We hired the mustang as a wedding car and found Smart Car Rental very easy to deal with. The car had a bit of wear and tear but nothing major and great for the price!

Useless. I emailed straight after making booking to confirm about credit card and colour available. They confirmed must have
Credit Card and Mustang available for my booking is red, only to get an email that went straight to spam to say booking was cancelled.
Rang up when went to pick up and office was closed, to be told car is not available till a few days later. So basically left high and dry. Next time they should ring cancel a booking! That is the "SMART" thing to do. Just common courtesy.
I recommend Hertz, they rent the same vehicle for a little cheaper. Only reason I went with "SMART" is because they had cool pics on Facebook.

Rental went smoothly, but I'm unable to return the car keys. Which is pretty hilarious if I didn't have to go out of my way to walk to their lot to try and return the keys.

I rented the car for 4 days and requested late drop off at 7pm, which I was charged extra for. No problem. But when I arrived at 6pm to drop the car off the gate was closed, the only spot to park the car was taken and there wasn't a key drop box (how is this not a thing?). I called the airport number and the city number a couple times each and got through to the city location and was told to park the car in front of the gate and I could drop the keys off tomorrow (now today). I work so I told the person on the phone that I would be by between 5 and 6pm, and he said no problem. I got there today at 5 40pm and the gate was closed and no one was there. I tried calling both locations a few times and got no answer. There isn't even voice mail set up :(.

I've messaged the online chat feature as well and have no response.

This is pretty frustrating.

Anyways if you guys can contact me (the number that's called you ~8 times in the last couple days), that'd be great. We can arrange for you to come pickup the keys from me. I work full time so I can't keep coming to your lot for it to be shut down and have no way of contacting you.

I'm also very surprised no one called me before they left and shut down today.

Excellent service from start to finish. Trustworthy, friendly and reliable. We dealt with Mani the whole way through and he was understanding and accommodating. Mani helped me to organise all the fine details like getting picked up and dropped off and was patient in explaining the insurance etc. We thought he owned the company he was so professional! Would recommend this company.

I must say many thanks to Vinay. I wanted book a cabriolet for Christmas but all cars were booked already so I got notice about that. Unfortunately I didn't read my email properly so I came to the office at my original booking day. Here I found out how silly am I. Lucky for me here was Vynai who helps me solve all situation. He was really nice, hepfull and even the whole fleet were booked he made few calls and in few minutes he found out for me other cabriolet cars. I can just fully recomended as the way how company treats customers is extremely high.

Just a short walk from where our cruse liner came into Auckland Port, the customer service was excellent, our short 1/2 day hire was easily accommodated with a suitable hire price and we couldn't have hired from a better place. I can recommend Smart Car Rental. Gary

Awesome place to rent a vehicle in Auckland. I made the silly mistake of missing the free number of KMs per day, gave a call to Brendan and he gladly offered a change of vehicle even though I have already collected the limited KM vehicle. Brendan linked me up with Vinay and an almost brand new vehicle was provided to me.

What they did help saved me around $600.

The vehicle offered was in great condition and the handover takeover process was done professionally with proper identification of any existing damages.

I booked a Ford Mustang a week ago sales man said need a credit card sweet as my friend got one ☝️ they happy about last min they changed there mind cancelled my booking we booked another car else we didn't expected such a wrost experience like this before. I wouldn't recommend this car rental anymore

The car I had was brand new which is probably a rare chance but in general am told that all their cars are less than a year old. Good place to go for more special cars. Will use their service again

I have rented a car from Smart Car Rental by the Auckland Airport once in June 2015 and once in Jan 2016. Both occasions, I had experienced excellent services. But after the last rental, the dispatcher reminded me that the bond will be refunded in two weeks. Two weeks after returning from my holidays, I check my Visa account, there was still no refund. Also I recalled that my first rental, there was no refund either. Therefore, this company does not refund the bond unless customers inquire about it.
After emailing the company, I received the bond from June 2015 as well as the recent rental from Jan 2016.

So if you do rent from this company, please follow up on your refund of the bond.
