Great Vacation. Here celebrating our 8yr Anniversary and a very special Birthday. Very nice atmosphere and extremely nice resort staff. This has been one if our best trips that we've had. Thank you for having us.

Staff and property was amazing. Great bar tenders and entertainment staff. The beach was small but it was all you needed. The only thing I wouldn't write home about was the food. The restaurants are too small for the guests so reservations fill up way too quickly. The buffet leaves much to be desired. I'd give the food a 5 out of 10 but the rest if the resort gets a 9 out of 10.

We had so many issues with this hotel with the exception of the food. Food was amazing however having to make same day dinner reservations was ridiculous.
Our sliding door on the patio did not lock.
There was a one inch gap in the front door when the door was closed that had a major draft in the room.
Our refrigerator did not work.
We did not receive replacement towels or bottled water like we were told upon check in.
The only beer in the hotel was Corona or Corona Lite which were not cold.
In addition, upon check in we were immediately signed up for a vacation travel club presentation.
We wanted to be relaxed on vacation. This hotel gave us nothing but frustration.
I woukd never return nor do I recommend this Super 8 equivalent of a hotel to anyone.response / report this review -

Leaving here today. It will be missed. Great food and drinks. Very clean. Beach is great. Workers are awesome. Felipe is the hardest worker at the resort. He went above and beyond. I definitely will be back again soon. Thank you for a great time and thank you for Felipe going above and beyond the call of duty.

Decent place with great qualities, and room to improve. Rooms are spacious and bathrooms too. That said, the rooms lack bureau storage and luggage racks. Daily replenishment of in-room refrigerators is nice. The property is beautiful and the cool, sparking pools very nice. The on-site buffet is decent, not the best but by no means bad; note the made-to-order and freshly prepared entrees (such as the pizza, noodle bar) are tasty. The nighttime entertainment (when we were there) was terrific. The beach area is rather small and cramped during peak hours. In my opinion, the property would do well to improve security and specialty restaurants. These comments were all shared with management on their online guest survey.

Our stay was excellent. Check in was super fast, staff were very friendly and helpful. Food and drinks were awesome!! The nightly entertainment was phenomenal!! Would go back to this resort.

If you have ever experienced a 4 or 5 star resort, this resort is not for you. This is an older all-inclusive resort that struggles to offer more than average service and barely editable food. If you have never experienced a 4 or 5 star resort please ignore this post as this resort might be up your ally.

i was here a few days ago. me and my family really enjoyed this hotel.The buffet had the best food in my opinion the alcohol was alright. it was very clean and very well organized. The workers around the hotel were super friendly and always made sure you were taken care of. It had night shows and had a daycare which was very convenient for kids. The only reason i give it a 4 was because the front desk people need to improve their service a bit and also the spa area was a bit small for people to sit in the Jacuzzi, the beach was nice but a bit small but their are plenty of other public beaches you can take a taxi or bus to.
Be careful with the taxi drivers. I had one taxi driver drive me up to the night life for 7 dollars one way (10 minute drive) while another taxi driver charged me $10 dollars one way just to go up the street to the Starbucks literally a 1 minute drive i could see the Starbucks from my hotel.. ask before you enter and always negotiate!!
Bus stops are close by and i would recommend if you don't have children.
Over all i would come back to this hotel. loved my experience here.response / report this review -

My wife and I have stayed here 3 times this year. The place is great but even better are the people and service. Food is good and they have a great selection for everyone. Bartenders, waiters and waitresses are exceptional and always have a smile on their face. They have activities at the pool and beach which Brandon makes so much fun, you can't resist getting involved or just watching. Volleyball in the pool is a great time, you meet so many people from different places around the world. My wife and I are the type to just lay around and relax. I hear the excursions are good, but I find everything we need right at the resort. My wife loves their spa, she says they treat you so well. The view from the rooms are very nice, we recommend the ocean front room, so cool to be so close to beach. Their is a dinner option that is extra, but what a great time. We had steak and lobster at the gazebo by the pool for my wife's birthday. You can have it on the beach as well. The beach area is small compared to other resort's but that is only because of location. We have built a relationship with most of the workers there because of their friendliness. Just remember to tip your servers, you would be shocked how many don't and then wonder why some servers aren't as attentive.

The service was amazing and the staff went above and beyond to make my birthday special. They are super friendly and always make sure if you need anything they will provide. The resort gave us access to many excursions and they walked us through the process of transportation whenever we went off site. I highly recommend staying here and you truly get as much food and drinks as you want!

This resort is very basic. When we first pulled up, I thought we made a mistake. The exterior isn't very inviting or nice looking. We drove past many hotels on our way to the Occidental, and those hotels were beautiful, impressive and modern! After seeing all those hotels and pulling up to the Occidentalit was disappointing. No curb appeal. Although, our first impression was negative the lobby and the overall resort is very nice. The lobby restrooms are the best. The rooms smell weird like mold. They provide daily sodas, waters, and Corona in the refrigerator, in every room. The food at the hotel is not very good. The Mexican restaurant provides the best food. You have to make a reservation for all the restaurants except the buffet, which gets overly crowded with no room and you have to wait a long time. The beach isn't very good neither! Its very small and the current pushes you the entire time you are in the water, making it an uncomfortable experience. I wouldn't recommend this resort because it is basic. If you're looking for a n exceptional or good resort in Cancun keep on searching!

My self, husband Richard, sister law Brenda & brother in law Scott loved the accommodations and atmosphere of this resort. The restaurant staff especially Ricardo was an exceptional waiter we had. As everyone else was. We would return again and anyone who likes a small resort and clean place for a vacation, we suggest this resort.

This was a small resort but overall a good experience. I stayed at this resort for a week with my sister and we got back a few days ago. I was not overly impressed with the food. I would rate it a 6/10. The buffet always seemed to have the same food for each meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and waiting in line in the mornings for a reservation for the restaurants for dinner was very inconvenient. I would think there could be a better way to do this. Waiters were slow in most restaurants and would take awhile to notice you were even there. My favorite restaurant was the Mexican one and Rebecca the manager was amazing. She truly wanted to know how the service was and if the food tasted good. She helped us throughout the week with any questions that we had and she was outstanding. The beach was small but nice and there was never any competition for beach chairs in the mornings. Rooms were nice and big. I enjoyed doing the yoga with Lorena in the mornings and would strongly recommend this to anyone. I would also recommend going to the shows at night, but not the disco one. Overall this was a great vacation and would only have a complaint on the food.

This was a very basic hotel for all inclusive. Drinks were not great, food was okay. Room and public areas were all VERY clean. After complaining initially, management staff worked to correct things that were wrong which I did appreciate. Mini bar was not always restocked, toiletries in bathroom also not always restocked. Shows were kind of boring, all dancing, no audience participation. Used to more luxurious, typical all inclusive and this just didn't compete.

I just came back 2 days ago from this hotel, and my family and I had a wonderful experience. We usually go to larger resorts, that take a lot of time just to walk from your room to the lobby, pool, buffet, etc., but at Occidental, it was very easy to get around, since everything was so close by. The food was excellent, and the waiting staff were very friendly. The hotel is very clean, especially since there are lots of people constantly cleaning the windows, pool, etc. I really enjoyed my stay.

Exceptional staff always makes you feel welcome..Entertainment was great, the director personally stopped in the buffet and restaurants nightly to invite us to the show, wish I could remember his name, he deserves compliments on a job well done :)
Beautiful clean and safe hotel, couldn't have asked for more. Great clean, well stocked restaurants and buffets that were always staffed with helpful friendly staff that made you feel welcome..
Beautiful beach views and awesome bar and wait staff..

The only dissapointment was during our check out we observed a guest ranting and raving how there stay was a disaster from the moment they arrivedVery sad to hear and watch as this person belittled the staff at the check in/out counter..For the life of me I can't imagine what was wrong with their stay, as ours far exceeded my expectaitions
Great job Occidental Costa Cancun.
Hope we can revisit soon, this time with our children so they too can experience the paradise we experienced :)response / report this review
