Out of all the ski hills I've been to in lower Wisconsin this one has the fastest chair lift and smallest park. The runs are all pretty long and offer a good verify of difficulty. The only downside for this hill is that the lift tickets are rather expensive. You can expect to pay $100+ for a ticket and rental. Cascade does not offer a discounted day (Tyrol has $14 Tues and Devil's head has $16 Thurs night) however, the it is Definitely one of the best ski hills around. The bottom line is Cascade is a fantastic ski hill if you don't mind spending a decent chunk of money for a great skiing experience however, you can get the same or better experience for a bigger at some of the other ski hills for a lower price.
First time going here It was confusing at first how to get to other lifts, but then realized I had to go up and ride down to other lifts. You can't just walk from the bottom, you have to ride there. I had a great time once I understood the layout. The day I was there some of the trails were ice rocks, but it made it more fun for me. The food was okay, nothing to write home about, but they had a pretty good variety.
As far as the layout, I just liked this place more than Devil's Head.
Awesome slopes. Close to Dell's and Portage. Lift tickets are reasonable and they have ski school for kids and private or small group classes for adults and teens. Well stocked shop too. They just got new rental gear as well brand new skis and boots. I wish there was a better restaurant and healthier meal options.
Two high speed quads. Updated facilities with a lot of space. The have a good selection of nice runs. They have excellent signage with directions even on the sidewalk. The bars have a nice selection of beers. Great sport shop for your equipment needs. Easy access from the interstate.
Wow. Our family had a great time! Weekday before Christmas and the snow was fairly fresh. We were amazed how fast and easy using the rentals was. The entire Staff was friendly and helpful. New lifts were fast and terrain had some fun spots to play around. I could see a snowboard only section being a really good idea here. For now, snowboards have some decent park features mingling with the skiers.
Amazing slopes that has a great balance of beginner, intermediate, and expert level slopes so everyone can be happy.
A decent location with diverse runs for all skill levels, with the exception of the terrain park. Years ago, they had what was called the "Super Park", which had a series of larger jumps, a halfpipe (used to have 2 halfpipes) box rails, and rails. The railyard or whatever it is called now is very lacking by comparison, but overall, a good hill. I prefer Cascade for ease of getting to their location, compared to Tyrol or Devil's Head. Tyrol I'd only go for their 10 dollar Tuesday and Devils head just for their terrain park.
UPDATE: multimillion expansion in progress
Good for beginners and more advanced. After that 9million expantion, better than ever. Always well groomed, night skiing, love it. Four stars, because food quality and selection is terrible - super processed everything. French fries would be the healthiest option found there, out of all warm meals offered. No. 2, would be marshmallows. And, I wonder why, the food prices are so radiculous high, for such an awful quality. It's not any remote geographically, hard to access place. Otherwise, I advise visiting nearby Portage restaurants.
went tubing, and the service was great! i wish the magic carpet hand a magic handrail and it moved a little faster.. i understand its hard to stand on it and thats why its so slow, but it should be faster and it should have a hand rail. otherwise, well kept, some tubes need replacement and better maintenance.. its not a cheap place, so i kind of expected a little better 'upkeep'
This is a great ski/snowboard area for beginners or Midwesterners looking for a weekend getaway. There are a few challenging trails for more experienced riders. If you are looking for lots of variety, you might be disappointed. The tubing hill is a good option for an hour or 2 of high-speed excitement. Make sure to check out the new trails on the south edge once you've got the basics down!
Best hotel to stop at halfway to Between Florida and Ohio, Michigan Pennsylvania etc. great free breakfast, nice 4-way connected spa and a huge pool with slide. The lifeguard taught my son how to ride the slide and helped him at the bottom to get the feel. Whoever the girl is that lafegusrds and serves the breakfast keep her on staff! She made us feel so welcome. Then the guy filling the game room with tokens gave a couple to my son. The room was looked new, clean and the king with sofa room was perfect for our family of 4. Our stay on the way up made us book again for the way back. Great value!
