Tremendous food and great staff / service! Food is separated into small and big plates designed to be shared. Big plates are for at least two or three people. My wife and I could have just had the pork shoulder and would have been full it was so much and so good. The chorizo dates are a must and everything frankly looks delicious. We found parking tight in front on Randolph and getting to is easy. We'll be back!
Avec had been on my list of restaurants to try when I visited Chicago. Went for an early dinner at 5:30pm on a Friday to sample the amazing Mediterranean tapas here with some fine French wine. We tried the meat and cheese platter, chorizo and dates wrapped in bacon, hummus and some seafood. Every dish was bursting with flavor and we had a great evening.
Arrived for a 330 late afternoon reservation made the same afternoon. The room is all wood, tables are either communal or bar, service is great. The wine list is particularly interesting and focuses on earthy regional wines of Europe. We had oysters, bean salad, dates and lamb neck. All were interesting, inventive and delicious. Can recommend without hesitation and will gladly return again when in Chicago. A true gem.
Imaginative menu large & small plates, a huge wine list and cocktails (also unique)! We loved the dates and the avocado & tomato salad. Paella was delicious (half order was plenty for 2) and you must try the hazlenut dessert. Friendly and personable service without hovering. We'll go back againand again.
Don't ignore the family style nature of the menu. Ordering a small and large plate to yourself is alot of food. Really cool wine list.
Great food. They do take time but it's totally worth it.
Everything is made fresh from scratch (even pitta bread). Loved my visit
Great atmosphere, personally not a fan of the bench seating. Small plate baked oysters were fantastic exploding with flavour. Main dish of paella dish was not up to par. Chicken was super dry, rice was lacking the fresh tomatoes zing that it should have.worth noting friends that were with me really enjoyed the pork shoulder and the apps that they had.
Delicious and trendy. Go in a small group though - 6 of us had to wait nearly 2 hours for a table! A free snack while waiting would have been appreciated, especially since the wait exceeded even the upper bound o their estimate. Otherwise nice service!
Great food and service. Outstanding pork shoulder served with pearl shaped pasta and yogurt. Very difficult to get a table unless you go very early or very late.
One of my favorite restaurants in the city! Delicious dinner and brunch options. The waiter was helpful in making suggestions, and just always a great experience here.
Always amazing. Great food, wine and service. Do the asparagus, oysters and pork shoulder. So good.
The avec Restaurant breakfast burrito was very tasty as well. Ok and now for beverageswe had coffee. But it was the best darn coffee I've had at a restaurant. To think I was going to eat elsewhere which serves very mediocre brew. Great experience. 4 stars for service, food, and coffee. This is a family owned spot and they treat their customers as such.
Service was impeccable and the food was fun and delicious. Did the menu of the day fairly priced $49/person but the whole table must participate. It was so much fun we tried things we wouldn't of picked off the menu and it all for the most part was delicious! Very fun for a date night if you're open to trying different foods. The food was also very large portions. You will not leave hungry from the amount of food each tasting presents. The atmosphere was excellent and lively but the noise level was very controlled. The rose was great. Definitely would go back!
