Seriously flaws in th ER. Omg worse than a torture chamber. I thought I just might die before a doctor saw me. They triage you quick and the put you in the most uncomfortable disgusting waiting room ever. I was in that room for 5 hours. No one came to check on anyone unless it was to bring you back. I couldn't breathe had bronchitis and pneumonia. And congestive heart failure. Lungs were screwed up. Hello could be really badtook the doctor 3 minutes to get me to xray. Took him 15 minutes to look and admit me. 5 more hours to get a room. 15 hours passed Rn's in the back of ER were GREAT. Rn's in front not so nice. Here just looking at my Christmas dinner. yuck but that's another story

This is a less-than-average hospital. It would be fine if it was the only game in town, but other facilities offer better care and better resources.

first great experience i've had with a hospital emergency room. As previous reviewers ,I don"t care about the furnishings its the quality of the staff. There too many cry babies complainting about everything nowadays ,so growup, what would you rather have its a no brainer.

Had to go to the ER, waited 2 hrs before being called to a room. Then waited another hr for dr to come see us. Dr Alan Hassel had a terrible attitudeeven though we were the ones who waited 3 hrs. HORRIBLE patient-provider relationship. Go find another profession if your going to treat your patients unfairly and with a rude demeanor. Then we waited another 2 hrs for results. Total wait time 5 hrs.good service from staff was great EXCEPT the Dr.

I went to ER on 8/14/17 and was admitted due to a stroke the hospital was clean and then I was admitted to rehabilitation for PT . The doctor that was assigned to me his name is Dr. Jatoi he is a awesome Dr pertaining to my concerns with a problem I had with another doctor, but more so his concern for my health was 1000% and I appreciate that🛐the way we crossed paths was from the patient advocate by the name of Annette she was a and forever be a blessing to me pertaining how a Dr who totally disrespected me. This lady really goes the distant for the patients concerns, and she is a Angel because people don't take the time anymore to listen but she did. And I'm forever grateful and she is very appreciated. I recommend this hospital because people like Annette and Dr. Jatoi are very rare God bless them always.

If you have a choice go to a different hospital. After over two months of trying to have anyone at the hospital simply resubmit a claim to the insurance they have stopped me at every turn with a "that's not my job". Still trying but so far it's a $1000 mistake.

I woke up with an emergency at 5:30 AM on a Saturday morning in July, 2017. At 6:AM I made an appointment for 7:00 AM in St. Joseph's emergency room. I arrived at 6:55, was checked in at 7:OO, in an exam room by 7:05, and seen by an MD by 7:30. At 9:30 I left with a prescription and instructions to see a specialist as soon as possible. Long story short, I am now well again four weeks later.

I am more than pleased with the efficiency and expertise I experienced during my first experience with St Joe's, and I will not hesitate to go there in the future.

My Father was admitted to St Joseph's after breaking his hip in a fall. His surgeon was remarkable, Dad had almost no pain after the surgery. Once we were transferred to the inpatient physical therapy unit, we were absolutely delighted by the quality of the care and especially the staff. The nice thing about inpatient PT is that he is under constant doctor care. The ONLY negative was that the physical therapy unit had semi-private rooms (2 per room). We heard that should change to private rooms 'soon'. Still giving the hospital 5 stars, since dad said this is the best hospital he's been to.

As a visitor to Tucson, I am appalled. I went to ER yesterday with Bronchitis at 2:39pm, triage was at 3:05pm where they took blood and prepared an IV. Then I sat in a chair in the hallway until 11:59pm, At which time they took me to a room, asked me to get in a gown then proceeded to hook me up to EKG and everything else like I had just arrived.at the hospital. At 1:00am the doctor came in and asked what I was there for. After telling him, he said well, the bronchitis you have takes about 3 months to get over and you won't need antibiotics. Just stay out of the wind and dust.
That was a horrible experience. The nursing staff were actually running in the halls to keep up. St. Joseph leaders should walk through ER someday. Enough said!

May1, 2017. I called Patient Advocates like they asked in the response to this review. It was a very good conversation and I do feel like they are interested in making sure the process is reviewed so that others will not have the same expience as I had.

I am sort a mixed on how to "Star" rate St. Joseph. I had to be admitted twice since January this year. One visit with life threatening issues, and once with very serious issues. Both visits, I was treated very well both in the ER and the recovering room. I would easily give the care, food, empathy and professionalism a 4-star except.
I am a Vietnam veteran, and entitled to 100% medical care at the VA hospital. If my illness requires me to go to a hospital, other than the VA, the hospital or I need to contact the VA right away, and the VA will determine if I should be transferred to the VA hospital.
In February this year, I was taken to the ER by ambulance, and was admitted. The treatment and care was what I expected from St. Joseph, and I was very happy, until.About 3 days before my discharge, I was 1/2 asleep with my back to the room door. A female came in and sad "Do you want to go to the VA or stay here?" I did not face her because I was almost asleep, but said "Why would I go to the VA when you guys know all about the situation?" She said "OK" and left. 2 days later, a woman came in and had a paper and said "The VA wants you to sign this, and they need it back within 24 hours," and handed me the paper. It had a box hand checked, and said I refused transfer to the VA and would be held responsible for all costs at St. Joseph." I gave it back to her and said "I'm not signing this because I did not 'refuse', nor was anything explained to me about it." She tossed the paper on the food table next to the bed and said "They need it in 24 hour." Very unprofessional.
Last week, I got a letter from the VA telling me they would not pay any of the bill, and that I must pay St Joseph. The bill is for a huge ammount, and I do not work.
Two things should have been done. (and I would expect the clerical staff learn to be nice to patients the same as the Doctors, nurses, and even the staff who comes in to clean the room daily) 1). The lady should have made eye contact with me and made sure I was coherent when she originally brought the letter in, and 2). She should have explained what the situation was when she asked me if I wanted to go to the VA or stay at St. Joseph. If she had told me what it was about I, and anyone else in their right mind would have said, yes, take me to the VA so I do not have to pay for the hospital instead of saying "No, I'll stay here and pay thousands and thousands of dollars.

All doctors, nurses, custodial staff and techs were informative, friendly, smiling and made me feel better. The hospital was clean. My husband and I have been thinking about moving from another hospital to St. Joseph's, this stay convinced me it was the best move! Good job St. Joe's!! I am impressed!!

Compassionate care during our time of loss. At 17 weeks pregnant we found out our son had passed away. I had to have labor induced and deliver our precious sleeping son at St. Joseph's. My nurses were truly amazing and I consider them true angels on earth. They are truly among the most compassionate, caring, loving and empathetic people I have ever met. I was truly blessed to have the wonderful nurses and hospital staff take care of me and my husband during this difficult time. Our experience at St. Joseph's exceeded our expectations.
