I definitely recommend this place. The staff is very helpful, you're in the center of the city with great access to all the activities there (and still only a five or ten minute walk to either shore / beach), and the price is reasonable. The room was very clean and came with both a fan and A/C, though I wished the windows had screens on them as we didn't want to let bugs in, but the outside temperature was perfect (in February).

We stayed here in a room with a kid's loft (without any kids, but it was what we could get on short notice). The loft was really cozy and probably great for a kid you can trust to handle a ladder on her own. It's technically "stairs", but is so steep, the distinction for little hands might be small. The loft itself is really cute and our 7 year old niece that visited us loved it and wanted to stay there rather than at the resort they were at.

The wifi was spotty, but then, so was cell data on the island, usually at the same times. Not just a problem in this hotel, but all over the island (unless at the big resorts maybe). Bandwidth often cycled up and down between 2Mbps and 0. Usually good enough for the internet, but I wouldn't want to try and do real work here over a VPN.

Breakfast was basically a continental breakfast, but we usually skipped it and ate at one of the many restaurants nearby. The hotel is situated on a walking street over several restaurants, shops, and bars, and we had a street view for our stay. It was noisy, but the noise died down around 11:30 each evening and was very quiet by midnight. The noise often started up again between 5 and 7 am, so if you're not comfortable sleeping in a "city" environment, you might ask for a room that doesn't face the street.

The hotel rents towels for taking out of the hotel for a deposit of about $10USD (you can exchange them for clean ones at any time) and rents out an in-room safe for a deposit of about $20USD. We had no problems with anything "going missing" throughout our stay and while usually only the front desk staff spoke English (or felt comfortably that they could), the entire staff was great and very helpful.

Big bang for the buck here. Right on the central street, great staff, clean rooms. WiFi was spotty, but so was general cell reception around town. If you get a room facing the street, be aware it'll be noisy. Restaurants close down around 2330 and begin opening again around 0700, but it's no noisier outside those hours than sleeping downtown elsewhere.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in 2 different rooms because the bigger one was just free for 3 nights.
Both of the accommodations were cozy, clean and we really felt like home there. The furniture and the decoration are made with love and the staff is very friendly.
The location is great - in between lots of restaurants, shops and a 3 minutes walk away from 2 of the beaches of Isla Mujeres. It's also just a 5 minutes walk away from the ferry terminal, what is great when you arrive with a lot of luggage.
The breakfast was delicious, a lot of healthy and organic stuff and for the ones who like it sweet, there is a great variety of cakes, muffins and donuts :)
We loved our stay here and enjoyed every minute :)

Just had one night here but the room was clean, location was central, and reception staff very willing to help out. Decent wifi and for the price, I'd definitely recommend!

Great location on the main street surrounded by lots of bars and restaurants, and just a short walk to the beach. Room is basic but clean and great value for money

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for one complete week in August 2017 and our experience was fabulous. The hotel is owned by a family. The staff is very hospitable and accommodating. The room was clean and just right for our trip. The morning breakfast included a variety of choices to suit individual tastes. The hotel is situated 10 minutes from Playa Norte, the main beach in the area. Along the way, you will see a variety of artisanal shops and different types of restaurants. A convenience store is nearby as well as a supermarket in case you need anything. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Isla Mujeres.

Great place for easy access to the beautiful beaches of Isla mujeres. Clean, with complimentary breakfast. Friendly staff. 5 stars if our air conditioner had worked.

Located right in the center of everything, between Ultramar ferry pier and North Beach. Well worth the money. The only con for me is the breakfast that includes only cereals, yogurt and fruits. But my wife thinks this is an advantage :-)

We had a very enjoyable experience at Hotel Bucaneros! The room was always very clean and we had fresh towels every day, the bathroom was also clean and well stocked, the included breakfast at the hotel was very inviting and yummy, and the overall attitude of people that worked at the hotel was very positive! The location of the hotel is very nice- just right on the main walking area. At night, we could hear some of the street noise from our room but it wasn't loud enough to keep us awake. We were on the third floor and our window faced north. I hope to be back to Isla Mujeres to visit Hotel Bucaneros in the future!

Nice centralized downtown location. Balcony over looking the busy foot traffic only street (Hidalgo). Lots of local vendors and restaurants to choose from. We have been to Isla 2 times, and the first visit was at a resort that was all inclusive -- By staying here, we were able to try several different dinning experiences that was much better than the same ole same ole food at the resort. I would recommend this to anyone - Unless handicapped (lots of steps to the upper rooms) Enjoy!

Isla Mujeres compares favorably to Cozumel for snorkeling these days but it pays to book ahead. I got a better rate and avoided the uncertainty of encountering a fully booked island, as sometimes happens. Hotel Bucaneros is right on Hidalgo and can be a much better deal than many places on the beach. The Continental breakfast in the hotel is excellent as is the friendly, helpful staff. The only negative is the loud noise from the bad sound system at the disco up the street after 9 PM. Hint: the same earplugs you use when snorkeling or your MP3 player are your helpful friends.
