In terms of location, you can't beat the Establishment Hotel in Sydney's Central Business District. The design style is sleek/modern.

It is the most convenient in terms of proximity to all public transit (trains, buses, and ferries).

For a five star hotel, however, I expected a slightly more new feel to the rooms. The carpet was clearly a bit worn. The hotel itself would be perfect for a young professional that wants to be close to bars/pubs and high-end shopping. I would not recommend this to my more Bohemian/Hippy friends- I'd send them to Surry Hills and tell them it's worth the extra walk to the bus stops. I would also not recommend this hotel for families or people looking for a more soft interior design style- it has the aesthetic of a New York City bachelor pad.

There is also not much of a lobby/hotel amenity presence. So, if you like to have hotel pools, lounges, or other public places in the hotel where you can read/not be entirely in your room, this is not the spot for you.

What I did appreciate about this was that they do clean your room daily, no questions asked, and provide you with two bottles of water every day.

I think all hotels should provide guests the option for an alcohol-free mini bar, as well.

Kicked out on Thu Mar 30th for no reason: first myself, then a colleague, then another colleague. Just five men (us and client) between the ages of 35-50 having a civilized after-dinner drink on ground level. Needless to say, we won’t be giving them any more business.

Good hotel, good location, lovely room. Just don’t get a view A’s it’s between the building. Overall, excellent.

First off, I LOVED this hotel and always looked forward to our visits to Sydney and stays at The Establishment. Unfortunately, the hotel had deteriorated so much that we had to check out after one night. This place is filthy and run down. This is far from a 5-star hotel. The lovely breakfast in the atriumGONE, replaced with room service with four options on the menu so you can eat in your filthy room or a dingy, dark bar off the lobby with gnats flying around. Yuck. The carpet is stained, the furniture is worn, and every part of the hotel looks dirty. The walls are paper thin, so you hear everything from outside noise to the elevator shaft and anyone walking on your floor. The noise has always been an issue, but we looked past it because it was such a fun and unique hotel. Shame on Merivale for allowing this wonderful hotel to deteriorate to such a dismal state. On a positive note, Brittney at the front desk was fantastic.

    Accommodation is not recommended.
Very loud from garbage trucks and people screaming through the streets all night, impossible to get any rest. It was also a week night. The room was dirty, stains everywhere, very dark and the mini bar obviously not sorted through as there was an open bottle of soft drink in the fridge.
Also extremely loud noise from the plumbing in the room above, it would bang every time the person used a tap, and pipe noises the whole time the shower was being used, absolutely impossible to sleep with that sort of noise.
The next morning, the cleaners in the next room were extremely loud. Door banging and complete disregard for the guests staying in adjoining room.
Overall building is very outdated, lifts dirty and noisy. The only nice element was the foyer area but that's where it stopped. I cannot comment on the restaurant, as I didn't dine there.

Brilliant place to meet for a drink. Customer base tends to be a of a higher class of people. Staff are friendly. The layout for the bar is great for service making getting drinks extremely quick regardless of how busy it is. Well set out! Recommended!

It was basically okay until we got to the function room we'd booked. The music wasn't loud enough and after the function was over we were refused entry to our pre booked room at the next venue. They lost some of our expensive balloons between event finish and entry refusal. Very poor experience. Lots of money spent for a bad outcome.
Also no remote for Apple TV in the room, shower which leaked into bathroom, and no volume control for stereo. Overall wanted to be a high end hotel but failed at the details and service.

Classic and classy hotel in the city. Attracts trendy crowd. Location is perfect as it is in the city, and is walking distance from office, restaurants and plenty of amenities. The Mr Wong restaurant and Palmer bar at this hotel are fabulous. Definitely recommend reservations for the dining options.

Went here for a celebration. Quite nice. Good staff. Pretty much what you'd expect in a club/bar but with above average choices in RnB songs. Twas a good night

Nice place with something unique in their decor and atmosphere.

Attended an event here (not stay) and following Google Map directions you'll be taken you the reception area which is different you where the rest of the hotel is. Bit odd layout. Lifts (function room) also old and can't take too many guests without buzzer going off.

Went for breakfast here with two others, was completely surprised. Amazing internal covered courtyard, wonderfully lit and decorated. Food was well-priced, reasonably portioned and lovely taste. Nice mix of standard options and more artisan style options. Good coffee and other hot drinks. Friendly service, nil issues.

Too many people crammed too tight with too bad music. Beer was decent though, but the bar was slow

I attended a function at this hotel. It was hard to find the function rooms - the entrance is via George Street, and you have to catch the lift to get to the rooms. The room was nicely decorated and equipped, and the food was tasty, if not plentiful.

If anyone is looking for a great deal on hotels you can check it out on HotelRaven. com Booked a room on there and they had the cheapest rates around

I stayed there on the weekend and it was honestly the best hotel I have ever been to. The room was huge and it was all modern looking with the stained wood features and the bathroom that had a double basin. The huge bathtub (fits two people by the way), helps you warm up after a long night out in the cold.
The place came with T2 tea, cookies and water bottles. Our breakfast was included in our package and it was magnificent- a $28 breakfast for free. Chose the Big Breakfast and a Smoothie. The Breakfast area was beautiful with all the bamboo and greenery as well as a water feature. Made my first trip to Sydney a memorable one. All the staff were lovely and I couldn't have asked for better service. When I come back to Sydney I will definitely be staying here!!
