Big campsite but the kitchen is really small and only one can cook at the time.
The shower is tricky, you have to pay for every 5 minutes with timer. In addition, the host is really unfriendly, monitor us at the very first time we park, and didn’t answer much questions when we asked more details.

Beautiful place, all green with sheep grazing in the steep hill at the rear of the site. Part of the site can be quite wet. Service rooms clean but I assume it will be crowded in season.

Be sure to take the walk up to lake Systravatn. Follow the stream (west) to the path/steps by the waterfall. Then, if time, walk around the lake, or along the south side. Then down at the western part of the hill. Nice view of the plains to the south of Kirkjabæarklaustur.

We didn't realize that this campground was open in the winter. Due to bad weather we had to stop in Kirkjubæjarklaustur and were luckily enough to find this site for our camper van. It had a nice kitchen and dining room, clean bathrooms, free wifi, and showers were available at an additional cost. Wish we had more time to explore the walking trails and waterfalls around the village.

    Don't come here!
The kitchen is tiny and not suitable for more then 2 cookers at the same time. And the showers what an awful experience! You need to pay extra 300 for 5 minutes in the showers (seriously, there's a timer), and they're not even warm! (But of course you can only know that after you paid).
    Skip this place, not recommended.

Dreadful host. He came to the motor home right after I had payed at the reception asking for the ticket on the window. I had to look for it in my wallet saying I just had payed and talked to him about the laundry and he said he knew nothing, he only wanted the ticket on the window. No friendly at all. He put the washing powder himself on the softener space so he used less product, obviously not enough. I had to add shower gel. The laundry room was dirty and really a mess. Only one of the men' toilet was working and the dish washing space was really dirty too. You have to pay with coins for the shower too.

Great campsite with all you need for a reasonable price. Very calm place, kind and helpful staff. Clean showers for 300 isk, you can use washing machine too.

Nice and clean facilities. Only issue is that the shower was not quite hot, just lukewarm. No waiting for showers or sink for washing dishes, although can get busy during peak times. Check the aurora forecast during your stay, we got a great view of the display from our tent.

Great campsite with facilities like laundry. Quiet area, common dining area, tidy restrooms and showers.
    Good quality for the price.
Dryer was not so efficient. Long waiting time for laundry. One can get lucky.
Otherwise, all great. Would stay here again.

Canteen is too small. Very difficult to find a spot there in a rainy day.
Shower is not free and with a 5min time limit (no way to stop the water). Shower and laundry paying system is super inconvenient - only one type of coins is accepted. When we wanted to pay for the shower (exchange coins) there was nobody at the reception. One drying machine is also not enough for such a camping.

There are two tables outside (under the roof) which make it a good place to eat even if it is raining. Toilets and canteen are well maintained.
