Not for the faint heart. Third floor rooms require navigation of historic stairs. Hallways and porches wide and high ceilings. Some of the room furniture needs to be upgraded. Hosts are friendly and accommodating. Breakfast excellent. Downtown Hendersonville accessible and not to be missed.
Nice place, definitely check on which room because some rooms have updated bathrooms, others definitely not. We stayed in one with a tub that kept leaking- and the shower curtain the lined the tub with was like having another person in there with you- very cramped. Liked the evening wine and porch. Breakfast is a mausoleum - no music so not very lively. Food is great though.
I've heard about the Waverly Inn from friends who have stayed there, but haven't had the pleasure myself, however, if the service and attention to detail at their Sunday brunch is any indication, a stay at the Waverly Inn would be an absolute delight. They are friendly, accommodating, attentive and when my mother especially enjoyed one of the brunch courses they provided her with a hand written recipe from the chef. They are great ambassadors of Henderson county and I am glad they are in the business of showing visitors around!
Rooms were very nice and cozy, personal bathroom with shower or bath in each room. Rooms come with one or two beds of varying sizes, with fluffy bedspreads and pillows that are very comfortable. Staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. There is a social hour for guests at night with snacks, craft beers, and wine in the downstairs common area. The breakfast served in the morning also by extremely friendly staff is very tasty and made to order, leaving you with a burning desire to return and stay again. Five out of five stars, excellent establishment!
Our stay here was absolutely amazing. The owners were very kind and the staff were very friendly. The room was beautiful with a huge bed that felt like sleeping on a cloud. The room is equipped with both AC and heat. The shower was also great with a nice amount of pressure. There is also free wifi and free satellite TV which we enjoyed. The wine and cheese social had a very nice selection and all guests showed up. The best part was the morning breakfast: Tiramisu French toast!
Lovely! An original Southern boarding house dating to the 1890's. Clean, comfortable and truly welcoming! Within walking distance of the downtown area's food, nightlife and shopping.
My wife and I spent a week at the Waverly Inn. The location is perfect, right at the end of Main St in downtown Hendersonville. We found Mike and Tracy to be most gracious hosts. They were always kind and welcoming. Keep in mind that this is also their home. They offer suggestions to the local places to eat, and will assist with reservations if you would like. We had a couples massage at the Inn's massage room, and Tracy set that up for us. They had very good masseurs (Linda Sussie) come to the Inn for us.
The rooms are nice, clean and well kept. They keep the unoccupied rooms open, and you are welcome to walk through them. We felt they were all spectacular. They also have several common areas to enjoy, including several reading/meeting rooms, a dining room with snacks, teas and coffee, as well as a first & second floor porch/balcony to sit out and enjoy the beautiful mountain weather.
Now, on to breakfast. We enjoyed breakfast every morning, and they try to use local farm to table ingredients whenever possible. The breakfast is made to order, and the menu was very complete with choice of eggs, meats, fruit & cereals/steel cut oatmeal, breads, coffee & tea, juices and a daily breakfast special. Quiche, baked apple pancakes, banana pancakes, caramel apple Belgian Waffle and breakfast skillet were some of our breakfast specials during our stay. Also, if you happen to meet Robin serving you breakfast, tell her "hello" from us. She is very nice. She made my wife a cup of French Vanilla coffee one morning, and my wife liked it very much. Every morning after that, Robin remembered and asked if she would like a cup if French Vanilla. We thought that was very sweet.
Our only regret about our stay is that we had to leave and come back to reality, and we know we will stay at the Waverly Inn again, next time we are in Hendersonville.
My wife and I loved our stay and slept wonderfully. Our room and bed were so comfortable, we almost slept past breakfast. The house is large but still has a very quaint and historic feel. It's in a great location and you can walk to all the shops and restaurants. The breakfast was excellent. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. We've stayed in quite a few B&Bs and this may be our favorite.
Location is perfect. Within walking distance of historic hendersonville. Rooms are good size with bathrooms. I would avoid the Gentian room if you're tall. The shower is only about 5 ft high! Breakfast is fresh and offers a good variety. Owners are very friendly!
Quaint place to stay. The host and hostess were so attentive and accommodating. Each room has its own bath. The house is a historic landmark.
Old fashioned charming rooming, boarding house with relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast was in a sunny large room with lace curtained Windows. The beds were comfortable with very clean feeling. Location and cost were great. We will stay here again next time.
Congenial host. Comfortable rooms. Nice evening happy hour wine hour. Tasty breakfast. Central location and easy walk to downtown. A bit of street noise.
We loved this place and plan to be there again very soon. It's a very old house, and the rooms are sized accordingly. We were very comfortable, and would not want it "modernized." It's within easy walking distance of shopping and dining. The owners are very friendly, and breakfast is divine! The evening refreshments on the porch are excellent also.
