The room was neat and beautifully decorated. The views towards Elizabeth Quay was breathtaking, especially at night.
Gross as place, weird wet stains in the hallway roof looked rusty and disgusting. Super old and run down, no air con, windows riveted shut, so you can't enjoy any fresh air except where it leaks through the old seals which is also covered in dirt, dust and gunk.
No view from the room cause of a huge tree, looks nothing like the pictures. No free Wi-Fi, TV reception was bad as. Toilet bowl was cracked and the bathtub was peeling away. Felt gross breathing in the air in building. The bed was so hard and springy it dug jnto my hips and the hallway should be inspected by someone..
"New" was a long, long time ago.
The view is great, but the building is worn down.
You rarely see any staff in the reception, people can come and go as they please, guests and others alike.
Ridiculous price for WiFi, we got ourselves two local SIM cards instead. And saved money.
Very rude staff, no greeting, very unfriendly and felt so put off from the beginning. The room was very dilapidated, and the "river view" was blocked by big tree. We were told we get our bond back after few working days but since now we still haven't received the one. Would highly NOT recommend it!
Health hazard!
Filthy place and money hungry managers.
The price is not worth the harm this place does to you mentally and physically,
NO HEATER OR AIRCON!!
And say good bye to your bank account. Because all the extra money you have to pay when you check out is pathetic. So many hidden rules that it cost more to stay here than it would've cost to stay at the beautiful holiday inn only a block away.
We stayed a couple of weeks ago and were disappointed when we saw the room, they don't look like the photo's advertised. There was rubbish still left down beside the bed and we found food left in the bathroom! There was two thin sheets for the bed and the heating average. The water in bathroom was scalding hot also. We got told for parking to pay through them ($30) instead of paying Wilson parking, thankfully we checked out the cost in the Wilson machine and it was only $21! Such a shame really as the hotel is in such a good location and if they spent a little bit of time and money updating the rooms and cleaning it wouldn't be a bad place to stay.
We asked for river view room.. didn't get one.. got a view of rio tinto building instead.. room was dingy. Bed small and uncomfortable. Bathroom had tiles missing. Holes in cupboard door. Musty smell. Soap dish hanging off wall. Only plus was location.. would never stay there again
Great location, friendly staff, decent rooms and reasonable rates.
Room wasn't clean stains on bedding, and the only view we had was of a filthy window the dirt was so thick you couldn't see anything let alone the river! We booked and paid for two nights but left after the first night it was so disgusting
Arrival was friendly however the room was disgusting. Windows were dirty, mini fridge had milk spilt all over it, the shower was horrific and the overall room needed renovating badly. I have no idea why they call it the 'new' esplanade hotel when it is extremely outdated. The beds didn't even have blankets only sheets. No breakfast or other facilities and parking is expensive. On top of all of this I left a special ring in my room and called up to ask for them to put it aside. The man I spoke to on the phone was extremely rude and told me to come back as soon as possible as he couldn't put it aside for me. As I live far away I explained I would be back on the weekend and he said there is a possibility it could be stolen by staff. Absolutely terrible I'll be back but only to complain and get my ring back if it's even there still. Do not recommend.
Reception was not welcoming and frankly, quite rude when we arrived. There also seemed to be a fee for everything. There where so many rules and possible hidden charges that I was hesitant to even wrinkle the sheets. For the location of the hotel, I would expect higher quality service as well as a clean room. We were welcomed with scuffs on the walls, dirty counter tops, and fraying carpets. The "New" Esplanade seemed to be very cheaply renovated. Would not recommend, there are better quality hotels in the area.
