The hotel has a wonderful location by the city center, close to the subway and tram stops and shops. This made it ideal for sight seeing about Hong Kong. It is well maintained and the staff is very helpful and friendly. However, the rooms are tiny with little room to move around or place luggage. The worst part of our stay was that it was FREEZING in our room! It was a cold weekend in Hong Kong and we called the front desk to inquire how to turn on the heat in our room only to learn that the hotel doesn't have any! When I then requested an extra blanket, I was told that they didn't have any left but they could send up some bathrobes. Needless to say, I had to bundle up with several layers of my clothes with a bathrobe on top to try to stay warm during our stay. My advice - don't stay here during the winter!
Had a bit of an issue checking in since I was staying with my brother for one night before I checked into my own room. I tried to tell about it and they didn't do anything until my brother came down with his booking, which was about an hour wait.
When I checked into my own room, they put me on a smoking floor, I didn't really mind too much but they didn't ask.
Rooms were clean and there was a decent view of the harbour from my room. Fairly large rooms since there was a living area with the TV and a table, which can fit a bed if required.
Getting here wasn't too bad. You just had to transfer from Hong Kong Central station to get to the Sai Ying Pun station. Once at Sai Ying Pun, there were signs to the exit closest to the hotel (B3). Location wise it wasn't too bad since it was close to the train and tram lines. They had luggage service so you can leave it there while you look around the city after you check out.
Mixed experience but the prices were quite good.
Price: cheaper as compared with other 4stars hotel within the area. A bit old as compared with other hotels though.
Room: spacious for a usual Hong Kong room area (I got the one with the sitting room). The bed is not that soft, but will not matter much if you're not planning of sleeping in.
Location: Accessible to all modes of transportation. A12 bus stop to and from the airport, is just across the street. A walk from the tram stop and train station. Near 711, fruit stand, noodle shops, local pharmacy, 24/7 self-service laundromat. Local and western restaurants within the area. You can also try the hotel restaurant on the ground floor for dimsum.
A classic hotel with a modern touch...our room was very clean with nice amenities...the concierge and front desk staff were very helpful in helping you get a cab by writing your destination on hotel stationery in both English and Mandarin...the stationery was good in getting back to the hotel... housekeeping was great in bringing us blankets and a heater as we were not used to being in hotels without central heating...old of the older Hong Kong hotels are this way...the buffet breakfast was a disappointment but there is lots of retaurants to choose from on the same block. Close to trams, trolleys and buses.
Good location. However, don't stay here in the winter. The building has NO heat! When I called the front desk, they offered to provide an extra bath robe!

One of the worst hotels I ever stayed at - dirty, very small rooms, uncleaned and sticky bathrooms, very poor room service...just do not recall anything good about it! No way it can be called a 4 Star hotel..
Only good part is that its location is close to subway and a convenience store nearby which is open midnight.
Good hotel in a good location. All liked it. I recommend!
I was given a good room with a rustling view from the windows. The hotel is old, but the content is good. The breakfasts are quite rustic. The room is cleaned well. 2 minutes walk to the metro.
The room is spacious but dated. Refurbishment is needed particularly in the bathroom. The lobby also need updating as it looks old and depressing. The reception staff are not particularly friendly and professional. You feel more like dealing with government officials than people specializing in customer service and hospitality.
Overall speaking, the hotel enjoys a good location. The only drawback is that the hotel has no loading and unloading area. Shuttle buses can only let you off on the road side a little bit away from the hotel.
Spacious room - much bigger than expected of hotel rooms in hk. Convenient. Airbus A12 from airport stops across the road (5th stop from airport - Water Street stop). Tram is also outside the hotel.
Clean, confortable, hot water, easy access to MTR and Hong Kong center. Very good quality/ price. We stayed 10 days and we had no issues.
Good location, right on public transportation. Very helpfull staff. Breakfast ok. Clean and well maintained room.
Rude and unhelpful are two words that best describe the front office staff. Perhaps it's their inability to properly communicate in English that makes them sound brusque and impatient but then one can't be in the hospitality business without attempting to work around such inablities. Otherwise a decent place to stay, close to transportation and on a street with dining options.
Clean room, clean linen, no smell, AC, good WiFi connection, lots of power outlets with adapters for travelers, quick elevators, excellent front desk and concierge service but I wish the staff would smile a bit more. Very spacious room per HK standards and spacious bathroom. Well located with MTR in proximity and lots of buses and tram right in front of the hotel. The only cons is the furniture which is a bit old / used and not modernized like some other HK hotels.
This is really nice place to stay. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The price is fare especially for Hong Kong island.
Pretty decent. Rooms are big, well equipped. Pro: good internet access. Con: beds are too hard.
The rooms are big and clean. Nothing too fancy. The staff needs to be a little more welcoming. A smile would be appreciated.
The reception you get on arrival is cold and unwelcoming. The room is fine and the views fantastic, but people smoke on what is supposed to be a no smoking floor. The food is just awful, which seems particularly inexcusable when Hong Kong is full of fantastic food and places to eat. The cleaning and wait staff are by far the most friendly. Good location but if you decide to stay here do not waste your money on the breakfast. And if doing business here, similarly, do not order food - same poor menu every day. The facilities listed include a gym. This is 5 pieces of very basic, home style equipment shoved into a hot small room next to the cafe. No changing facilities or shower. In the toilets however there is, weirdly, a whirlpool style bath. I hope they are not advertising this as a jacuzzi. There is a small dark bar displaying 3 bottles which is apparently open for a couple of hours a night (not witnessed). So facilities minimal - just enough to tick that box on the website.
Great prices and big rooms. Breakfast buffet is a good deal. Not the hippest area, but there's good mom and pop restaurants around.
Terrible experience.. Even though the room was big for HK standards it would be easier to sleep on a rock. What an awkward bed. I ended up sleeping over the floor, way softer. Staff also not so friendly.. I only recommend this hotel if you don't plan on sleeping during your trip.
Stayed here few years ago. Back again last week. Great location with plenty of cheap dinning options near hotel. Near to Airport bus stop & 9 mins walk to MTR. Team & bus stop at hotel entrance. Room is clean & spacious, double glazed window to reduce the traffic noise. Highly recommended.
My day one here. Will post more comprehensively in day 5.
Perfectly fine room and responsive staffs at work.
Don't rate the bed is too hard if you preferred the softer mattress?
Very large rooms for HK standards. Bed was extremely comfortable and clean. Hotel is very close to MTR stations and tram and bus stops, with the airport bus also located nearby. Only negatives were that my room smelt slightly of smoke (I had requested non smoking) and also requested a mountain view (room had a view straight into the hotel opposite). However I would recommend this hotel in general, had a good stay. Would also recommend eating at some of the places on Water Street next to the hotel - delicious!
Don't bother. Better, less dated hotels are nearby. You can do better.
The thing that ruined the hotel for me was not the hotel or staff, it was the other Mainland Chinese guests. First, they were shouting away in the lobby, and at night they were shouting away in the rooms way past midnight. I had to ask the hotel staff three times to ask them to shut the f up. Poor Hong Kongers...
The room was nice, and you could watch MTV too.
Good location, airport bus stop next to hotel main entrance. Metro station very close. Macau ferry at walking distance
Got upgraded from superior twin to suite! Large room with sofa. Location accessible by tram and bus.
+ location
- old, hard mattresses
- smelly room (former smoking rooms, carpets have obviously not been replaced)
- you hear even the quietest sounds from your neighbors
- the AC is not working at all (extremely cold in february)
- always black stains on allegedly replaced towels and bedsheets
- unfriendly, absent-minded staff at the reception (we were welcomed with only one single word: "passport!". but charging credit cards is never a problem. ;-) )
- in their free minutes the concierge and his colleague like to scrabble in the luggage entrusted to them and amuse about the content. but they kindly stop that immediatelly when being noticed. extremely unprofessional and untrustworthy!
