I've stopped in there four times. There are great deals on used parts and you can find most anyting to repair an older bike. However, my experience with the staff has always been lack luster. No one has ever said "Hello, can I help you". When I have asked for help, it has been given reluctantly and grumpily. I stopped by (for the last time) yesterday, the door was open, so I walked in, said "hello" to the first person I saw. The response, grumpily stated "we open in 10 minutes" was followed by a blank stare.
Truth be told, I've worked in the cycling industry for about ten years, and I've not met a more surly group of folks working on something as fun as bicycles.
I'm kinda bummed that my taxes go to supprt this group, it's not fair to the other bicycle shops in town, and if I'm already paying, Id think I'd be better recieved.
Anywho, last visit for me, and to the folks there at the shop, "cheer up"

I love the place! I have since it was 2 guys in a dimly lit space. I have enjoyed watching them grow and out grow that space.

I enjoy fixing and upgrading bike parts for a hobby. Every time I need a part or parts I always come here. You can find nice parts if you're lucky for cheap. Staff is always helpful everytime I need help or answers.
Just be aware, no returns or exchange and parking is tight. If you're a bike enthusiast, coming here is always worth it.

Lovely shop, excellent staff. I came in with a broken rear hub and I had a replacement within 5 minutes for only $6. They have some great used bikes and parts, and you can use their workshop space for $50 per year. Amazing.

Community Cycles is a great resource. It's awesome to see so many perfectly good bikes and components available for so cheap. Plus they have all the tools to put everything together - from bottom brackets, forks, headsets, wheels, you name it. Plus, they have brand new stuff to keep your bike maintained properly (chains, tires, tubes, derailleur pulleys, cassettes). Thanks Community Cycles!

I bought my first mountain bike here (a refurbished Trek 3700) back in 2010 for around $100 and road it extensively. As a fledgling recent graduate, it was a wonderful way to get into a sport I've grown to love and was probably the only way I could've feasibly entered the sport at that time. The hands on bike maintenance knowledge I learned here only enhanced my love of all things bikes. I also rebuilt my own bike here and enjoyed the camaraderie of my fellow bike enthusiasts and the supportive staff at CC. The service they provide to the Boulder community is amazing and a membership or donation is worth every penny.

Bought a used bike here. Pandemonium! So crowded and the employees were constantly interrupted to go help others.

We bought a membership. Their computer system was down, and they had us fill out a piece of paper with our info. Came back later and they had no record of our membership. To their credit, they took us at our word and entered the membership the second time.

The bike seems cool. They just seem really disorganized and overwhelmed constantly.

One of the worst experiences I have ever had. A couple of weeks ago both tires were stolen off my bike so I went there for a new set, cassette, chain. I was helped by a sweet girl and ended up spending approx $115 on everything. She noticed the front wheel wasn't true and told me to come back in. When I did I was told to go talk to a gentleman who was obviously a volunteer and pretty new to the whole thing, he made the wheel worse. Then here's the catch, when I called to explain my situation I was told off almost immeadeatly, "that's why you don't buy resale if you want perfection" and "if you don't like what we're doing here then go somewhere else". All I want to know is why I'm $115 in the hole with a bike I haven't used in weeks because it does not work. Do not go here if you want to be treated respectfully.

I love this place. Of the several times I've been there, their service has been outstanding. I debated purchasing a used bike from Craigslist, but was hesitant as I know very little about bikes. I may have paid more, but now have a well functioning bike.

I have an old bike that I use to ride to work. The rear wheel was bent, so I brought it here to get a new wheel. The person sold me a used wheel for $20 and said I should get a new tire, okay, another $25 bucks and another $15 to put it on. The used wheel was flawed and the tire wouldn't set right on the rim such that every time the wheel turned, it felt like I was going over a bump. I took it back to see if they could fix it, and they got it to work for a little bit. But punctured my tube in the process. Oh yeah, the manager yelled at me "this is why we don't do service." I didn't know that, they charged me for it. So, brought the back a second time, just wanting to swap out the wheel or get my $20 back. No dice, they wouldn't return it or even help me out. They were pretty rude about the whole thing too. So, now, I am out $60 and my bike doesn't work and been driving to work.

I have purchased several bikes at Community Cycles for myself and my kids. The value of buying a used bicycle at Community Cycles over buying from a stranger on Craigslist is that you will get a bike that has been inspected and tuned by a trained mechanic. The bike will be in good working order and will usually have new cables, brake pads, etc. Many of the bikes they completely rebuild. If you are not inclined to bike maintenance and repair, CC is a good place to learn how to fix a flat tire or clean your chain. If you like working on your bike, CC provides expert support for your next bike project. I completed the earn-a-bike program three years ago and am really thankful for a great bike and for the knowledge I acquired. The program was quite flexible and the staff was super helpful.
