the location is wonderful, located very close to the heart of melbourne. There are many interesting streets nearby and the service is great too

I visited this place as part of Melbourne Open House - an annual Melbourne event that opens some of the restricted doors to the public. The building itself is steeped in history.
It was the first place in Melbourne to ever have working toilets as we know it. The original work can be see added on to the building from the rear entrance of the hotel.
It was also the first place to have a working elevator.
I also learned, that the side streets can be privately owned and these people are currently making a fortune from allowing the public to access it!response / report this review -

The intercontinental hotel is a beautiful building to walk into. I was in a conference room located one floor below the main entrance off Collins Street. The room was comfortable enough and had the amenities required for the presentation.

I had a meeting at the Intercontinental Hotel this week and has never been there before. I was unsure where to go once inside & the staff were very helpful pointing me in the correct direction. Very helpful customer service! Would consider staying here as a guest.

I arrived quite late so had to have room service where the food was a bit disappointing. The hot aspect of breakfast was equally underwhelming the continental option alone is better. The welcome was excellent and the staff were all great. I had a room which faced inwards which is a little dark and depressing even in the day.

Great old building. It's a Frequent location we use for events. Common consensus amongst colleagues is that "it's a great place, but customer service could do with a bit of work"

Excellent mid-city meeting place. The management staff were exceedingly attentive, and where there was a small error in service they were quick to make amends. Highly recommend.

The lobby had a bathroom. It was worth the trip. I initially wanted to just walk through to the next street but there was no door. The lobby was amazing, but didn't get a chance to check the cafe menu for prices

I haven't had the pleasure of staying overnight but the hotel looks amazing with all the exposed brickwork. We were going to a restaurant there and the staff were so helpful with directions and offered to walk us to where we had to go. One leaving, even the door man outside was pleasant. I have to say the little dealing we had with the staff, their service was impeccable.

Lovely hotel with clean rooms and good facilities. Gym and pool were good for a city hotel. I booked with IHG points and I got upgraded. Nice one night stay to watch a concert.

Spoke with Ben and Medi on the phone earlier this evening for a very small request, chasing up a copy of an invoice. It was such a pleasant and easy going process. A couple of call back and forward but they were nice and patient with me and were more than willing to assist.

Amazing heritage building with well equipped rooms. Want let this place down is most of the rooms are internal facing onto a central atrium. Didn't feel as busy and lively as other Intercontinental I have experienced. More of a 'Boutique' style. Good service but and friendly staff however I don't think will book again as not really my type of place

We've stayed here a few times now. We like to stay in their club suites which are nice and relaxing. Sadly we coped a lot of construction noise which no one can help. Breakfast buffet was average. Slop scrambled egg cold bacon everything was cold even when bought out "fresh". Service is perfect polite and not in your face. The professional level of service and comfort intercontinental offers makes what it is. Very nice.
