Excellent food on a floating dock just a short (wonderful) small walk-on littke ferry ride. Good is fantastic. Views are fantastic. Service is fantastic. Indoor seating as well as outdoor seating in nice weather. Great place and I definitely would recommend it, and the short ferry ride to get there.

An Island Experience! If you're visiting Vancouver Island Canada and in Nanaimo, it's a must to take the 10 minute Ferry across to Protection Island where the Pirates live. The Dinghy Dock Pub is a treat with dining for the entire family during the day and then turns into live entertainment in the evenings. Great food, good prices, and the wonderful people of this small community. I highly recommend this as I feature on Vancouver Island.

Nice Pub with a great View especially when the sun sets. Perfect for some shared snacks and beer with friends or for a date night. Staffs we're friendly and caring. Ferry only goes every hour, so there might be a longer line.

Honestly the atmosphere is charming and the food is decent (if a bit expensive for what they offer, but I realize I am paying for am experience). Service is absolute garbage. I'm writing this as I sit the way I have been for over 20 minutes now waiting for a beer refill. I'm not sure if they've forgotten about me or just don't care since I'm by myself. A bit dissapointing really. I guess I have to go to the bar and pour my own beer?

Amazing food, great service, overall fantastic experience. I had Prawn' O Scampi (If i'm correct on the dishes name) It was beyond terrific I would go back if I could every time I visit the West Coast. Places to take pictures & you can go for a walk before/after whichever meal you choose to eat. I also had 2 Lime margaritas & they tasted the same way I had when i was in Mexico! Take your family & friends - you won't regret it ever. Not only was it cool enough to have to take a boat to the island to get there, but I got to eat my meal on a floating pub! What are you waiting for?!

I came here with my grandma for dinner while I was visiting and had a great time. It definitely gets busy! The views are great out on the water and definitely make up for the business. You have to take the ferry boat over to it which is very fun and adds to the experience. Servers were good especially for the table turn overs and amount of people dining. Most of the food was great but the ribs were a bit dried out and the meat balls with marinara broke my heart since they looked so good on another table we ordered them and the sauce was super bland I was a bit disappointed in the food but over all it was a neat little place to go to and the restaurant itself is decorated nicely with a great view. I can't really say if I would go back. I'm glad I went but the food doesn't make me want to get back over there right this minute like some other places I've been.

This place is an absolute waste of time and money. Not worth it for the novelty, food or music.

There are SIGNIFICANTLY nicer places to eat on the water in Nanaimo, without having to take their poorly run and organized ferry, that only runs once an hour, causing massive lines to get a table. To add to the nonsense, their organization of ferry passengers is completely nonexistent; they reward people who push their way off the ferry and get to the hostess first. Older passengers and just simply polite people are left to wait a significantly longer amount of time for a table.

Food was without a doubt the worst food I have ever been served at a restaurant in BC. That is to say when it eventually came an hour after ordering.
They also completely forgot about an order at our table so one of us had to wait an hour and a half before being served poor quality food. The poor service was explained by the kitchen getting a rush of orders (another wonderful side effect of their once an hour ferry service).

Finally the music was. painful. The singers microphone was cranked up to 11 and his vocal abilities left a lot to be desired. The band itself had a decent sound and it could have been fun to listen to while eating, had my ears not been bleeding.

Great location on the water. Only floating pub in licenced in BC or further. A little pricey but that comes with location as it is also an adventure to have lunch on the water with great views of marine life and boating. Food isn't as good as it used to be except the French fries, best in town! Also not as much moorage for boating traffic to come in for a meal. Special section for families with a kids fishing hole. The kids, big and little, love this. You can also spend a day exploring the island and accessing one of the many public parks and beaches or walk the island in about 44 minutes.

Definitely recommend this if you haven't been or as a tourist activity!

This place is NOT what it use to be. Years ago the original owners had an incredible atmosphere at his place. The service was second to none, and their menu was huge. They use to have a BBQ on the deck as well, which had the tastiest food. We always LOVED all of the bills of various denominations showing currencies from all over the world, taped or pinned to the walls.

Today the current owners took all of that away. The food is now terribly expensive, and the cost to get over there atrocious. Save your money and go out for a nice meal in the city. This place just does not have it any more.

The fish tacos are good, but the service is less than stellar. Don't forget that the ferry won't wait for your drunk ass! A great place for drinks during the summer so be sure to make a reservation or you will be drinking alone on the beach. Don't ask how I know that.

What's not to love about this place? It feels like you're in Hawaii on warm summer evenings. The little ferry from Nanaimo is a fun part of the trip. Kids love fishing for bullhead during dinner right through the hole in the restaurant/dock floor. The food is pretty good and the staff is great. It's the one place we always take visitors from out of town to during the summer - a real experience. Also have some great local musical talent from time to time. A+++
