Good vibes in the bar but as its a backpackers hostel but the assigned seating is a bit much. Better if people could move around . Food is good and reasonably priced .

Great friendly place. We had our own room. Basic but everything you need. We didn't find it noisy or rowdy like other hostels. Central location downtown great value for money and a good night sleep

Fantastic staff, excellent facilities (nicer showers than I've had in most hotels), couldn't ask for a better location in Vancouver, great group activities. Prices are very fair and the Beaver is a great gathering spit to meet people. Wish their free breakfast was a bit more substantial and there was a way to pay for laundry/dryer by credit or debit card, but neither of these are enough to warrant a loss of a star in comparison to everything else.

Really good place to meet heaps of people. Super friendly staff. Rooms and facilities could be cleaned better. Where I store my luggage was super dusty which caused me to sneeze lots

Best hostel in town! The staff is very friendly, everything is clean, there are some great activities and the WiFi is fast and free. The best thing is the bar. It's very cheap, there's some very okay food and it's always packed with cool people (travelers and locals). I will always choose the Samesun over any other hostel in Vancouver (or any other place).

Great location downtown. Reasonable rates. However due to location it can be loud outside at night especially on weekends. Often the quiet at night ISN'T enforced and can sometime even be off shift staff getting rowdy.

I stayed at this hostel for five nights and didn't have any major issues. The all-girl four room was clean and the various girls that stayed were cool. The hostel was cleaned daily and I saw how hard the staff worked to get everything tidy. Breakfast was sufficient with bagels, toast, fruit, hard-boiled eggs, juice and coffee. The bathrooms and showers were newly renovated - there was only one day that I was inconvenienced when all of them on the second floor were shut down; the bar downstairs offered a free drink the next day to make up for it.
The hostel is on Granville street which shuts down on weekends and becomes a big party. It may have been worse than normal since I was in town for Canada Day 150; but I was towards the back of the hostel and didn't notice the noise too much.

The personnel at the hostel was very friendly and helpful and always there to answer questions! The mood in the hostel bar was great and there are fun outdoor activities every day that can be joined for very little money! Perfect place to get to know people if you are traveling alone.
Also the hostel is very central and perfect for going out at night. The rooms and kitchen are standard quallity and all important things are available.

Most people kept to themselves here. The staff are very friendly and the breakfast is perfect! Great way to start your day. We never made it for happy hour, but love it how it's available. The facilities are kept well and the Lockers are large enough for padlocks. Late at night the area may get a bit sketchy, but it's not of big concern. Great location and great price!

Played music bingo at the Beaver Bar inside, it was great fun. The presenter got the crowd involved everyone was loving it. The Beaver Brew was good value. We didn't order food so I'm not sure what it's like, but the bar was quite busy, there was a wait list to get in!

There are a lot of good things about this hostel. Most of all, the staff at the front desk are fantastic. Always so helpful and had great local knowledge and willing to help out with any query I had and I had many.. The ice breakers in the bar and the organised tours are great to take in the sights of Vancouver. But I could not get over the smell of stale urine and stale weed (which was a sickening mix) through the whole hostel from the moment I walked in the door even in the kitchen and common area. This being why I only rated it 3 stars.

Big hostel in the heart of Vancouver! Everyone is very friendly and accommodations are pretty average, but comfortable. Renovations are being done on the bathrooms so it kind of has a bit of a sewage smell, but completely understandable. There are so many activities and things to do if you stay here!

This hostel is in a great location but otherwise it is overpriced and noisy. We paid 200 CAD for 1 night in a double room. This is a hostel that was advertised as a hotel. We got a tiny old room, in the last floor, no elevator. We had to go downstairs to ask for towels and an additional blanket because the room had no heating. But all of that wouldn't be a big deal if it wasn't for the noise. This was absolutely the worst part. Our room was next to the public toilets/showers and we heard people's conversations as if they were talking in our ears. People just hung there and talked every once in a while and this drove us crazy the entire night. Breakfast was I guess probably OK for a hostel but for me it was quite poor (a few bad tasting fruit, oatmeal, bread with cream cheese, and dry pastries). I didn't find almost anything to eat.

Fantastic hostel. Stayed in the 4 bed dorm. Was comfy and good security. No issues with using the showers or bathrooms. The staff were helpful and the breakfast was amazing. I don't understand comments on here that breakfast was bare bones or sparse. It was superior in choice and quality than most hotels I've stayed in around the world who charge money for much less selection and poor quality, so not sure where they are coming from. The beaver bar is awesome to hang out and chat with people from all over the world. Common room was great also and the kitchen has everything you need. I will stay here again.
