The resort is beautiful and well-maintained. Our room was large and nicely decorated. We upgraded to an ocean-facing room, so the view was gorgeous as well. The service is amazing here. Every staff member has been friendly and helpful. The food really is a gourmet experience and even casual dining is exceptional. If you can, stay at this resort and just relax. Everything will be taken care of for you.

Beautiful and clean place. Staff are very polite and helpful. A lot of activities available In the resort.
Culinary theater is great - you have to book , no extra charge unless you want to do wine pairing.
Room service is great, but wait time is 45 to an hour, but they let you know when you making the order.response / report this review -

Luxurious, all inclusive resort in Riviera Maya! The resort is beautiful, plenty to see and do. Restaurants are wonderful and bars are everywhere! The staff is beyond helpful and friendly!! This is worth every peso and we would definitely vacation here again!

Beautiful, relaxing, friendly, nearly perfect. I have only one complaint and it's a really minor one.
One evening my wife wasn't feeling well and we just wanted to stay in our room for dinner or get something quick. There was no option to do this. We actually had to go back to our room and change out of our beach clothes (shorts and t-shirts) into something that met the dress code for dinner (jeans and button up shirt for me, nothing fancy) because there isn't anywhere in the resort that doesn't have a dress code for dinner and room service isn't available at that time of day. It was annoying, but we still got a wonderful meal and enjoyed our evening.response / report this review -

This place was amazing!!! Room service came around the clock. Staff was great. Made you feel like you were important. Our maids fixed our rooms 3x a day when we left. The beach was beautiful to look at but there were barriers that restricted you. I was in a wedding next door at Generations. It was breathtaking. Weather was great! Food was pretty good. I loved all the inclusive buffets. The other Restaurants were good. Food portions are smaller than you’d expect but you can order whatever you want how many times you want.

My husband and I just stayed at this resort for 5 Days and 4 nights a week ago for our honeymoon and we couldn’t have been any happier. Our experience was absolutely amazing. The resort itself is just unbelievably beautiful and so clean. I have never been so relaxed in my life. The service was beyond amazing. Every worker we came in contact with was so friendly and always wanted to do something for us to make our experience even greater. The food and drinks were incredible. We had people walking up and down the beach serving us free drinks while we laid out in the sun. The restaurants and bars are fun and serve great food. The room was always so clean when we came back at the end of the day and they always left us a cute towel origami at the end Of our bed. They put a cute happy honeymoon banner on our door. The live entertainment each night was so entertaining, we always had a blast. We were surprised that the room service was also free. Great food and was always delivered fast. The weather was absolutely perfect during our trip as well. The only additional thing we paid for was souvenirs and a wine pairing we did during one of dinners at their culinary theater. That was also an amazing experience. There’s so much to do. There are so many pools with tons of king sized beds to lay out in that allows you to relax and even nap while enjoying the beautiful weather. We’ll definitely be staying here again. I highly recommend this beautiful resort. It is absolute paradise.

If you have a chance to book this place, it's amazingly beautiful! Lots to offer for eating and drinking. Completely relaxing either in the many pools or just out on the beach in all the many canopy beds that spread throughout the miles of sand. No need to leave the resort as there is much to do and see here. Butlers who wait on you hand and foot catering to your every need! It is a required meal plan to stay, but completely worth it ALL!!!

Not worth the money. You have to walk miles to get anywhere, the resort says they run a shuttle service but good luck catching a ride. It's either too full, or they weren't going that way. The food was good but the service sucks. The beach has some plastic sand bag floating around, looks trashy. There's an in ground pool that will give you a shock if you get near a light. I made my bartender "Christian" aware of this. They turned the power off, told me I was a drunk even though everyone else in the pool told them the same thing. For the $$$ you can find a better place.

Disappointing is the best way to describe our experience. To start with, the room. We are celebrating a milestone anniversary, so I booked the "beachfront honeymoon suite". This room is by no definition a suite. There is absolutely no view of the beach or ocean (only tops of trees), and you can't even hear the ocean. The room is dilapidated and has a dingy feel to it. Not at all the romantic room I was expecting. It is however clean. Worse yet, there is no wall separating the bathroom from the bed. Only a piece of glass that goes halfway to the ceiling. So if one person needs to use the restroom at night, they risk waking the other. Worse still, the window in the restroom lets light from the hallway outside in ALL NIGHT! So you can't make the room dark. Plus sunlight comes streaming in at the crack of dawn. Our plans to sleep in and catch up on sleep are out.
The food has been ok, but not great. I've yet to order anything I'd want to eat again and about a third of what I've ordered was bad enough to not even eat. For example, the nachos. These had imitation cheese sauce (like the stuff that comes in a can that they use at sporting events for nachos). Not at all what I want or expect from a 5 star resort.
The grounds are pretty and well kept. Additionally the pools are nice with lots of lounge chairs and outdoor beds to lay on. There are plenty of great swim up bars and the drinks taste good. Unfortunately though, all of the bars close at 5! The peaceful atmosphere is only marred by the sound of golf carts whizzing by non stop. (It's a large resort so they use these to shuttle people around). So essentially the sidewalks are mini roads for all the golf carts. No peaceful strolls here.
The beach is the worst of any tropical destination I've visited. They've done something with a tarp in the sand at the edge of the water. I'm not sure why it's there, but it essentially looks like trash in the water. Then there are man made concrete structures sticking out of the water detracting from the view and beauty of the ocean. If you like to get in the water and play or wade like us, go somewhere else. It is too rocky to be able to do that here.
Lastly, for being an all-inclusive resort, I am surprised at how many things require extra money. I've yet to drink a glass of wine because you have to purchase a bottle. They make drinks in coconuts that look great, but again, cost extra. Not what I was expecting and again, disappointing.
You will be better off selecting a different resort.response / report this review -

El Dorado Royale is the best all-inclusive resort I have been to. We first came here about 4 years ago for a wedding and couldn't wait to come back. Everything is amazing, the drinks, the food, the beautiful resort. We couldn't recommend it enough.

One of the best relaxing vacation places I've been. The facilities are upscale and very clean and all of my dinners were 5 star. Very hard to get that at an All-inclusive. I'm sure I will be back real soon.

This Gourmet Inclusive adult-only luxury resort is a perfect destination for couples looking to be pampered in a very romantic setting. Great service and delicious food. Top shelf drinks are included. Plenty of pools, lounge chairs and even balibeds around this large resort. Dozens of bars and restaurant choices. We definitely recommend El Dorado Royale!

This place is absolutely amazing!! The service is exactly as advertised. The check in process was very smooth. The resort is paradise. Perfect for any couple getaway. I was there with my friends, and we had a great time. The night life is pretty cool and they have entertainment every night. the drinks never stop and you can order everything off the menu at once if you want from whatever restaurant you choose! the beach n the pools are beautiful and always clean. the room service is free. this hotel takes its concierge service very seriously. anything they can do to accommodate you they will! I will be telling my friends this is the place to stay whenever you visit Mexico

Firstly, this resort is an upscale and beautiful place for adults needing to get away to relax. We had some issues with booking a tour as they have people in the lobby which is different from the rep you meet with a day after you get there. Luckily, any situation was fixed. Other than that, the food is beyond amazing and healthy and fresh. The entertainment is good too. The beach is a bit rocky but there are some good spots and they really do their best to make you feel so relaxed. Especially with the beach beds and drink service! Rooms are comfortable and people are super nice! Love it here

Staff and service is fantastic! Ivan and Ramon did an excellent job at our pool area. All the staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are comfortable, clean, and beautiful. We will definitely want to book another vacation there.

Cannot laugh enough at the reviews giving fewer than 5 stars. Everything was perfect. The staff were amazing and would do anything required on request. I was there on my honeymoon and we even had a sash on the door to say 'happy honeymoon' which I thought was a nice touch. The minibar was filled each day, along with the room being made up and cleaned to a high standard. We always had plenty of towels, making excursions even easier.
The sooner people realise that the "eyesore" sandbags are there to calm the sea, the better. Swimming would be impossible without the sandbags and concrete, so to be honest, I was thankful of them. It made it much easier to snorkel with the variety of fish swimming in the crystal clear waters. The beach was always clean and the seaweed is raked up and collected to ensure it doesn't build up too much.
The food was always perfect and any requests I had (my wife is vegetarian), they provided. The portion sizes may be 'gourmet', but the fact of the matter is, you can order as many times as you like. I had two lunches and two breakfasts on many of the days I stayed there. On another note, drinks were always to a high standard and the alcohol was never scrimped on.
All in all, the stay was genuinely perfect and me and my wife even made a point of looking through the poor reviews on our last night, wondering whether they stayed at the same place as us. 5 stars and I would highly recommend it.response / report this review -

Very friendly and helpful staff. Ruth and Carlos were our concierges and they were very helpful with anything we needed. We stayed in a casitas which was nice, but nothing over the top. The food was all pretty good and there is a good variety. It is all served with excellence. There are a lot of activities to do during the day, but most things stop at 5. The only thing stopping them from getting a five star rating is the price for what you get and the fact that the beach is not very nice. There is a lot of rocks and shells in the sand and cement pillars all along the coast the really take away from the beauty. Overall though a very enjoyable place to stay.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS RESORT! I stayed here for a wedding in 2017 and was by far the worst resort I've stayed at in Mexico. Not only is the cost of the resort ridiculous (which would be fine if my experience was good), the level of service was awful. Most of the hotel employees are rude and quite stuck up. There are man made sand bars and concrete barriers all down the beach, making the beautiful ocean just horrendous. I was overcharged by $500 when I left and currently in a dispute with the resort. I would never recommend this resort or any other resort associated with this chain. The resort actually made it seem like we weren't in Mexico. Most of the people there for the same wedding had a similar experience. The only thing good about this resort was the food.

Overall a good experience. We stayed in the Royale section. They didn't do anything exceptional, but they did everything good. Some criticisms: the resort was very dark at night and definitely needed more lighting. The beach was rocky (with large boulders) and not very picturesque. The food was somewhere between average and good; very seafood heavy, great if you're a seafood lover, but unfortunately I wasn't. I honestly felt they needed a bbq type restaurant there given that the majority of clientele were American and Canadian. The room was nice and roomy but not too luxurious; I was expecting more. The lobby was not as grand as other resorts and left much to be desired. The overall service was very good, and staff were generally friendly. We were treated well, and would recommend it to others. Will I ever go back? probably not, there's simply too much else out there to see.
