A little dated but it's Mexico, what do you expect. The place is extremely clean. The staff is eager to please and do they're best to satisfy all your needs. Only ate at the reservation only restaurant once and the food was decent. The main "buffet" is pretty good. They changed it up daily and the people that complain are they ones that are scared to try something different. Over all, one of the better resorts on the island

We really enjoyed our time there. But just remember, this is a you get what you paid for type of vacation. If you're expecting Sandals Resort, beaches Resort, you'll be disappointed. But if you want to spend a decent amount of money for a nice vacation, this is it. The main restaurants food was great, the outside restaurants food was good. The drinks were hit or miss. Their Margaritas were terrible, but there Bloody Mary's were amazing. The beach is beautiful, the rooms are clean, but it is not a modern Resort. Finally, for the money we paid, we loved our time there.

Stayed here twice and will go back again. If you want to snorkel, this hotel has a wonderful reef area right off their beach. Water is beautiful as are the views. Rooms need updating but are very spacious. Only 2 restaurants within the resort. Staff are friendly and most speak English well. Lots of beach chairs and hammocks for relaxing. Pools are large and well laid out. Great to bring kids or to getaway as a couple.

The resort was total trash with leaks from the ceiling along with a very rusty bathroom, the food is simply horrible to the point where I got food poisoning immediately from eating it. They don't even have any straws available for drinks that are also horrible. On top of that, the beach is rather awfully maintained as it is very unsafe with huge sharp rocks and garbage of all sorts laying around everywhere. To make me want to forget about this so called vacation place even more is that there were almost zero activities to take my mind off how dreadful the resort is leading me towards complete boredom. The environment is very well boring with nothing happening at night since everything closes early. I sadly lost weight there because the buffet closes too early and has too little amounts of good food to offer. This is the most professional, recent, and trustworthy review you can possibly read since I have traveled around the world regularly to know that this resort is not what it seems to be. What I described was only the tip of the iceberg.

Positive:
The service was fantastic, on beach service. The rooms were dated, but clean and comfortable with a great view of the ocean. There was great snorkeling to be had just off the beach. The restaurant was very good.
Negative:
The food at the buffet was pretty much the same each night. There was no entertainment at all during both the afternoon and evening (other than a movie being shown). They stopped serving alcohol at 11 and beer by 12. We couldn't sit at the pool bar because of a very strong sewage smell coming from the bar at all times. You have to wake up at 7 to reserve a table for supper and to save chairs for the beach (did not enjoy having to set an alarm on vacation).response / report this review -

Wow, the water here is beautiful with a lengthy concrete dock (mostly filled with birds). They amineties include several water sports and rentals that could be charged to your room. Found staff to be very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the hammocks on the beach.

This is a beautiful, older property that is immaculately maintained. The people are so friendly, you make fast friends. The food was deliciousand the restaurant is such a great experiencewe enjoyed making our reservation for every night. Make sure you pack appropriate clothing, if you expect to be served it's like any other classy place, don't expect to go in wearing flip flops and shorts in the evening. We enjoyed our trip so much 2 years ago, that we are going back today for a week. It's a super relaxing place to unwind. Our biggest decision was what time to have dinner. Tip your server well and you will have amazing, friendly service. ENJOY!!

The minute we arrived into the lobby we were greeted with a drink. Went up to our room to unload luggage and the fun began!!!! Octavio then greeted us by the pool side, and that’s when the fun began!!! He and his other servers put some tables together for our group. Brought us a spread of different food. Then we washed them down with some awesome drinks. Good thing I brought my Yeti mug, they filled that up with Dos XX off the tap. Snorkeling was amazing. Captured some great footage with my GoPro. Even saw a barracuda-off in the distance. We even chartered the Fury to come pick us up at our very own pier at the hotel and we were off. Snorkeled some amazing reefs with the Fury. For lunch time they even have their very one private spot on the beach. Awesome water toys in the ocean to enjoy. I highly recommend this charter.

It was our third visit to the resort. We usually come in June or July but went in October this year. The place was very clean, very satisfied with the room. Being off season, occupancy was low and it was almost like there were more people working at the resort than staying in it! Service was excellent as usual, never an empty glass. As usual there is snack food available all day but ordering off the menu at lunch offers more (better food) variety. Breakfast included buffet of fruit and pastries and also full menu of omelettes, etc. Evening meal was sometimes buffet, sometimes menu only but did not disappoint. Also, dined 2 nights at the Veranda restaurant (fancy, must make reservations at desk) and it was exceptional. Feel very safe at El Coz because you are fairly north of town and enjoy seeing/interacting with the employees who are eager to help you. Special thanks to activity host, Angel, beverage host, Rusbel and manager, Fernando. We will be back!

Great resort! Major positives were the extremely wonderful staff, beautifully kept beach and pools, and the activities the resort offered. We spent about half our time at the resort and there was always something fun to do! Free snorkeling right on their beach. The food was great! Came to Mexico for plenty of Mexican food (the fajitas were fantastic!) and we got it, but they had many other food choices as well. And they kept the drinks flowing! Rooms were nice. Good AC. 10 minutes from airport or downtown. You can also book anything you want to do right from the resort - Parasailing, Pirate ship cruise, dolphins, ruins tours or anything your heart desires. We absolutely loved this place and if we come back to Cozumel - this is where we will stay! Thanks from Pam and Keith! 10/6 - 10/14 :)

Pros: beach side, crystal clear waters so you can snorkel right by the hotel, great 18 holes mini golf, spacious rooms, polite staffs, all inclusive everything, dive/ snorkel/ jet ski rentals at the resort.
Cons: watered down drinks, food can get boring quickly, average quality food and drinks, pools need cleaning! Hotel rooms could be maintained better.
We stayed for one night which was great! Highly recommend ditching the buffet and making reservations at the restaurant by the check in!response / report this review -

Pool is great for kids and they have a kids program. okay snorkeling decent fish but little coral. This is a great spot for an off cruise line shore excursion just hire a driver from the port entry and about a five minute drive. The food is just okay which is the only reason for not a five star. It was a good all-inclusive resort. The staff was always hustling to insure that we were all taken care of. They were friendly and helpful.
We enjoyed the pools and beach. The was always something to do at the resort, if you chose to participate, from yoga to Spanish lessons. They was also nightly entertainment suck as movies and live music.
My wife and I may try another place or two out, but I feel confident we will be coming back to this resort.response / report this review -

This was an amazing resort with accommodating staff. We were able to go with an open bar and free food (all inclusive). If you wanted a fancier dinner you were able to reserve a spot at the indoor restaurant (La Veranda); this was a major plus! I am hoping to travel there again! Great snorkeling and great people.

Overall the place was decent, nice rooms, services, and a very helpful and pleasant staff. However, our bathroom light was held in by electric tape but functional and the remote for the television was infuriating because it didn't function correctly. The food was pretty good but unless you were eating the buffet anything ordered from the menu took 40 mins or more to arrive, even simple things such as nachos or French fries. The experience was a good one but there should be more food varieties and a stronger effort at swift service.

The resort has a nice beach, good location and very friendly, hardworking staff. If you don't care about having good food, then this is good for you. If you want a nice meal, authentic foods or even food with flavor, I'd suggest something else, or you'll be taking cabs into town for most meals.

My family and I enjoyed our stay here. The buffet food was standard, nothing special. We discovered the lunch menu and once we tried the wings and ribs we regretted not knowing about that at the beginning of the trip! The restaurant for reservations is good, but took quite a while for each course to come and service was slow. Reservations are hard to get too, expect to wait in line in the early morning before they open.
The staff at the bars and pool are amazing. I have never seen harder working people! We got waited on at the beach and had things delivered to our chairs wow! We tipped our servers during the day, and saw most people tipping the staff.
The pool was cold but refreshing! The ocean was great, snorkeling right outside the resort was pretty amazing and had nice clear blue water. Free snorkel rentals! The downside is that the beach is really narrow and you can't really walk down the beach. To the south it's rocky and lots of construction. To the north is the Melia, which has a better beach but if you dare go past it the heaps of seaweed on the beach smell so bad you'll pass out. And the ocean water is almost black, yuck.
The hotel doesn't have a lot of night life either, and being outside of town I was bored sometimes. The activities staff do a good job but it's more geared towards youth. My brothers and I are in our 20s and spent most of the time playing volleyball with teens and kids.
We had a huge room, with a great view, but beds and pillows are not comfortable. Toilets didn't flush well either. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel for a nice budget friendly trip!!!response / report this review -

Stayed in October the staff was amazing, rooms were clean and food was great. The scuba guide Fernando was super nice, he went above and beyond to teach me and my mom how to snorkel. He made me want to come back with friends so they can learn to snorkel too. On the down side they do not have a dance club. And air conditioning in lobby and dining area definitely need to be on lower. But we were there in off season and only a few days wish we would have booked for a whole week instead of 4 days. Also people make sure you tip them all well, they work 12-18 hour shifts with no days off for a lot of them. And they make hardly any money. Mexican minimum wage is $6 a day. Not an hour a day. So be kind and tip well. They are all very hard working and deserve it.

The service was excellent. These people are working so hard to make sure you have a great stay. The food was very good, especially the seafood. We always ordered off the menu. I am not sure why the bad reviews about the food. Plenty of alcohol. If you want stronger drinks, then order doubles. Room was big and comfortable with great ocean views. No refrigerator, but you really don't need one since you can walk to the bars/restaurants and order whenever you want food and drinks (all inclusive). They'll fill up your water bottles anytime you want. Good snorkeling. The reef is to the left of the small pier as you face the water. You have to swim to the left, along the shore, out of their enclosure for best snorkeling. Fins are nice to have but not a real necessity since the current is not very strong.
