I went to to the library at the Lakewood Civil Centre. Pretty good library and nice to study in.
Very good parking space as well. Recommended.
Library is a quiet place where you can get your work done. Although the book placement does not always make sense.
Great facility with pool, hot tub, sauna. Also meeting rooms, a full gymnasium with basketball court, and a library!
Great family facility. Staff could sometimes make more of an effort to interact in a friendly manner.
Great programs most of the time but during the summer and school holidays, regular programs are altered to accommodate kids out of school. Unfortunately, this interferes with my fitness routine and the routine of many.
OMG MY BRAIN IS EXPLODING AGH THIS POOL IS JUST THE BEST ITS LIKE IF GHANDI AND NELSON MANDELA HAD A CHILD AND IT WAS A POOL. THE WATER IS CLEAN, THE STAFF ARE HELPFUL, AND THE WATERSLIDE IS THE PERFECT MIX OF FUN AND SCARY. ATTACHED IS A HOME MADE MEME TO DESCRIBE MY FEELINGS TOWARD THE FACILITY
(MEME MAY OR MAY NOT BE INCLUDED). IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A RIP ROARING FAMILY ADVENTURE, GO TO LAKEWOOD. AS YOU VENTURE THROUGH THE CHANGEROOMS CONVENIENTLY SET TO 50 DEGREES CELSIUS SO YOU DONT GET HYPOTHERMIA, YOU SHALL ENCOUNTER MANY INTERESTING PEOPLE. SOMETIMES, THE SHOWERS HAVE FANCY PINK SOAP. DID YOU HEAR THAT? PINK FREAKIN' SOAP! YOU BET YOUR BOTTOM DOLLAR YOU'RE NOT GONNA FIND PINK SOAP AT ANY OTHER FACILITY IN SASKATOON. THE POOL ENTRANCE? FABULOUS, IT'S LIKE BEING AT GOD'S HEAVEN BEACH. THEY HAVE A MUSHROOM WHICH FEELS LIKE BATHING UNDER A MYSTICAL WATERFALL WITH BEAUTIFUL WATER NAIADS. THE CONCESSION? OH MY GOSH THE FRIES ARE MAKING ME DROOL AND MY STOMACH DO BACKFLIPS IN EXCITEMENT. THE CHIPS ARE AMAZING, ALWAYS STOCKED AND READY TO INHALE. YOU SHOULD SEE THE AWESOME LIBRARY THEY'VE GOT, JEEZ, THE STAFF LOVE KIDS. LOVE 'EM! ALWAYS HELPFUL AND THEY'VE GOT COMPUTERS, YES COMPUTERS, AND SHREDDERS, AND PRINTERS. ALL YOU'RE GOVERNMENT AVOIDING EQUIPMENT AT YOUR FINGERTIPS. IN CONCLUSION, YOU MIGHT AS WELL JUST SELL YOUR HOME TO BUY UNLIMITED PASSES TO THIS HELLA AMAZING CIVIC CENTRE.
I have been visiting Saskatoon public pools for four years with my kids, sometimes two or three times a week all year, spending many hundreds of dollars there every year. Previously to that I have been using them for three decades myself.
Lakewood Civic Centre - just as it is at Shaw and Lawson, is extremely overcrowded on weekends. It would make you laugh if it didn't make you cry.
Lakewood and Lawson are the worst for this.
Change rooms grossly over capacity, no space on any benches to put on your own swim gear let alone your kids.
At Lakewood there's not even enough space to place your shoes on the racks with customers and taxpayers forced to store them in the hallways. Four Family change rooms for hundred or so families is just laughable.
The showers at these pools are always cold or slightly warmer than cold, no wonder NO ONE showers before entering the water, disgusting !
Pubic hair anyone ? Yes it's every where, on the changroom floors and in the shower stalls of which there are severely short supply.
Picture this hundreds of swimmers with only a handful of urinals and toilets, that's right at Lakewood that's all you get, a soaking wet, slippery peed-on toilet with pee on the floor all around it. Don't believe me ? I have plenty of pictures.
Likely to save money, Lakewood pool seems to strive to operate their waterslide as little as possible, so be aware that the ONLY time the waterslide is open is during "Public Swimming", never during Parent/Tot or "family swim" or any other time, because of course parents, tots and families hate water sliding right ?! This is just plain stupid and one reason Lakewood is not worth going to most of the time. The slide should be running nonstop !!! Who the hell wants to go to the waterslide pool and not use the waterslide ??? Answer is that no one does and that's precisely why this pool can't break even.
Next is the ludicrous rules they have at this pool. "No one under six y/o on the slide". Why is it that my 4 year old can ride a dirt bike, quad, snow machine , electric scooter, go down a playground slide, or even the waterslide at the Shaw Center but not Lakewood. Not even with life jacket, not even with his dad waiting at the bottom of the slide to catch him which he has absolutely no need for me to do anyway be cause he's been doing it by himself for two years already ? It's just plain ridiculous. But don't do it or the Lifeguards will harass you like you are some kind of imbecile.
By Lakewoods logic a child shall not learn to safely waterslide until they are six years old ! Who in the hell is going to wait that long to let there kids learn something so easy as water sliding ? More isanity !
If there's more than two people in the line, wait times at the front desk at Lakewood, Shaw and Lawson are too slow. If people in the line want to renew a membership you will be waiting 10 mins per person. That kind of service stinks.
All I can say is that C of S needs to do better, more and better.
Visit some of the community centres in Alberta, Sherwood Park for example if you want to learn how a swimming pool should be run. They operate for one reason only. to provide the customer what they want.
In Saskatoon you get what Lakewood wants which is to say not very much.
My kid likes playing here visiting from winnipeg.
Great place. Library, gym and pool.
I had lost a pair of expensive earrings yesterday and they put them in a special envelope to ensure nobody stole them. Very friendly and approachable when asked about it.
Nice swimming pool and very warm changing room
