This location has some employees that have little knowledge on products. They are unable to take responsibility for their own fault. Not helpful, more stressful. Also had me on hold for FOREVER around opening time 10:30 am. Come on.
I would like to thank Bryce for providing excellent customer service on Saturday November 18th, 2017 and the rest of the Henry's Staff for getting my order in so quickly and efficiently. I look forward to shooting on my new Canon lens and coming back to Henry's for more accessories.
Cheers,
M
Many years ago, I was shopping for a new digital point & shoot camera. I chose one, (that was heavily advertised)- then looked for a retail outlet that had this camera in stock). Henry's had them- so I went there to get one.
The salesman- got the camera, (that I was interested in)- off the shelf and placed it on the counter. Then he said:
"This camera has 'issues'- and warranty work on these is farmed out. " He then took another camera off the shelf- and handed it to me:
"THIS camera, does not have those problems. It has more features- and it costs less money!"
I bought that camera, (that he recommended)- and used it for years, without any problems. (In fact- I would be still using it- if it had not been stolen when my home was broken into!)
You can buy photographic equipment from anyplace, these days- but you will NOT get that kind of service- from those other places!
It is a rare pleasure to do business with people like this- and I have been dealing with this company ever since.
Henry's has hundreds of cameras to choose from- and the people working there are all enthusiasts. They really know their stuff!
THESE GUYS ARE MONEY HUNGRY AND DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS AT ALL. DO NOT GET SWINDLED. THERE ARE MANY BETTER PLACES TO BUY THE SAME PRODUCTS!
This place shipped my order to the wrong post office, it took me two weeks to be able to retrieve it, when for the distance travelled I might as well have picked it up directly at the store and not paid shipping. Then they told me I was past the return and exchange period even though the item I purchased DID NOT fit my tripod. Absolutely no help or sympathy from the customer service staff. They were very happy to let me stay with this now useless $150 product with no attempt at all to help me. Only 2 days past the return period, for a post mistake. Even paid extra for shipping. DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! GO TO DOWNTOWN CAMERA IT IS LITERALLY NEXT DOOR AND HAVE NEVER HAD ANY TROUBLE WITH THEM.
Nice spacious shop. I found even during a busy time the staff to be attentive. Not sure what some reviewers are moaning about, perhaps the kind of folks who spend an hour in shops just learning things. The collection of things like bags or tripods is super here, and it's a pleasure to even just browse for the merchandising. The other shop in the vicinity that gets high ratings is also good but crammed in space
I don't often leave reviews, good or bad, but I had to. I had a frustrating experience with someone at Henry's who misled me as to why my transaction was canceled and sent me on a wild goose chase with my bank.
I placed an order for a high-value item with a shipping address in a different province. I understand that this may raise flags. More than 48 hours after placing the order I call Henry's and the person had me recite all my credit card details twice then told me that it doesn't match what's on file with my bank, so he has no choice but to cancel the order. He recommended that I call my bank to sort it out.
So I call my bank and they verify that everything is correct, that the transaction went through and was then cancelled. I place an order again on the website and follow up with a call. I speak with a different person and he says that the reason my orders are being cancelled is because it's too risky for them to deliver an item to a province other than the billing address.
I understand and appreciate this, but the first guy clearly lied to me and made me waste my time. I don't know why he thinks that misleading customers like this will make us want to do business with them, especially when Vistek is right down the street.
I had a fantastic experience at Henry's. I really couldn't have asked for better customer service. I was looking for a superzoom and initially purchased a Nikon P900 from Amazon (shipped by Amazon, sold by an apparent Nikon dealer), but the camera packaging appeared to have been previously opened and the battery didn't charge right, so I returned it to Amazon. I was surprised to discover that Henry's cost was actually a bit cheaper than Amazon's when I called the store to inquire. The sales associate Bob was exceedingly helpful in answering all my questions clearly, directly and honestly, and he was immensely helpful when I needed to switch one of the package items. Their no-nonsense return policy is a huge reassurance. I had a similarly positive experience with my last camera purchase at this place. I will return without hesitation for future purchases and highly recommend them!
I recently had the shutter in my Nikon DSLR fail. Fortunately the extended warranty I purchased along with the camera from Henry's was in play, and Winnie in the service department was able to get me sorted with a repair. Moving on, the excellent selection of new and used Nikon bodies made choosing a new camera to replace my previous model a 'snap'. Tom from sales went through my options and was very knowledgeable in terms of the features offered by different bodies. Buy with confidence from Henry's as they offer great sales and service support, plus a full range of lenses and accessories.
Upon arrival (mid-week, late afternoon), I was not approached by staff, of which there were several (the upside), nor welcomed. However, once I sought out help at the rear of the store (audiovisual section), I was well taken care of by staff, Sean, in particular, and his nearby colleagues. Not a question I asked was too simple nor silly, and above all I learned how this stuff works. This was not a mere shop exchange but a learning session. Love when learning happens -- and at no cost. Will not hesitate to return to buy the audiovisual equipment I will need to start filming. In fact, Henry's on Church is where I intend to go. Customer service -- it makes all the difference. And -- we often forget -- that positive customer experiences help build a sense of community in our cities.
An amazing selection of camera gear. They have photo and video gear to sell and rent as well. They also have photo development services. Their used gear is on the lite side if that's what you're looking for. The staff is always friendly and helpful.
With Black's Photography now gone, I go to Henry's because it is close to my work area. I only go there because of convience. It has been time, and time, and time again, that I have been so severely disappointed with their customer service.
I am the last thing that's important to that staff. I have waited for them to end their own personal conversations with the colleagues, it's not until their done that I get some service. And there's always am abundance of staff that could help me by giving me putting in the printer code, or ringing me through, but I'm always left waiting, and waiting.
Today I went in and got some photos printed, I asked them if they could please trim the 4 X 6 photos, into Instagram like squares. There was one photo I had used an app to put birthday decorations on the picture, I asked him to leave space to not cut off the decorations He acknowledged this, and said no worries. It was the first picture he would be trimming, so he wouldn't really forget Shortly after he got caught up in conversation with a colleague They made some sort of inside joke, and left me waiting. Why do I have to wait for you guys to have fun at work? My own time is just meaningless I guess.
Anyway, sure enough I went through the photos and he cut it off I wanted to go back, say something, get it reprinted, but I didn't have the time, or the energy.
I go to Henry's because it's a convenient location for me, and I can have them the same day for those last minute things But I guess I'll start using Black's online instead. I've just been disappointed too many times and foolish enough to keep going back.
It's great that a place like Henry's is still around. The best of the best and expertise to help you with every situation. Although it's impossible for them to compete price wise; these types of stores need to be supported imho. I will continue to shop here. Very friendly and helpful to beginners.
A great camera shop worth visiting over and over. Their no-pressure sales approach and knowledgeable associates make shopping for and selecting your next camera quite a breeze. Henry's offers a great warranty service and have a fantastic post-sales repertoire as well.
Not the best store. A lot of children behind counters. Not really helpful. This is also a dramatically expensive place. The same items can be purchased elsewhere for much less.
It was amusing listening to the salesperson trying to sell the extended warranties. These are there source of commission and a ripoff for the customer.
