An example of how an effective hospital should be run. Thank God I live in Australia!

I had my baby here recently and had a great experience. The birth centre features 8 birthing suites and one spa which can be used if your waters have not broken. I found it very midwife led (which I wanted) with the OB only arriving for delivery. They were extremely respectful of my birth plan to have a natural birth. Had to ask for gas, it wasn’t offered despite the fact I visibly needed something to get through! If you want drugs I feel like you need to be very specific about this from the start.
I found the post birth care top notch. Very supportive with a big emphasis on lactation support, better than most private hospitals. There is 2 to a room and 4 to a bathroom, it was very hard to rest and recouperate after birth due to noise etc. will definitely attend Sandy again for future babies, this time with my own midwife/doula
    Pros:
    - accessible little hospital with top notch care
    - midwife led birth centre
    - excellent post birth care/lactation support
    - supports natural birth
    Cons:
    - midwives gave varying advice (feel like this is universal to all hospitals though)
    - hard to sleep in the antnatal ward and partners cannot stay

I went to the emergency dept. with upper abdominal pain and wait time was minimal, about 30-40 minutes. Admitted with a gammy gall bladder that spiraled into uncontrolled pain. The staff were FANTASTIC, from the emergency department through to ward and theatre staff. A great blend of tons of experience to beginners, but always the best staff at hand to ensure everything was done properly. Sandy hospital will be my first stop for any future emergency concerns.

Amazing doctors and nursing staff. Father admitted for respiratory failure and pneumonia. Care and communication was unbelievable. Huge thanks to Linda and Hannah in Emergency and Dr. Lucy for all your efforts and care.

As I live close by this is the best emergency section I know of. They are as fast as humanly possible to serve everyone. I have been here 3 times for my teenage son although not life threatening still things to get the being in my neck pulsing

I gave birth to my daughter here a week ago and I honestly couldn't be happier with the level
of care I received. The staff were caring, friendly and professional and I felt really well supported throughout the whole experience. I really can't fault them and would highly recommend to other pregnant women.

The old lady at reception with short hair and glasses is incredibly rude. I had specific instructions from the ambos to go through to emergency to sit with my friend who had a dislocated knee and was distressed. the lady at reception told me to sit and wait. so i did. 20 minutes later i get a call from the friend crying and asking where i was. the nurses with her told me to speak to reception and come through. so i did, and the lady was absolutely horrible treating me like a child, telling me "go sit down and theyll get you when theyre ready". If you cant at least be nice then you shouldnt be working in reception at all.

Fantastic staff and Doctors. We usually use the RCH but after a recent experience cannot recommend the Sandringham hospital enough.

    Thank you so very much.

I have had my baby there 6 days ago: amazing! The entire team is doing their best to make our stay an unforgettable moment! From the wonderful midwifes, nice nurses, great doctors, caring cleaning staff to the sweet people who bring the meals: all of them have been so kind! Thank you!
