Excellent budget hotel. Shared shower down the hall was worth the money saved for my purposes.

Went to our room, saw it, got a refund and left right away.
This should not be listed as a hotel. This is a hostle. They tried to charge 400+ for a two night stay in a room that was very low end. The photos do not reflect what it is actually like. My travel buddy called this murder hotel because it was that bad.
FYI: shared bathroom does not usually mean 1 bathroom for the entire 2 floor hotel.
Parking in the alley should also say you need to walk a good block, past bars with all your things to get to the front of the hotel.
The descriptions although not lieing are also not entirely completely forthcoming with the actual hotel.
The two stars are due to the lady at the desk who helped us.response / report this review -

Good location in downtown Vancouver, resonable price. Near the underground station. However difficult to find a taxi. 20 min walk to casino, EXPO 1986 site and Chinatown.

Terrible
1. Complete overpriced (the nearby Holiday Inn offered about the same price for better rooms/ services.
2. Clerk refused to exchange/ accept US dollars when they have the exchange chart right next to them.
3. The rooms have no bathroom and everyone must share the 2 bathrooms in which you have to walk down the corridor to use. Gross!
Overall I would not even recommend this location to anyone. If they're looking for a good deal, I would reccomend the Holiday Inn that is 2 blocks from here.response / report this review -

Good location, friendly staff. The windows aren't very sound proof. I could hear everything going on in the street all night long. Other than that it was a great hotel.

For the price I would have expected a bit more. See through sheets with stains. I didn't mind having to share a bathroom with 15 other rooms on the floor but the shower had no pressure. No plugs for the sink in the bedroom. Everything was just a bit out dated. Staff are friendly and helpful though.

I am very understanding as to what it means to stay at a budget hotel however I do have some expectations. I do expect hot water. There was no hot water on my floor when I got up in the morning. When I mentioned this to the clerk at the desk his response was cold and uncompasstionate. He didn't offer even an apology. This was the hotel that I recommended to all my friends as a good budget hotel however this experience has made me think again before recommending this hotel.

If I could give this place a negative star I would. I just want to make it very clear this is not a hotel it's a hostel.
I purchased my stay here over Expedia, and while it does say shared bathroom it's something on the website that can be missed very easily.
I've stayed in some very crappy hotels but never have I stayed in a hotel where there is 20+ rooms and 2 showers to share among every guest.
I was in room 212 and as I walk in I could not seem to turn On the lights. There is a remote with over 10 buttons to manuver to turn the damn lights on.
There laid 2 twin mattresses that had massive dents in them as if they have not been changed in decades.
I would have rather spelt on the floor.
Not to mention the entire hotel smells like grandmas old quilts stuck in a dusty attic for hundreds of years.
With seeing this I was very displeased. I wouldn't mind adding another $20 and going to the Howard Johnson next door where I can shower in my own bathroom and sleep in a bed that didn't have a gaping space between my back and the matress.
I went down stairs to the reception and first kindly asked if there was a room that had a washroom in it.
1. I didn't pack shampoo or soaps since hotels usually come with them.
2. No flip flops to wear inside the gross showers
She responded with a no.
I kindly asked her since I just checked in can I please get a refund of my $90 and leave. I was there for an event and I didn't want to have to run back and fourth to the other end of the hall to do my hair and my make up.
She responded with a "no" I can give you the damage deposit back but no I cannot refund your stay.
I was a bit ticked, as I was also charged a fee of $3 to use my visa as a method of paymentI've never heard of a "hotel" charging fees to use my credit card as usually real hotels have mandatory credit card holds.
At this point I knew I was not getting through to the reception so I asked if I could speak to her manager. She passed me to a man named Denise.
I told Denise as a customer I'm really unhappy with sleeping here and today was a very important night and I would like to get ready in a more appropriate setting.
He responded with "well I don't really care what you thought l, it clearly says on the website shared bathrooms when you get your confirmation and you are more than welcome to leave but you will not be getting a refund" (no exaggeration)
I was mind blown.
I used to work at McDonalds during my teen years and if anyone heard me say that to a customer about their $2 cheeseburger I would be fired on the spot.
I gave the phone back to the reception and didn't say a word.
It was 7pm when we received a noise complaint by our neighbour. Another neighbour came out and started yelling at the man justifying we were being very quite and very abbusive language was exchanged by this gentleman in room 214.
When i came back to my room around 2am I was told to knock on the front door and wave my keys at them to be let inI am sorry ?
No hostel or hotel I have ever stayed in has ever made me stand outside and knock and be asked questions before coming in.
When I checked out this morning the girl made me sit in the lobby while she radded our room to make sure there was no damages.
I've also never had to sit in a lobby where someone looked through my room to make sure we didn't man handle the place.
The worst place I have ever stayed in my entire life. And I just got back from backpacking Thailand and Malaysia.
For the sake of your own sanity and your money's worth do not stay here. Do not.response / report this review -

Great location, close to many dining options. Wi-Fi was consistent, strong, and easy to access. My room was quiet and I felt safe. Overall, it was a great value for my two-night stay in Vancouver. However, the building is run-down and sorely in need of updates. Cleanliness seemed okay overall, but the one shared bathroom on the floor had a dark, musty smell. I can't say I'd choose to say here again, but if you're looking for someplace cheap to stay near the city center and you have a sense of humor and a strong constitution, you might consider it.

I'm still not sure how this place can officially be called a "hotel". It is an old building made into a hostel. The stay here is quite terrible. There is no air-conditioning, the entire building smelled like whatever food the front desk person had made in the back room, and the walls are paper-thin. I was put in room 213, and there was a bus stop located just outside of my window. I could literally hear the conversations between people getting on and off the bus the entire time I tried to sleep. The roar of traffic is enough in itself to keep you up. This place desperately needs to be torn down and rebuilt.

I was skeptical about booking this place because the price seemed almost too low for how centrally the hotel is located. At any rate, the hotel is in an exceptional part of town. We did most of our travel by walking, but were also able to easily park, and drive to the places that were a little bit further away. The place is clean, centrally located, has friendly staff, and felt safe. I would happily stay here again, despite not having a bathroom in our hotel room.
