  It's close and I will go to Co-op as my main hardware store for that reason, but I wish it had a lot more selection. The new store seems big enough so I was underwhelmed with the selection which is pretty limited compared to the other options. Staff range from nearly useless to very helpful and knowledgeable depending on who you happen to get.

  Nothing but praise for this Co-op Home Centre location. I am crossing my fingers hard that the same quality, knowledgable service is retained when they move to their spiff new location down the street.
  
  It's hardly perfect, but where is? Certainly not those ludicrous big box places where the few staff that aren't hiding turn out to be high school kids who only work two days a week whose expertise is reading the company's website...which I already did, thank you. I want some insight and help.

  I was in to purchase some potting soil and I was quite shocked by the poor customer service. My purchase was rung in and the price was different from the posted price. I pointed it out and the cashier said that those signs are all screwed up. I asked if he could adjust it to the posted price and he refused and wouldn't call a manager. I suggested for him to let his manager know about the error in the signage as this is how loyal customers such as myself start to shop elsewhere. I purchased the product at regular price as I didn't want to have to wait in line or hold up other customers. Instead I am out front of the store writing a review.

  I went to Co-op to buy paver stones for our patio. I originally got a quote from the north store, and they told me I could order it at the 8th Street location later on. So instead of driving across the city, I drove to 8th Street to put in my order. Because it was a weekend, I guess I couldn't actually put my order through (which I wasn't told but that's understandable). But what made my experience so horrible was that the guy at the back desk treated me like a liar because the prices seemed too low. He was rude and seemed to intentionally do everything at a snail's pace. He actually told me I had to go back to the north store! Upon going to the other store, I discovered that the guy from the north store originally gave me the wrong price. However, they were quick to find a solution and were friendly and understanding. Needless to say, I'm never going to the 8th Street location again.

  The store doesn't have the same selection as a Home Depot or Lowe's but the staff are all experienced tradespeople. If you want knowledgeable help and no nonsense--look no further.
