I stayed at this resort a few years ago and loved it so i came back. HUGE mistake! We booked a king bed and ended up with two doubles which is smaller than we even have at home! Our room was right next to a bar that was extremely loud until 2am, then at 4am the alarm in our room went off and we didn't set it, at 5am because we are on the street cars were laying on their horns. The AC in our room sounded like a freight train. I went down too the front desk asking to change rooms and they said I had to wait until 11 the next day. They then proceeded to send someone up to the room an hour later at 6AM to fix the AC! 6AM on our vacation!!!!!! When I tried to change rooms the lady told me all the rooms she could move me to were on that side but for more money they could upgrade us. I shouldn't have to upgrade to get a room I can actually sleep in. I paid the money because I felt I had no choice if I wanted a chance at getting sleep. The woman also told me to feel free to go to another hotel. Great customer service. The beach is disgusting. They have plastic floating all in the super tiny beach from the sandbags and the water has a funky smell. The "all inclusive" resort also made us pay for the Red Bull we ordered which we assumed would be free since it is "all inclusive". We had to make reservations at the Italian restaurant and they said they didn't have any that day but we could get in the next day at 8:30pm. When we got there we were told we couldn't go in because the jerk at the door said my bf shorts were swim trunks. They were not even close to being swimming shorts and they let a man in with sneakers a tee shirt and cargo shorts!!!!!!! After that embarrassment we were standing there trying to decide what to do for dinner and a couple came out and Said they couldn't believe that guy wouldn't let us in. They also said they didn't even have a reservation and were seated
Right away. Why we had to wait 2 days and have a late reservation when others can just walk in is beyond me. We had issues with our room keys and I had to go to the desk FIVE times before they actually fixed it. My bf got too much sun and was feeling sick so I went to the buffet to get him some food before we spent the afternoon in the room. I was told i couldn't take food from the buffet to my sick bf. so if youre sick I guess you don't get to eat here. When I got back to the room I noticed some of the English channels that we were watching earlier weren't working. I called and they said someone would come but no one did. We did not leave the room all afternoon because my bf was sick. When I called back after dinner I was told maintenance was already gone and they would deal with it tomorrow. I said I called at 2:30 and they said someone came by but we weren't here. That was a BLATANT lie!!!! We did not leave the room at all! We still have two more days here and I can't wait to get the hell out of here. I will
NEVER come back to this place again.

Nice hotel with very attentive and friendly staff. The pictures say more than a thousand words about the place. I particularly enjoyed renting the hotels catamaran for an afternoon.

Amazing place to go with family and friends
I had one of my best day aver here, My husband and i we had our wedding here at the Panama Jack Resort in Playa Del Carmen. Our wedding planner was Charon and she is absolutely a beautiful person to work with, planning the biggest day of our lives, she is sweet, perfect, intelligent, talented and much more. Everything I asked her and everything I wanted i had on my wedding she made it work out perfect. Thanks to everyone else too, like the girls on the salon for makeup hair, thanks to all the staff that was involved. Amazing family reunion and wedding at the same time our day was just perfect..

Love. Love. Love this resort! My entire family (my mom,sisters thier spouses and all of nieces & nephews) stayed here! It was beautiful and relaxing. There were tons of excursions that could be arranged at the resort. The most amazing shopping just steps out the door. By far and away the best all inclusive resort food I've ever had. But most of all the service of staff at the resort was really incredible. They make you feel like you want to stay forever!

Great location. A bit messy with the renovations. Good service. Awesome price for all inclusive. The Brazilian steakhouse is good and the breakfast buffet is amazing! I recommend the French toast and omelette station. Taco station around lunchtime was pretty tasty too. Pleasantly surprised.

just one experience that says a lot about those typical resorts: there's a public beach in front of this resort, but at a very narrow passage with a step down to the water they've put a barrier so their guests don't walk on the lose sand. I tried to walk past so I had to walk literally half a meter closer to their pool area but their overeager security guy signalized that I can't walk past, unless I walk through the water or walk like 500 m around the complete hotel complex. I went to complain at the reception but the lady, who must have thought she speaks a very good English, kept repeating the passage had be narrowed by a Taifun. I tried to make clear that this is not my problem and they have to make sure people can walk past but at some point I got tired of the discussion.

My husband & I as well we have 8 other people here for the last 4 years ! And until
Now it’s was great ! Great service, great staff, nice rooms & pretty good food. We arrived 4 days ago & have 6 other people meeting us here. We were NOT told or aware there were such intense renovations going on.. ! Bars ‘ restaurants closed , ruled have changed and such intense strong toxic smells filling our rooms at night !! This is NOT EXCEPTABLE !! there’s nothing they can do for anyone.. a few of us are sick
From the fumes.!! So it’s changing hands and is now Panama Jack’s. !
This is insane, and we won’t be returning !!
Safely we have enjoyed it for the 4 years !
But they have no respect for any returning clients..!!
Time to find our group a new place to travel

So just sharing incase your expecting the great fun of the old gran porto

I believe this is the sister hotel of The Royal Playa del Carmen Hotel, it's across the street. Definitely for family vacations. You can eat @ any of there restaurants when staying @ The Royal Playa del Carmen. They had a Brazilian restaurant that was really good, was quick, very basic but good if you are a meat eater. I'll stick to the Royal!!!😉

Definitely not a 4 star hotel!!! Cute little resort but way too small. Once you've seen the pool, you've seen it all. There is only one pool thats always packed. There is not ONE bartender that knows how to make even a decent drink. The beds are hard as rocks. Don't plan on swimming if you go to the beach because the water is full of seaweed, rocks, and plastic sand bags. Redeeming qualities: The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food in all of the restaurants is very tasty. Also very close to fifth avenue that has great restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. All in all, I made the best of my time there but if I could go back in time I would have spent my money somewhere else.

The resort is nice. It is not the best, but it has it's own charm. The amenities are not laid out logically. Multiple amenities are located outside of the resort Or the boundaries of the resort are more confusing than I realized. The staff is friendly and responsive. I have enjoyed the food so far. The resort is conveniently located near town and the Cozumel ferry. A room upgrade is Worth the money. Overall, it has been a nice stay.

Wish I could put 4.5! Everything was amazing and most things exceeded our expectations.

Be aware that kids are allowed here so expect some noise at times, we used a rain app on a speaker to drown out outside noise at night and had no issues sleeping. But if you pay extra you get access to Royal across the street and that's adults only. I'd definitely recommend doing that so you have the option to get away and have more restaurant options.

Maria Marie's at Royal definitely had the best food.

Walking distance to downtown playa, tons of amazing shopping and food everywhere.

Coco Bongo also walking distance and phenomenal.

Staff at the resort was so friendly from the moment we arrived. So helpful and attentive too!!

Really really happy with our stay :)

We had dinner at the Italian restaurant, Il Precatore if I'm not wrong. One of the best experiences I've had with service. No exaggerations. Marco was our server for the night and he was quick and very friendly. He also was giving us insights into Mexican culture and Spanish language and genuinely seemed to love his job. "Your wish is my command", he kept saying. Good on you, Marco !! Excellent Service. Keep it up.

Life is good at Gran Porto. The staff tries hard to be kind and answer your questions in English. Location is hot, right near 5 Ave - the main drag. Rooms are luxurious with ceramic flooring and stone pillars. 24 hr food could be better. Haven't tried all the restaurants yet.

It's a fun place for friends, couples and family! Drinks by the pool, activities throughout the day, child care and stage shows nightly. The service is incredible and the food is delicious. The beach is not the best here but there's beautiful beach swimming within walking distance. Shopping of all sorts is also a walk away. You can organize tours and adventures from the lobby. If you like to be pampered, this is a good place to be.
