Great little hotel for savvy travelers. No lift but not a problem in the least.
Room is nice and like it's in NYC. But surely NY is way too expensive and so it's with this hotel.
Personal is really nice and I done recommend to take some time with them!
Cozy and quiet. Excellent location between 9th and 10th Ave. Very nice room, which has really tall ceilings and is surprising big for NYC. Helpful and super-friendly staff. Enjoyed the daily guest newsletter they leave at the door. Nice continental breakfast that reminds me of the hotels in Europe. I want this place to be first on my list for NYC visits in the future.
Our stay at 414 was amazing from start to finish. Tucked away in a bustling part of Hell's kitchen. 2 minute walk to restaurant row and countless bars etc. Our hosts were pleasant and helpful.
My husband and I stayed here for our one year anniversary last month.
We fell in LOVE with this place at first glance.
We were greeted by the wonderfully friendly Drew who was setting up for a free happy hour! After setting our things down in the room, we headed into the lobby to socialize. We were not expecting such a lovely bourbon, wine, and cheese selection!!!
After meeting up with some friends uptown (414 is walking distance to a delicious Hell's Kitchen restaurant row as well as many main Manhattan subway lines), we returned to find champagne flutes and champagne chilling in our fridge!
The following morning, we ate a small breakfast from the lovely breakfast bar in the lobby before checking out with Susan.
Meeting her was the cherry on top to a phenomenal stay in midtown. We will hopefully be returning every year for our anniversary!
We can't wait to go back! The staff was extremely hospitable and the evening cocktail hour just perfect! The rooms were clean and cozy and the location excellent! You may have to walk a few stairs to get to your room (there's no elevator) but it's great exercise and you'll have a cold drink waiting for you downstairs when you're finished unpacking!
The 414 has it all: central-yet-quiet location, service, comfortable beds, breakfast and happy hourAND the most welcoming and helpful staff imaginable! Manager Susan sets the tone for this lovely hotel. She greets you in the morning, is genuinely interested in you, will ask if she can help with sightseeing, show tickets, restaurants, transportation, etc. Her entire staff follows her lead; guests feel like they are members of the family.
This hotel was wonderful from check in to check out. It is a small boutique hotel that is warm and welcoming. We had two rooms, one a king bed room with a separate sitting area and another room with two queen beds. Both rooms were very comfortable. Nice linens and nice towels too.
My wife and I stayed here for a weekend recently to celebrate her birthday. The location is perfect. An easy subway ride and walk from Grand Central and just a few blocks from Broadway and the theaters. Yet you feel that you are in a quiet residential area. Great restaurants abound nearby. We loved hanging out with the other guests at the happy hour and sharing our experiences. Susan, Andrew, and the staff were fantastic. You feel like you are at home among friends. We really appreciated the restaurant suggestions and the daily newsletter. The breakfast was decent. We had a room on the 4th floor with no elevator, but didn't mind the exercise to work off some of the great food we ate over the weekend. When Susan found out it was my wife's birthday, she left her with a nice surprise. We plan to be back next year. We would not think of staying anywhere else!
