Although reasonably priced the general maintenance on the finer things such as paint/wallpaper pealing off, dirty carpets makes the rating below average.
Great place especially for those who have pets
Great apartments, small but nice bathroom (hot tub). Very hot from thermal pipes running inside the rooms with no aircon. Great location but very noisy with apartments so close neighbours echo throughout. Cleaners not so friendly and very nosy.
Rooms are way too small
We stayed there last year and we loved it. Everything was clean and tidy. For me I felt like home :) I loved the set up and the orange colors. Very close to town. I loved it and would go back any day.
Great for the pass through traveller, cozy rooms, thermal bath, great hosts
Very comfortable compact studio rooms, personal spa pools outside are wonderful (though not so easy for short gals like myself to climb in/out of a plastic stool might have been handy).
Friendly reception and very helpful in giving directions and suggestions.
Apart from the stairs in my family apartment is a bit old and makes squeaky sound.
The dining table and room layout was perfect for a family of 7~~~
If you're looking for accommodation with a difference, this is the place! They say on their site "Grafton Oaks Hotel Auckland New Zealand is where price conscious travellers go for top-notch Auckland Hotels" - um top-notch? From my personal experience there "Top-Notch" appears to mean:
* Used tissues containing who knows what under the bed
* Tiled floors covered in black grime
* Showers with a water flow that I can urinate faster than
* Showers that also not only abruptly shut off just as you lather yourself with soap, but also can only settle on either very hot, or ice cold - warm is obviously not a 'top-notch' option
* Wall heaters that you can't control and keep the room at a suffocating level of warmth
* Acoustics that allow you to be lulled to sleep by the vigorous activities of the neighbours
* Parking that is complicated, not guaranteed to have your car accessible when you need to get to it (seriously pay the extra $1 and use the adjoining Wilson Carparking - the $1 saving is not worth the headache!)
One bonus was the bed was comfortable and all linen was clean.that's about all I could sayoh, and the roof didn't leak when it rainedDouble bonus!
Price conscious doesn't necessarily mean that you don't care about the facilities - yes we were on a budget, but sadly the experience didn't remotely meet the pictures and description on the website.
