Breathtaking. Superb views. So peaceful
Nice part of Landmannalaugar trek, lot of trees in this area.
Love the place. So isolated its beautiful.
Very nice reserve for hiking. Difficult too reach by car though because of several deep river crossings. I'd recommend to take a bus service there.
Great hiking area, only reachable by special vehicles. Do not try to cross it in an SUV - last river before the campsite is at least 90 cm deep in summer.
Volcano huts camping area were a great location after a 4 day hike. Other small trails to do while there as well as hiking to the top of a volcano.
We backpacked the Laugavegur trail and ended at the Volcano Huts in Dorsmork. It was a beautiful place. There are multiple hiking trails in the area. Some go up a volcano and other go to the glacier.
Really interesting place to stay. Real Iceland. Good food there too.
Awesome place.. camped here at the Volcano huts.. sauna, hot pool, hot showers, good restaurant.. loved it here after the Laugavegur trek.
A great ride to the end of the valley is rewarded with stunning views, lovely hiking trials and a serenity that beautiful, but it can't be done with rental cars, not even SUVs. There are sometimes 10 or more fords to drive through (it constantly changes). Apparently, people have died here trying to cross a river. Use a super jeep or take the bus.
Well worth travelling too. Tough hikes in the winter but rewarding
I've done the Laugavegur trail a couple of times now. It's like nowhere else on earth. Stunning scenery. Wildly different depending on the weather. Hot spring, black sand, volcanic rock, verdant valleys and icy cold rivers. If you want to go hiking. Come here.
If you ask an Icelander about the most beautiful place in the country, many would reply Þórsmörk. For many Icelanders, Þórsmörk is their favorite place for camping and visiting during summer and the number one place if they had to set up a list of favorite locations in Icelandic nature. It is almost romantic and comparable to our sacred place Þingvellir except in the Highland. It is an oasis surrounded and protected by mighty rivers, mountains, mountain ridges, cliffs, and glaciers.
We took a super jeep tour to this spot and loved the glacier photos. The ride was really fun. I've never driven across a river in an automobile before.
Don't miss out on this place. The magical forest, lush valleys, and view of the glacier is fantastic. During a good sunset, the place can't be beat, anywhere in Iceland.
