The good, the staff are very good, very professional. Rooms are clean.

The room I stayed in on the 12 floor needs an upgrade. Looks like it hasn't been updated since the 90's. The toilet systern screws were half hanging out. The fridge was extremely hot on top, the freezer had ice in it but the contents in the door were warm. Above the bed next to the down light was a sizable hole. The curtains were stained. For the price I paid the room was as expected. Rydges once upon a time had a great name, it is sad to see that maintenance has fallen behind and the rooms are not updated. The car park was over full, 3 cars deep in areas. I used to stay at the Blackman art series which was part of this chain, and really can't believe the difference between quality.

Room size was fine for what we needed. All staff members were great to deal with. Loved that they gave a fake sign saying parking is full so that their hotel guest would have a spot to park.

If anyone is looking for a great deal on hotels you can see them on HotelRaven. com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around

My husband and I spent the weekend in Melbourne for our wedding anniversary and choose Rydges for our accommodation. We found it very welcoming and clean. It met all our needs and was in a great position for us to catch the free tram around Melbourne checking out the sights. Would recommend it if your after a comfortable place to stay.

The rooms are spacious. The location is good as it is in the free tram zone. There are lots of restaurants around and also easily accessible to all the public transport facilities and closer to flinders street station.

Nice hotel. The rooms are clean and well presented. Although not the largest rooms or bathrooms.
Has both a casual dining area plus a restaurant and bar.
Small gym area plus a heated rooftop pool.

Somewhat u underwhelmed. The gym is 3 neglected machines standing by a reasonable pool. Instant coffee in room. Comfy bed and pillows. Bathroom very cramped. View enjoyable. Location great.

Rydges in Melbourne is quite a nice hotel. Service was fantastic, right from walking in the door, to checking out 4 days later. The room itself (Queen Spa Suite) was not too bad, other than some general wear and tear. It was a decent size, and had a nice set up. This being said, unfortunately, as we had gotten the room predominately for the bath, we were very dissapointed to find that it was incredibly small, and not worth the price we paid for the room. If the overall stay had been about $100-$75 cheaper ($558 for 3 nights) then this hotel would have been great. It was just a bit too expensive.

Absolutely nothing wrong with this hotel. Fantastic service and excellent bedding. But it feels dated. What was white, has yellowed. Carpets look worn-in. The shower and toilets are cramped. The TV's are a bit fuzzy. The place feels tired. But alas, for what I needed, it complied and satisfied. The best word to describe would be "reasonable".

We stayed in this lovely hotel again on the weekend. Staff are so welcoming from first booking to our check in and our dinner in Loconda restaurant was simply delicious. Carl the restaurant manager was great as were the friendly waitresses. Breakfast was also very good. The beds are so comfortable. All in all this hotel met all our needs and we will be back again soon.

Central and Pleasant. Great for those who wish to be close to the theatre. The decor was pleasant and the bar and restaurant was buzzing on Friday night. Rooms were spacious, clean and well appointed. Staff were friendly and helpful. No complaints here.

A nice hotel, but very overpriced and overrated. Pool and gym were much worse than advertised, our room was small, and there was absolutely no smoking area. Would definitely choose another hotel next time based on the proce here.

We attended a wedding reception at Rydges. The service was impeccable. The venue was nice as well. However, the food was lacking. Change the chef)))

Kept hearing people slamming their doors as they left their rooms. No bedside charger :( Staff were friendly and very quick to help me check-in and checkout. Breakfast buffet wasn't bad either.

Great location in the city. Walkable to almost anywhere in the CBD and surrounding areas. Staff is super friendly. The restaurant and bar serves up a pretty tasty steak but as a resident of NSW, I had no idea what a pot of beer was, was very confused when the bartender asked if I wanted a pot. Rooms are clean, a bit dated, but nice. But again, you should be outside in Melbourne and not in your room

    ARRIVAL/LOBBY
The hotel was quite dimly lit, which made it look a little dark and gloomy. Though generally nicely laid out, the dark carpets and dark lighting didn’t do anything great for the hotel.

    CHECK-IN
The check in process was relatively simple and quick. The front desk clerk was friendly, efficient and welcoming.
We were able to check in to our room immediately.

    ROOM
We were given room 1905, queen room. The room was nice and respectfully clean, however it was showing its age. The old wooden cupboard and bar were dated and a bit of an eyesore, and could easily and rather (somewhat) inexpensively upgraded and made more modern. The under window mounted air conditioner was also quite old and struggling with the unusual Melbourne heat, although the filter was clean, the grills were broken and were not able to direct the air flow efficiently.
The bed and pillows were VERY comfortable and had no problem sleeping at all, although our sheets had some holes in them.
The curtains and windows were clean.
The bathroom was clean and respectable, although lacked any great size. Bathroom cabinet (sink area) was quite limited, so little room to place your personal belongings and the toilet quite close the wall and door, meaning larger people would struggle somewhat ( Im 5”6 and 64kg)

    BREAKFAST
Our booking included buffet breakfast. The choice was pretty good. Cereal, fruit, eggs, bacon, sausages, pastries and more.
We had some quality issues with the breakfast, particularly on our last day. Our last day the eggs were cold, the bacon was cold and extremely chewy as they had cooked up way too much to early and then just let it sit out all morning. The staff on all mornings we had breakfast appeared grumpy. One member of staff even walked passed complaining to another how much she hated her job, right in front of us eating.
The coffee bar seems to a be a dumping ground for dirty cups and plates, which makes going up to order a coffee rather off-putting. At the end of breakfast on all 3 days, the bar was over stacked with dirty dishes, piled rather high and wide.

    POOL
The pool area is situated on the roof top with views over the city and was great area for a dip. The pool is sufficiently sized for a dozen people or so, although there are only a few chairs and beds due to the space. None the less a great area, but there were quite a tiny spiders that would crawl up our legs while sunbathing, so might need a bit of pesticide spray attention.

    CLEANLINESS
The hotel was pretty clean as was our room, but there was large amount of scuff marks on pretty much every wall, elevator, coffee bar in the restaurants which just showed a lack of detail and attention to cleaning. These are things that can easily be attended to on an ongoing basis, and became quite noticeable throughout the hotel.

    OVERALL
I would stay here again. We got a great price and I’m a member. However there were a few things that could have been improved with little to no cost to the hotel that would have made the stay much more befitting a 4 star hotel, such as staff attitude in the dining room, the lighting and the general overall attention to detail.
