The BEST fish & chips I’ve had anywhere. The fish changes regularly, so you’ll find out what options are available when you get there. I had the cod and it melted in my mouth. You get to pick from a selection of dipping sauces or just go with the classics if you want. The mango salad was also extremely good and huge. It’s about average priced for the area but the portions are gigantic.

Quality of fish was fine. No better than a standard UK fish and chip shop. But portion size was a joke. I don't eat particularly big portions, but there was hardly any fish. The chips are actually pan fried potato. Fine in principle, but were pretty blackened on the outside and tasted of carbon more than potato. The tartar sauce tastes completely different to the UK, so be aware!

We both had the cod special with a chilli dip. I chose the mango salad with mine which was a little different and very tasty. I would describe the chips as being more like garlic and rosemary roasted potatoes.
This was the most expensive meal we had in Iceland, but it was worth it.
Undoubtedly the best fish and chips I've ever had!

Great food and decent portion. Got too oily as we ate. Pricing was decent for Iceland. Great sauce selections for the fish and chips. The place is popular and gets crowded for prime time. Parking was difficult as there isn't a parking lot specifically for the restaurant.

This is not your typical fish and chips. First choose from multiple different fish varieties next choose your side; french fries are of course an option but you can also get salad, onion rings, potatoes and more. Next choose your dipping sauce from multiple different options including lemon and dill, truffle, coriander and your classic malt vinegar or tartar sauce. The decor isn't fabulous but the food is good.

Ordering food here is really fast and easy, if you want fish and chips. Chips are baked potato and taste better than fried chip. Fish is not salty as in other places. Price for a simple meal is around 25 dollars.

Outstanding. Soup of the day: Mushroom, served in good sized bowl, with 3 slices of freshly made bread and a side of olive oil/garlic/basil spread. Fabulous.

Mango Side Salad: The freshest, tenderest spinach I've ever eaten with julienned mango, red pepper, roasted coconut flakes, green onion, and a delicious dressing that was in perfect balance. A delight to eat!

Fish of the day was three choices, I chose cod and a basil/garlic skyr dip.
Wonderfully fresh and tasty.

Had latte and Irish coffee for a total of 8000 krona or $80 US. So worth it!

Very good food. Quite inexpensive. Look forward to returning. On a side note they have a sister restaurant in NYC which was also excellent when we visited.

One minor criticism was the potatoes are seasoned already. Due to CKD I need to be cautious about my salt intake. However I didn't ask for them to make sure they were not seasoned so perhaps they could accommodate.

The flesh on the fish just falls apart a sure sign of freshness.

Not sure about the high reviews? I give them credit for the fish-- it was certainly fresh, but the sides were just bleh. Where were the chips? And they charge for ketchup? Dips? Meh.

Even if you forgive that, the ambiance was just gloomy and sad. Nothing remotely lively or happy about the place. The employees seemed to tolerate their customers, not invite them in. And the cost wasn't cheap-- on par with other restaurants.

Overall, there are SO many better places to eat. I'd recommend venturing elsewhere. 2.5

Don't come here in a hurry that's for sure. Portions are small and take forever. Many better options right across the street. Good location and lots of seating but service needs major overhaul.

I really like this restaurant. It is one of the cheaper places to eat in Reykjavik but with tasty fresh products. The fish is just delicious and the potatoes are also very tasty. Portions are a bit small however, but just enough. Also the dessert is very good so don't skip that. The restaurant itself has some nice industrial looks and has a comfy atmosphere. I can definitely recommend visiting.

Hi, cod and fish + cup of tea for two. Hmmm 😢 Fish good, but only two small pieces. “Chips”=burnt small roasted potatoes, my wife couldn't eat hers, I ate half of mine and 3 hours later I can still taste carbon. When collecting the plates the waiter asked how it was, we explained the problem. Apparently this it is the Icelandic way to cremate the potatoes, really? Not what we saw on the table next to us in the morning at a different restaurant. The waiter left us with a sarcastic remark about “only being 50% disappointed”, ouch. All for £50/$60 - ouch even more.

Lovely fresh lightly battered fish and potatoes (not chips). Reasonably priced for Iceland. Would definitely recommend. If you're expecting British fish and chips you'll be disappointed but this was better IMO. Look out for discount coupons in tourist books (from tourist offices), we got 15% off

Icelandic Fish & Chips was the first place I ever ate at on my very first trip to Iceland and it's a must on all of my other trips there over time. The food is incredibly fresh, organic, and very well made. The freshness comes through in the flavors of the food and the skyr sauces are delightful. You order a la carte and I highly recommend the cod, crispy potatoes, on a bed of salad with the lemon & dill skyr sauce. It's a home run every time and everyone who dines there with me orders it, too, and loves it!

Casual but nice atmosphere, attentive staff, and reasonable pricing.

This place was amazing! The best fish and chips I have ever had. All of the food was fantastic and the beer was great! All fish is fresh every day and caught that morning. Definitely recommend to anyone!

Good quality fish. Smaller portions. Cooked perfectly. It's a bit fancy for fish and chips, but hit the spot and wasn't expensive, by Reykjavik standards. I recommend. Just don't expect your typical British or Irish fish and chips.

Fish and chips? Neither close to it!
Chips are baked potatoes. Fish is 2 small pieces of some kind of fish I can fry better at home.
Not to speak about the price: I spent the same amount for an entire lobster just fished.
Don't go here! They rip you off!

Best and most affordable food we had in five days in Iceland. Fish and chips may have been the best I've ever had - crispy crust and moist, soft, flavorful cod inside. We also had the traditional Icelandic cod and potato casserole, which was also great and satisfying. We recommend this place highly.

View of the harbour, freshly caught fish, casual enough to be kid friendly (there's also a kid sized portion available). Regular portions are a little small, for my North American taste, but a side order of onion rings did the trick!

Tasty fish and roasted potatoes but please don't call yourself Fish and Chips if you don't have chips! The waiter seemed offended when I said that I ordered French fries and he informed me that their "crispy potatoes" are not French fries but pan roasted potatoes. Food was quite tasty however 150KR for ketchup and malt vinegar is another example of Iceland ripping off tourists

Confusing. We received food we had not ordered, but were told we would get a discount so it was no big deal. Then we received a side order after we finished eating and our table had been cleared, and pestered into taking it with us and we were asked to pay the full bill. After a long day out I didn't have the energy to be awkward about it.. but they should not tell or expect customers to take food items home that were not served with the meal.

The restaurant is nice but very busy. The fish was nice and fresh, ours came in quite heavy batter though. There are plenty of nicer cosier places to relax at in the evening after a day out, this was not a good customer experience!

Highly overrated. The staff is overwhelmed at peak times. We went at a slow time and our entire order was wrong after a 45min wait. There were no apologies. The food was not special. Go across the street for fish n chips to Reykjavik Fish in bright red building. It's a simple menu, helpful staff, cost effective and fish n chips are just about as good as Aussie flakehard to top that!

One of the best places for fresh and genuine Icelandic fish dishes in Reykjavik. Out of the way and a little hard to find but worth the walk. This appears to be where many of the University students come for fish and chips. Entertaining fish skin lamps add to the ambiance.

Was disappointed with this place. The service was slow and not very attentive. Took forever to seat us even though they weren't busy. Didn't even acknowledge to say it would be a minute. We ordered the fish and chips and fish salad. There was so much oil dripping off the fish. The salad was wilted below because of all the oil. The saving grace was the seafood stew we ordered off the kids menu.

Good fish. (Had husk and ling with wife)
2 big pieces of fish with a pretty tasty dipping sauce. Fried batter was good and crispy.

Only had gull beer in tap.

Good came out pretty slow.

Went in the prime time of the evening, but the hosts were very attentive and seated us within 5 minutes. The menu is short and sweet but the dishes are amazing! We had the cod and the ling specials and were blown away by the simplicity but the extreme deliciousness each one offered. Another plus is this place is definitely more affordable than others in Iceland, which makes this place one of the best I ate at while in town. Highly recommend!
