The location is really nice! Just a few things that I need to report. 1) We found some hair at the bathroom. 2) The reception staff were not really friendly and talkative. 3) We stayed there for 3 nights, but we didn't get the fresh towers at last night. 4) There is no any extra hater for us, it was a bit cold at the room. Overall, the location is awesome, you can get the food near the hotel easily.
Room was very clean, decent amount of space and toiletries; even had utensils and a speakrr system. Reception was easy to work with and very accommodating.
Housekeeping went through my things! I arranged plastic bags in the top shelf of the wardrobe to store my things, one of the bags contained the hotel's coffee I wanted to bring home with me. On my last night, I found the bag and all my coffee stash laid out on the kitchen counter.
I talked to Carlos and Hana (front desk) about how I felt bad that housekeeping went through my things and that I was offended. They were super nice about it. They understood that people would feel violated this way. But Hana, with good intentions, asked the manager to speak with me.
Jennifer the manager said she would stand by her housekeeping staff, she knew them and trusted them. She said they were always afraid to touch things and would ask her to come if they see something they were unsure of. But the worst part was she made me feel stupid. She said it was ridiculous to read more into this, she had no problem with me taking home the coffee and no one was trying to be mean and I was overreacting. Then, I am leaving now Madam.
She didn't even try to pretend to apologize for what happened and then just laugh at me behind my back. She firmly defended her housekeeping. That's what she said, I have to defend them, I trust them.
It's not about the coffee. It's about strangers going through your personal things. I think I could even have called the police for this type of violation. People tell me Canadians are very respectful and considerate about privacy and boundaries and take these issues seriously.
Jennifer said the housekeeper said the coffee was very obvious. It was not. Unless the lady was very tall or used a step ladder and had X-ray vision, she couldn't see my things. She would have had to be looking through my things on the top shelf to see it.
I thought one of the best traits of Jennifer's staff was trustworthiness? Why deny what really happened? I also thought they were afraid to touch other people's things? So why take the whole package out of the closet and lay everything out on the kitchen counter?
It's not about the coffee. It's about having the right to privacy! About feeling secure in your hotel room!
Attended a meeting in one of the conference rooms. I've stayed here before and it's lovely. Great rooms and great food in the restaurant.
Our room was called a suite, but it was smaller than an average hotel room. Avoid the room on the first floor as it also overlooks a shady parking lot. There are blinds, but they don't give you 100% privacy here due to being so close/overlooking the parking lot.
Yes - it has a tiny sink and small burner for cooking, but when I say tiny, it was very tiny.
Hotel was worn down and old looking.
Value was OK for what we paid however just expecting a bigger room.
The location is perfect: not too close to the downtown noise but not to far from downtown. The front desk staff is helpful and courteous. Make sure your phone is plugged in and working, so you are not going around and under trying to reconnect it in the middle of the night to a USB port that doesn't exist. Yes, in 2017 this place somehow manages to still have appliances from 1980 The alarm clocks old and impossible to use or configure and the appliances in the rooms could use an upgrade. There is parking but if you manage to get one spot, I suggest leave your car there because if you move, chances are you will lose a spot you already paid for. Again, good value for the location but don't expect anything fancy
Room was decent, view on the other hand, not so much. Being right on Robson street was a great location though! We will most likely stay here next time we visit!
It was a great hotel for the price. Despite the small lobby and entrance holding back expectations, the rooms were wonderful. It is also located in a prime location.
Very nice place. Clean rooms. Polite people. Smiles are free. Safe environment , smoke free. Very helpful.
I was booking directly through their website for 7/30 - 8/2, 3mths in advance. Somehow during checkout, the dates changed to *today's date, for 1 night. I called immediately after & was polite & explained & asked for the reservation to be cancelled or move forward the dates, & desk staff said they would not cancel or change the dates, & that they would be charging me. I told them I would write a negative review & would be booking there in the future & they said that would be fine. Totally ruthless & rude.
Good base and good accommodation value for downtown Vancouver. All the room well basics covered for an apartment but limited cooking facilities. Great views. Good Wifi.
My friends stayed at the Riviera hotel and I joined them for an evening in their room. The rooms are very spacious and nice and the balcony proved to be the perfect location for a thrilling power hour. The staff was also very friendly.
Not a bad hotel, just not exactly what I was expecting. The rooms were big. The hotel was dated and needed some maintenance. The room was a bit on the cold side. Would have rated it higher if the hotel description and images were a bit more representative.
Hotel was not terribly modern, but clean and roomy enough. We let them know when we were leaving that one of the decorative chairs in our room had been broken upon arrival. A day after returning home we were informed that upon their "investigation", they determined we broke it and charged us $500. They say the chair was brand new, but won't provide a receipt showing they had just bought it or how much they paid for it. We said if the chair was brand new as they claimed, then it was clearly defective and could be returned. There is no way the chair was even worth $500 the way the leather on both chairs was not even attached to the frame properly but they insist. We left our room neat and clean - garbage all in receptacles, towels hung up, beds made. We did NOT break this chair and they refuse to even offer a compromise. I've told them if I have to pay for it, I will come and pick it up but they haven't accepted that offer yet, either. The front desk lady says I should have reported it right away, but I told her it didn't affect our stay, so I didn't think anything of it. She said people call right away when a remote is broken, which I told her makes sense since they need the remote to use the TV! No reasoning with her AT ALL and no call yet from Mr. Jamie Lewis who I am told is the manager. What a way to end an otherwise nice trip.
