Great value in a great location! Staff is really fantastic! Danny at the front desk and Amber in reservations were particularly helpful! Walking distance to a number of bars and restaurants. Nice sized suites. Quiet rooms and comfortable beds. Water views available (either the bay or the marina). Free bicycles available for use. Pool has gas fireplace in corner for cool nights. Highly recommend!

This was my first time staying at this hotel. I have stayed at other hotels on Shelter Island previously, but this is clearly my favorite. I stayed in room 204 which was the king suite. The view was amazing! The room was very clean. I had a large living room with a tv and good size kitchen complete with stove, toaster, coffee maker, plates, etc. There was a small patio with a table and chairs. The bathroom had 2 sinks. If you are a tennis player, they have 2 lighted courts that are well maintained. I visited both pools and again, the view was incredible. The staff couldn't be more accommodating, especially Dennis who assisted with my check-in. I can't wait to return!

We had an amazing stay here. We arrived 2 hours earlier than check in and were informed that our room wasn't ready, which makes sense, we were early. So we hung out at the pool which faces the marina.

When our room was ready, still 30 min earlier than check in time, we were told we got a free upgrade to a king sized bed ocean view room.

Service at this hotel was outstanding, the staff are friendly and attentive and the hotel is quiet at night. Definitely recommend!

Great place to stay while visiting San Diego. I've traveled here with three kids and we stayed in the suite with a full kitchen what made it feel even more home away from home. Very convenient location with most of the attractions being 15-30 minutes away. Well kept grounds, nice staff and incredible views. Will definitely stay again!

Love this hotel! Been coming here off and on for 10 yearsviews are wonderful, my favorite is of the marina, there is a lovely walkway along the marina, the restaurant is wonderful and so is the pool area! Staff has always been very pleasant and helpful as well.
Beautiful view on the front side of the hotel of the bay and downtown San Diego. Great place to take a walk and there are some great restaurants on Shelter Island within walking distance. Overall, a great getaway !

The location is perfect for guests who likes peace and quiet. There are pools and jacuzzi in different locations depending where your room is located. There tennis court is located by the back near the parking. The parking lot is spacious and I don't think there is valet parking. It's walking distance to a lot of other restaurants. They also have their own restaurant which is called the blue cove near the lobby. They have happy hour :)

My husband and I stayed at the Island Palms Hotel for 5 nights. We upgraded to a suite so we would have more room. We enjoyed our stay there. The suite was very nice. The pool was great. The views were very calming and beautiful since it was located across a marina. The restaurant on site was very good and it was nice we could eat outdoors. The only problem we had was with the cleaning staff. We don't feel they took their time to clean the rooms as well as they could. But overall, I would recommend this hotel and would go back. Very nice.

Loved the location Shelter Island is just minutes from All San Diego downtown amenities and the airport is only 5 minutes away driving distance. The room was excellent for the price that we paid, clean and upgraded we faced the San Diego Bay and the days and nights were gorgeous. Also, we booked the room because of the Tennis courts and to our surprise they were clean and had a gorgeous view from the Marina and Bay. The grounds were beautifully landscaped Beautiful tropical flowers and plant every where we looked. Staff was professional and answered all our questions promptly. We will definitely be back and will always try to book a Best Western plus or Premier for our next vacations if available.

This is a fantastic place to stay in San Diego. While the beach on shelter island isn't fantastic, it still adds to the scenery. There are two large pools here, both are great for kids and adults. The tropical vegetation and trees also really add to the tropical getaway feel. Rooms vary greatly in size, but they are all very clean and well maintained. Great hotel!

This is a great Best Western Property with a premium location on the waterfront with water views from both sides. We discovered the Islands Palm Hotel 2 years ago, and on every opportunity since when we have traveled to the San Diego Bay area we have stated at the Best Western Islands Palms Hotel. At this time I believe we have stayed 6 times when traveling into bay area

The interiors are top notch, designed to reflect the Polynesian theme of the Island. The rooms are comfortable with textures and colors to make you feel as if your in the South Pacific. The hotel is surrounded by Birds of Paradise plants both normal size and on the larger grander side, along with these there is a variety of flowering exotic beauties filling the landscape. Add to this, an idyllic picture perfect yacht marina, lays adjacent to the breadth of the hotel. At night or in the morning this view is perfect for pictures or just look out onto.

The staff have always been great and of course very courteous even going out of their way to assist with parking over sized vehicles by alerting the Port Police we were staying as guests at the hotel and thereby avoiding an issues with parking on the street at night.

Overall, I would tell anyone seeking a great hotel stay in the San Diego Bay Area about this hotel, it's location and the staff and the amenities all are top notch and I give it a 10.

I stayed for a week during the month of April 2017 for business. The staff are very polite and helpful. At times they went out of their way to make us comfortable. Room service or request were quick. If fellow guest were noisy, the hotel quickly took care of it. One night the electricity was out on the island, the hotel had a pool party with generators and free food and drinks which my associates loved. The room was clean, spacious, and met all of our needs. If you get a suite or a room with a kitchen, it does come with dishes, utensils and cookware. Overall, I would return.

This is likely the best hotel on Shelter Island.
While not luxury, it is super neat and clean, and has a great location on the island.
All the staff I interacted with (Tasha, Hank, Mike, Torrey) was more than adequately attentive and helpful. I think Torrey at the front desk went beyond being helpful and generous to me during my stay. I had a room in the Casa Del Mar building and was able to enjoy a beautiful sunrise from outside my patio door.
I will definitely recommend this property to others who plan to stay on Shelter Island while in San Diego.

Beautiful! We recently stayed at this hotel and had an amazing experience. Location was awesome, so close to tourist attractions, near the airport and downtown, near quite a few beaches, and near restaurants. The pools were nice and usually not busy. The restaurant was great. Great food, good prices, and excellent service. The staff were wonderful. They were helpful and kind. The housekeeping staff were especially nice. The room itself was clean and nicely renovated. We booked a room with two queens, a kitchen and a pullout couch. The beds were comfortable but the couch was not. The view we had from our deck was nice. Plenty of natural light came through the windows which was a nice touch. Parking was reasonably priced. And finally the walkway behind the hotel to get to the pools was nice. Good to go on a walk while the sun is setting over the marina.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The guy that checked us in was extremely helpful and nice. He went out of his way to accommodate our requests. The hotel is beautiful, and so was our room. Great views as well. I will definately be staying here on our next trip, and will recommend it to all my family and friends.
