Nice and cosy place where you can try out the local Icelandic cuisine. The service is quick, the food is great. I didn't need a reservation to be seated, which is nice.

Couldn’t be happier with the food, service, and atmosphere. We Had the smoked puffin appetizer and the whale steak and seabird entree. HIGHLY recommend this spot.

We asked a local Icelander where the best place to try puffin and Whale was and we were not disappointed. Excellent service and beautiful food. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to have a true Icelandic experience.

Good service, friendly staffs, delicious food and good ambiance, what more can you ask for? Note that the shop does look small, not sure about upstairs seating though. Might need to book in advance if you have larger groups or want to be seated during peak hours.

Outstanding restaurant! Went here for a Thanksgiving meal far from home. Did not disappoint. We had the herring appetizer which my mother and husband loved (I am not a fan of herring so I skipped). For main courses we had lamb filet, halibut with langostine and wild sea bird (Puffin) in a wine reduction. Dessert was homemade vanilla ice cream with chocolate and caramel sauce. Rekya vodka and white wine. Skipped the coffee. Currently delirious. Restaurant staff was lovely and the space was quite pretty.

I'd give it 5 stars but the salty cod was very salty. Very, very salty. We spent $50USD for salt and we were lucky enough to get fish with it. Although the puffin, potato soup, and horse steak was good.

Great place with great food. They lose one star as their plating looks more like one of an toddler, but with that said, njam njam njam! Btw, it goes without saying since this is a good restaurant AND in Iceland, but here we go: this is not a budget place..

Unique dishes of whale, puffin and horse meat. First time trying these meat so we have no idea what to expect, but all tasted quite good. We wanted to share a plate of horse meat as our main but the waiter told us that we can't share a main so they will split it into two portion with more sides and charge about ISK1000 more. Wedges in the horse meat turned out to be good so not complaining =)

Really delicious food, and they have quite a few Icelandic specialities everyone should try. Make sure to try the fermented shark (it's totally fine, the canned versions of this might smell, but the dish they served did not smell at all, and was quite delicious,) smoked puffin and whale sashimi appetizers. I also had the fish stew for the main course, which is not really a "fish stew" but nonetheless fantastic.

Excellent food and service. The restaurant is very cosy yet remains elegant. The dishes are mostly traditional Icelandic, but they do have other French fare too. Whale is interesting but unremarkable. If you told me it was beef I would believe you. Overall the restaurant is highly recommend. Also, please ignore the (poorly) coordinated effort to drive down the ratings of this place. Some people obviously do not understand that other countries have different traditions.

Arrived late in the evening & they graciously fed me :) absolutely delicious. I had the lamb, but this place is great for traditional Icelandic food. Cozy atmosphere & great service.

The food was delicious and price reasonable compared to other restaurants in Reykjavik.

Portions were quite reasonable, my wife and I both left feeling quite full.
Our server gave us warning about what to expect (for example how dark the guillemot meat is, and how it's quite unlike the typical poultry one would expect).
I also heard her cautioning other diners about the shark. This, to me, shows that they care about pleasing their guests.

The restaurant is very cozy, and decorated with a variety of interesting knick knacks.

While we were eating some people came in who were having trouble locating their accommodations. The staff helped them to contact their host, even using one of their personal phones.

The elephant in the room is that they serve whale. We personally elected not to try it.
If you are opposed to it, don't order it, or eat somewhere else.

My husband and I loved this restaurant, and I am now recommending to a friend. Although some of the reviews mentioned that it was "touristy," we felt just the opposite. It's a darling restaurant tucked away in the neighborhood. We're looking forward to dining there on our next visit!
