on hold. There definitely should have been more staff scheduled on a night that they were sold out. There was no refrigerators or microwaves in the room. And the curtains had a very gross LARGE yellow stain on them.
The hotel in itself is a beautiful building, and my friends weren't as disappointed as I was (mostly because I work in the industry and they do not), but they were still disappointed in the service. I will not be staying here again.
Nice large hotel in Independence. Older but nice. Staff is always polite and accomidating. Restaurant and bar in hotel. Nice comfy beds and pillows.
Partly the venue, partly the other guests. Both contributes to my experience not being 100% satisfactory.
I was there for business and a motor cycle club was also there. So, at 3 AM both nights I was there, I was awoken by the sound of motorcycles with loud stereos coming in and revving for no apparent reason. The hotel manager did kick out most of the loud bikers, but not all were evicted from the premises.
Felt that $12 was a bit much for a breakfast buffet. Even if the french toast was some of the best I have ever had. Also, the card readers for the outside doors and rooms themselves would only read your card ~15% of the time. Had them re ran twice and the cards still didn't work right in any of the readers we had to use to get in.
I have stayed at this hotel twice now for business. Both time the rooms were clean and had friendly service at the front desk. The place is pretty quiet and the beds are comfortable. Excellent stay!
The hospitality staff was very nice, and the banquet hall was great. The cleanliness and condition of the hotel and the rooms were a MAJOR detractor from the good service. The hotel and the rooms in general are in need of renovation. We were part of a large group and several members of the group experienced dirty rooms, bodily fluid stained sheets and mattresses, and one person found a dirty woman's undergarment left behind under the bed. This is not what you would expect from a hotel of this caliber. I would recommend choosing another hotel as there are a number of other options near by.
We had a really great stay at the Crown Plaza. The staff was courteous and professional and the rooms and facilities were clean. The fans for the air in the room were so loud we turned them completely off overnight and the pool was pretty cold. Overall, we were satisfied with our stay.
Rooms were very neat and clean. Decor was in good taste. Reception was phenomenal and service was superb. Location was a little difficult getting to but not overly difficult.
Overall a poor experience here, and a far cry from what I've experienced at other Crowne Plaza hotels. Breakfast is a joke, don't pay to have it included. While there is a restaurant on site, the breakfast is a buffet of oatmeal, eggs, bacon, sausage, and french toast. There was some fruit as well. You would be better off going down the block to Bob Evans or even Denny's. We never received maid service during our stay, and the staff didn't seem to care when called about. We were able to a set of towels at least. The bed is rock hard, and pillows are as flat as pancakes. Quality of sleep was on par to camping on the ground. This hotel appears as if it's a converted unit and branded to Crowne Plaza, as it's not built to the standard we expect. The reception for 5th floor guests wasn't worth walking down the hall to attend. There are many other hotels in the area, you'd be best picking any of them instead.
Worst Experience Ever: There are many hotels in the area, save the stress and stay somewhere else. Poor customer service. I booked through a third party hotel advisory (Priceline) at 1am after driving 8 hours, I figured I could rest my eyes for a few hours. I arrive at Crowne Plaza and they inform me that there are no early check-in and no refunds. I asked if they can make a accommodation or let me pay a fee for the trouble. The clerk at the desk said no and it's your lost. I asked to speak to a manager and the manager is never available. It's been twos and I had no where to stay that night. You figured a multi million dollar hotel franchise would be more accommodation, but that wasn't the case. Stay away from booking unless you are okay with bad customer service.
Great stay! Hotel was very clean, the bed very comfortable. Getting slightly dated / could use a fresh coat of paint and new carpeting. Otherwise a great stay at a reasonable price!
We received an amazing rate on our room. We were in cleveland for a concert and decided to stay in Independence. It was a great location right of I-77. Room we very lean, nice and comfortable.
