I have been coming to this Greek Restaurant for the past 25 years. Here is the scoop on this place; it is ALWAYS consistently great food! The portions are large, the greens are fresh and the meat is grilled to perfection. In my opinion, there is no other option for Greek Food IF you are in the Burnaby or New Westminster area.
If you take the time to look around the space; you will see so many interesting design garnishes likely from Europe and of course the Greek Islands. The best part though, is the lush fresh flowers and greenery throughout. Vines of grapes out front, really gives you the feel of stepping out somewhere nice for the evening.
The owner has been the same at least since we have been patrons, he can come across as grumpy and I have heard him get cross with the kitchen staff before. Consistency has its price I suppose. This said, he is an amazing host. He recognizes loyal patrons and will often offer up special deserts or even drinks on the house. Let's face it; how many restaurants still have their owners on hand working with the guests. I appreciate that and the personal service.
Over the years, I see less and less seats taken up. We don't want to lose this Burnaby Gem so if you have the craving for Greek, go check it out. You will not be disappointed!
Atmosphere was nice, lots of plants and cool decor, but it was so cold I had to keep my coat on. Food was overpriced for the quality. Not what I would call "authentic" Greek food. Chicken souvlaki was bland, rice was bland, pita bread was stale and cold, and they only gave us one piece to share between two of us. The potatoes were ok, but not the usual lemon Greek potatoes I expected. The Meatballs were flat, more like meat patties. They tasted ok, but nothing particularly "Greek" about them. Portions were good, they just need to season the food better. The Greek salad was very disappointing as well. A few tomatoes and cucumber chunks with a sprinkle of feta, I got no olives or onions or peppers and there was no dressing, just a light coating of oil.
Overall, not a good dining experience. I won't go back and would not recommend it to others.
Food was awesome, great service, nice atmosphere. A little on the expensive side for what I'm used to for Greek food.
This time was my third time. I am still very satisfied with their "Turkish/Greek/Persian" elaborate decoration and foods.
But the negative point goes for their early night closing time, specially on weekends, I somehow had hard time to convince my buddies to have our Friday/Saturday dinner there, because we should go to another place after their closing time, so we should pay more
Quaint restaurant with the traditional Greek decor. They even had fresh basil growing in pots in the window. The food was delicious, calamari cooked to perfection. Our waitress was amazing , friendly , personable. We live in the neighbourhood and this is definitely a go to place for us.
Even 1 star is one too many starsFood is over priced. Over cooked calamari, over cooked shrimp, burnt meat balls, salty potatoes, rude workers and apparently the owner doesn't like kids in the restraunt
pretty good food, nice staff. Portions decent. The building is amazing inside great atmosphere. A bit pricey for the quality.
Beautiful restaurant with an amazing atmosphere. It is very quiet and enjoyable and the wait staff is wonderful. The food is absolutely delicious and great quality. The portions are somewhat small for the price.
Been there for about 10 times since 2015, I'm responsible for the comments.
The food quality is unstable, sometimes good and sometimes bad.
Service is quite slow for all the time.
Waitress are friendly but not take their work seriously.
The restaurant owner seems don't care about the customer. Compared to welcome customers, he is more willing to chart with the waitress at front desk. While I was eating he made huge noise behind me by closing the door of the courtyard, and he doesn't care about.
You might have good experience at a time if you are first time go there, but personally I won't eat there again.
Food is terrible, I don't know how someone can cook such a greesy, salty and raw lam ripps. I realy had a bad experience even though decorations and food presentation looks nice.
Food Price is high too.
I strongly discourage any one who wants to try a greek food this is not a right place.
Worst experience in my whole entire life!
Don't be fooled by their website about best greek restsurant for whatever years. I should have asked them to prove it!
We were a group of 16 people ready to enjoy our reunion in this festive looking restaurant, but alas! Big mistake not reading the reviews!
The grumpy old owner was rude, no word of welcoming us (even though I made a reservation a week ago and confirmed on the day with more number of people), no respect for guests. He insisted, "repeatedly", each of us had to spend at least $20 saying he was doing business there. The waitress came and wanted to make sure that the owner would not give us any separate bills (which we were not even thinking) before we even start ordering We started with 4 platters which summed up to $270 and said we WERE GOING TO order more as more friends were to arrive later. The old man was so anxious to make sure each of us should spend at least $20 which he repeated a few more times. I said if that was so important to you why did you not tell me about it when I was making the reservation or write it on the website? He said he did not. (Funny enough, we were calculating how much money we were spending as we were eating the food!) He even said each of us came in a separate car occupying a lot of his parking lot.?????????? At that point I lost interest talking with this guy. Food was not specially impressive to make the guy that proud, but rather pricey and salty. Water was not filled promptly. Serving lady dropped a fork on my back and food stained my jacket, did not apologize. In the bill, they included mandatory 15% service charge. We gave this poor man all the money he wanted once and for all! Good bye.
To people out there : if you want to have a good time, avoid here!! I regret there is no option for zero star rating.
Delicious food, great atmosphere, very friendly staff.
Too bad -0- was not an option. My husband and I stood there for almost 15 minutes completely ignored. The owner standing at the counter, 2 servers passed us a few time yet no acknowledgement, I finally stopped one who had obviously seen us and asked who the hostess was. " go sit down over there and wait. There is a waitlist". How do we get on the waitlist? I asked. " go sit there, we'll come and talk to you when we have time" all this while rolling her eyes! Needless to say we walked out! Horrible reception! Rude hostess!
WORST SERVICE ever! I eat out a lot and have never in my entire life of 54 years had service like tonight. I asked for some napkins and the OLD man which I believe is the owner says to me "we don't provide napkins here and if u want then give me $10 and I can give u two pieces of napkin". I said "excuse me?!" And he says "oh nevermind, I will just add $10 to your bill and be right back with your napkins". I was so mad and told him to just forget it and I don't need the napkins anymore. He then says to me " it's too late, u will still have to pay for it becuz it's too late". In the end I tried to fight for my money back as I had not used the napkins. He threatens me and says "I am not giving u back your money, u ordered the napkins and if u don't pay then I will call the cops".
WORST RESTAURANT IN THIS WORLD! I paid the full bill since the $10 is so important to him and will never ever come back here!
