The air conditioning unit is very old and wasn't on when we checked in, the room was hot and stayed that way even with the air con on the 2 days we stayed. The walls are very thin if you know what I mean. The front desk was very nice and helpful.

Clean, nice lobby (had Halloween decorations/candy, very festive). Located in the middle of downtown, very good if you're there for business. Bathroom lights were a little old (flickered and took a moment to actually light up).

Updated: Significant signs of improvement in restaurant and elsewhere, elevators quirky but much better, even fast. Room improvements in evidence.
Previous: The rooms vary widely in quality; some are brand new, others well used. Climate control varies as well, from good to poor. Elevators often take 3-4 minutes to arrive. Pool's nice. Rooms next to elevator are noisy, and if you're on the 7th Ave side, higher floors are better, it's really noisy.response / report this review -

Stayed here during Stampede weekend. The rooms are a bit dated, but our room was very clean and our experience with the staff was very pleasant. The bar next to the lobby was a nice place to meet up and have drinks.

Met a friend for drinks at the moxies attached was a nice location. Staff was attentive. Drinks were a little over priced but overall a good experience.

Stayed here with our soccer team. Location is the only good thing about this place. The bathroom fans did't work in any of the three rooms that we had. We would put the AC on at night and when we woke up, it would be blowing warm air. When we want to the pool, the jets for the hot tub didn't work as well. Also don't get me started on the Moxie's in the hotel.

Stay there often. Always a great place to stay. Nice rooms, downtown location and decent price. Moxies currently undergoing renovations so all they offered was a buffet.

Got three stars because of the staff. They were nothing but helpful in less than ideal circumstances. The hotel is run down to say the least. There are holes in the bathroom, cracks in the walls, you have to wait an unbelievable amount of time for one of the four elevators to decide to show up(if it ever does)..
Location seems ideal from first sight being right next to the light rail but the overwhelming homeless population tends to detract from that. As it turns out, short of the hotel bar, the area itself leaves much to be desired.response / report this review -

The hotel itself is ok. I didn't really find anything wrong with it. The rooms are decent. The location is the only reason I like staying there. My company pays for my stay there so I don't really have a choice lol. Right next to the light rail so it's easy to get around and the mall is only a 10 min walk.

Checked in with very friendly staff and was very happy with the room and the cleanliness. Had a great sleep in a comfy bed and dark, quiet room. Hotel is in a great location to explore and we walked to 17 ave for supper and stopped in at a gourmet donut shop for dessert! There was lots of room for my car in the underground parkade and elevators are easily accessible. The pool and fitness centre were nice and quiet when we visited. Would definitely recommend and stay again. Thanks, Sandman!

Room not a bad size but the bathroom is very small, overlooking the tramline that goes on til bout 1am then get woken up with work to the hotel that they have forgotten to tell us is happening. Yes the hotel does need updating as rooms are not that great but we never got told when booking back in December or when we checked in to hotel that work was happening. Stayed in cheaper places and had better rooms without the noise and better views but bed is comfy

Rooms are showing their age but the hotel is going through refurbishment as we stay because the noise you can't miss. The restaurant and bar serve good food with great prices on alcohol. Hopefully when the refurbishment is complete and the rooms are brought up to date this will be a nicer place to stay.
