My experience here was interesting to say the least. For starters, being fluent in Spanish is beneficial when staying here. Especially if you want to communicate to the front desk and restaurant staff. In reference to the food, everything was mediocre, and lukewarm. I suggest thay they enhance the buffet menu to not repeat the same menu items offered for breakfast. The room was fine, but be prepared to walk, the elevator on our floor was broken unfortunately. Also be careful to close your doors well, the lizards come out at night! On my way home, the front desk staff told me one price for the cab ride, and the cab driver doubled that number by the time we arrived to the airport. It’s all sketchy. The best part about this vacation was the weather.

I don't recommend this hotel!
When booking an all inclusive 5 stars hotel, i expect a lot more then what I experienced here.
Our mini bar was not restocked during our stay. I booked a romantic room with an ocean view. There was supposed to be a champagne bottle in the room. It was there, but there were no champagne glasses.
To book dinner in the hotel's restaurants, guests have the come to the bar during certain 3 hours during the afternoon. Why can't it be done over the phone? That's a mystery.
We booked a snorkeling trip in a glass bottom boat from the hotel's concierge, and when we got there, it was a regular small boat, with a regular bottom.
The food in the buffet restaurant wasn't that good.
Over-all for me it wasn't a good enough experience for the money paid.response / report this review -

We had a wonderful time! We are a family of three from the US and I can honestly say every single staff member went out of their way to make us feel welcome, special and relaxed!
I really can't say enough wonderful things about this resort!
The food was great! The property was beautiful! The people were wonderful hosts! We would definitely come back to Grand Park Royal again!

The resort was beautiful. There were lots of activities (day and night) and a beautiful (although a little small) private beach and infinity pool. The buffet food ( breakfast and dinner) was okay. There were usually 1 or 2 things that were really good. The room was pretty great. The only problem was that the ac wasn't very strong. Room service was really quick though (the chocolate cake was tasty). Cabs were stationed at the resort entrance, and since the island is a little small, we could get anywhere pretty quickly (it was about 10 minutes to the ferry). The only real negative was that since my girlfriend and I were not members, the staff kept trying to sell us a membership. They were relentless (when we were leaving in the morning, and arriving at night). Would definitely stay here again.

Hotel was nice and clean. Not too big. Staff was the best. Buffet food was okay but the restaurant food was really good. I would like for the bars to open up earlier but the hotel doesn't lose points for that in my books. Right as you walk in to the beach, you can see some fish. Bring bread to feed them and have them come right up to you. You will 100% want to have some water shoes. The ground is rocky and sharp. Overall, it was a great place.

This was a wonderful place to spend the weekend! The staff is phenomenal, super friendly and willing to go out of their way to make your stay special. Leo was especially fun, we hung out with him at the Sports Bar Saturday night and had a blast.

Saw a commercial for this resort that makes it seem like a romantic getaway from the bustle and crowds. We got the opposite. Extremely crowded beach that was laughably small on the rocky western side of the island. Screaming kids that literally run into us. On top of that we felt trapped here with crappy food. I won't be staying at one of these high density resorts ever again. Not for us. We did however enjoy a clean room with fairly well kept grounds. Good for families that don't want to plan much and just want a stay-at-the-resort experience

We are frequent travelers and this is the first time I have been compelled to write a strongly negative review of any resort, hotel, or restaurant.
From the beginning, this resort was a great disappointment. We rented two rooms and we were not able to enter either room with our keys. It took the staff around 1 hour to resolve the situation. In the end, one of the rooms had to be switched. Even then, the rooms are quite sparse.
Maintenance was an issue for the entire stay. At one point, the water stopped working in the entire building for around 6 hours. The telephone in our room did not work and was only fixed after 5 separate requests and nearly a full day.
The food in the buffet restaurant was below expectations. We attempted to make a reservation at one of the 3 specialty restaurants. There is a 3 hour window to make a reservation in person. We arrived 20 minutes after the start and all restaurants were full. After talking to the manager, we were given a reservation. However, upon arriving, the reservation had not been booked. In the end, the manger concluded that we could not eat there because of an undisclosed dress code. We ultimately ate most meals outside the resort despite our all inclusive package.
The water in the swimming pools and hot tubs was freezing. We were not comfortable to spend any time in the water. As well, the water in the showers were luke warm.
All of this is a real shame, the location of the hotel is great and the beach front is really beautiful. But you can find this at many resorts. So I would not recommend this resort and I will certainly never return myself.response / report this review -

Resort was very nice, pools were amazing, beach is very small, hot tubs are not hot. Food was really not good. In the restaurants that you have to dress up for, the food is awful!! Beds are hard as a rock. Staff is extremely pleasant. Anytime you go by the lobby their are time share vulchers waiting for you. This is my first time to Cozumel so, I dont know what to compare it with. Overall, the resort is very nice but, the food was so disappointing!

Rooms are not cool enough for us, complained several times and after 3 day, they told us 20° C is as low they can make it go. It would not have been as frustrating if they would have said that up front. Rooms were nice though, upgraded $60 for ocean view, not sure that was worth it, since we are on the top floor and hot! :) Service staff was great, very friendly quick. A very nice resort overall. Our room was not the best, but there were better that we saw. Our bed was not the best, but felt others that were better. So, hit and miss on that level. Food was good, not great, but good. Restaurants for dinner excluded children under 12, and this was pretty unnecessary as the staff did not behave as if it were a high-end restaurant, nor did the food get to a level that it was trying to go for, not that this is an excuse to exclude kids that can enjoy a good meal. Snorkeling off of their private beach was nice. No real features (coral) there, but enough depth to enjoy the Caribbean waters. Drinks were good and plentiful. Swim up bars helped. BEWARE the ground. They've paved their property with incredibly uneven stones. Nice enough to look at, horrible on your feet, balance, the elderly, kids, high heels

Park Royal is gorgeous. Wonderful food and entertainment. Friendly staff. But one can't find an "empty" lounge chair after 7:30am!!
Chairs are "occupied" with blue towels draped over them--no people-- just towels!! Because there aren't enough lounge chairs, people go down very early in the morning to put their towels on chairs for the day! and then go back to bed, I guess- because breakfast isn't served until 7. Since I Dive early, I went down to procure a lounge chair for my non-diving wife at 7:30 on my way to the dive boat. I found only one chair that did not have a blue towel draped over it! So after that, I had to set my alarm for 6:15, quickly throw on a pair of shorts and shirt, and hurry down to get a chair for my wife in a shady spot. NOW ISN'T THAT RIDICULOUS?!! Why doesn't Park Royal BUY ENOUGH LOUNGE CHAIRS to match their occupancy??response / report this review -

The best resort Cozumel has to offer, all-inclusive, guarded/gated! When we arrived, we were immediately given a tequila sunrise and our bags were taken from us and brought to the lounge while we waited for our room key. The service was superb! The food selection was expansive, delicious, and healthy. Also, there were beautiful Caribbean views from our room.

I'm just returning from my stay at the Grand Park Royal. Overall it was a good experience and a real beautiful resort . I loved the easy access to and from the airport, although they charge $9pp but only $5 dollars for a group to go downtown which is not far from the airport so I wasn't sure why it was such a difference . I love how you can leave the resort and go left or right and find shops, restaurants and bars in walking distance. You do have to go under a tunnel to get to the "beach" area which is just a small sandy area. There were several boats docked blocking the ocean view the entire time though. For the real beach experience we took a taxi ($5) to the ferry ($8round trip pp)and spent a few hours in Playa Del Carmen and it was worth it . The food at the resort was just so so but I've been to several resorts in other countries and felt the same. We left the resort and found a local spot in town and 4 people ate for a total of 17 US dollars! The employees were very friendly and so appreciative. Gullerimo was one of my favorite people there! He was a concierge or maybe a bellhop, not sure but he was professional and extremely nice! We didn't use the pool in the middle of the resort because the trees blocked the sun. Our rooms were nice and clean, only thing they would take our wash clothes and not replace them so we had to call each time for more. It was an older crowd and several families with small children. I traveled with a group of women all 30 and under. I still enjoyed it and will definitely like to go back to Mexico soon. They do travel to get you to sign up for a 90 min tour to basically sell you a timeshare. It came with perks like discounted excursions and a free massage for one person. Lol we didn't do that.

We brought our 10 and 12 year old girls and they had a blast. It's not a "family" resort however it was fine for us. There was a large population of 45-70 although there was some 30-35 in the crowd.
Lots of snorkelling which we didn't do.
We were fine with sitting at the beach watching the girls snorkel or having a drink at the pool bar while the girls swarm near us.
Service was very good. Food was very good.
I had fun playing volleyball everyday I was there.
This isn't a party place for young people.
If you love to dive or snorkel then it's great for you. Our room had double beds. I'm used to our queen at home so that's why I gave it one less star. Other than that, I would come again.
