I’ve had 3 surgeries at St V’s since 2009, two of which were major, and to my mind it is the best hospital in Melbourne. The care is exemplary from intake to discharge. Highly recommended

This is a very nice hospital all the staff there
are very nice and friendly. The hospital is very clean and modern. There's also a very nice clean cafe on the ground floor with really nice food there. My wife loved it there!

Definitely coming back to this Hospital! 💙

I was a patient there in Nov 2016. The maternity care is fantastic. I read the review by K Ok and disagree with their opinion. I was given thorough information about natural and surgical birthing options, by my obstetrician and the birth classes offered by St Vincent's private hospital. I ended up having a planned c section due to the size of my baby. The doctor gave me the pros and cons of all birthing options and let me decided which was best for me in terms of recovery, mindful of giving birth safely to a healthy baby of course. I could have had a natural birth but was told the possible implications and inevitable interventions required to get my baby out as she would have likely gotten stuck and the impact on my recovery afterwards. My recovery has been smooth sailing.
The midwifery care was exceptional. I didn't want to go home! The food was great. I actually miss the place! If I have any more children, I wouldn't hestitate to return. Well done to all the health professionals working in that ward!

My stay was excellent due to the wonderful nursing , medical and service staff. Even the wonderful staff who delivered my food and morning and afternoon teas were friendly and helpful. I couldn't fault any who work there, particularly all staff on the seventh floor . Connie, Debbie and Mimi in particular were fantastic, very caring and gentle with me. My wonderful surgeon visited me every day and my anesthetist visited me also. I couldn't have had a better experience in what was a worrying time..

Ridiculous and terrible. Waited over 2 hours at the ER and no doctor saw to my mum. This is a private hospital like no others.

Welladmission was a pain. But like some of the reviews herethe nurses and doctors are quite attentive.

I regrettably chose this hospital to delivery my baby. I thought this was a hospital that used modern and advanced birthing techniques to deliver babies normally because going by all the information you will come across anywhere will always tell you normal birth is best.

I was wrong and the information we are given is wrong. I suffered extensive injuries to pelvic floor and the hospital classes and doctors will never tell you about it. They do not even offer you the right information to begin with in order to be able to make informed decisions about your birth.

Women have the right to know the risks of normal birth too not just the risks of c section which clearly leaves the decision to be made for them. At no point are the risks of normal birth highlighted to women.

Had I have known that the hospital was decades behind modern science is in regards to maternal care I would have chosen another hospital and would not have been left with the permanent injuries I now have because of the damaging methods that were used on me. I had put all my faith in these "professionals" to do what is best and right for me as a patient.

It's 2016 and St Vincent's I hope you improve your standards and update them to what the science is showing you. Your institution does not seem to care to protect women's pelvic floor during labour and advise women of the risks of vacuum and forceps which your statistics are pretty high in, while the fancy birthing classes are sugar coating all this crucial information to what women in your labour suites really endure and what really happens.

Anyone who is in doubt look up the recent research of Professor Peter Dietz at the University of NSW who's research is also documented on the Ranzcog website.

The entire system is a joke. Withelding crucial information which would enable women to make their own informed choices instead of glossing over and convincing women that normal birth is best for them when it's not always.

And you can bet that if you do sustain injuries like I did because of the incompetent staff who managed my birth, St Vincent's specialists and doctors who all support each other and their industry will tell you it's all normal and that you should just live with the unbearable pain and discomfort until such time you complete your family.

I share this because I feel strongly the level of care for women and the quality of life for women is really not a serious issue. So I urge women to protect themselves and make the right decisions.
