Fun for the whole family Make sure you book if you want a table. Pool for adults and kiddies pool! Kiddies play area too. Beautiful view. Cocktails and dancing in the evenings.
There are always events happening, people frequenting, tourists and locals, heels and bikinis! Stunning ocean views as you sit on the water and the quality of sushi is amazing, I also really enjoyed eating their seafood! Definitely go for that over salads or pizza as the fish is their specialty!
When I’m in Cpt - i always want to hang in the sun for a while- reading, just chilling with a view and on a cozy sun bed. Caused by the wind it’s often hard to find a beach to lay down without being peeled by the sand constantly.
The only place where you can stay in the sun when it’s that windy is this beach club. It’s a bit fancy but not too much. I love the service, the view, reasonable prices and the modern atmosphere. The beach menu is perfect, the drinks as well. Dinner is also food. Love the dumplings :)
I would recommend that place ❤️
Shimmy Beach Club is undoubtedly one of the most ideally located beach clubs on the continent. It's premium prices and and walk (to) is well worth the effort, impeccable views engulfed by a backdrop of the ocean. Fantastic menu selections and an equally potent collection of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages What do I think of Shimmy Beach Club? GREAT location for events!!
A decent club experience with a killer view. Not really worth the hype and if you want an exclusive experience, spend the extra coin on a VIP ticket. It's worth it if you want to miss the overcrowded bars and want access to special dance areas. Crowd is young and the dress code is contemporary (wear wedges because the dance floor is literally sand). Black Coffee was amazing and the opening acts were entertaining. Drinks are slightly more expensive than your average bar but par for the course for an upmarket venue.
If you are looking for the perfect spot for summer parties then this is where to go. It has everything - views, pool, alcohol, DJ's and beach sand. A big venue with great food as well. Whether it's lunch, dinner or partying until the sun rises you can do it all at Shimmy.
We had our staff party here and it was great! The service was wonderful and friendly and it had lovely views of the sea. Great dance floor ides with the beach sand. Just the unisex bathroom wasn't the best, however it was a large party, and there wasn't much food to go around at the event, however don't think it was Shimmys fault, the food I had was delicious!
Good morning Yvett and Team

Amazing venue. Can’t wait to go back there. Great food, incredible service- the team understand the idea of going the extra mile. Well done guys
Shimmy Beach Club is 3 Venues: a Club, a Beachbar (currently undergoing renovations) and what was introduced to us as "Shimmy Fine Dining". My revue focuses on the later.
The restaurant itself is tastefully furnished. However, there are two TVs airing soccer matches, that sort of ruin the fine dining experience. The waiters are attentive, but botch the basics. In the beginning, our waitress introduced herself and then the venue. She started "when you have kids" - I chimed in "we don't" - but still she told her clearly rehearsed story about child care available. When we ordered a wine, she came back saying "there are only two bottles left so it isn't available". What? Furthermore, she could not recommend a substitute. The food was very good and we still enjoyed our night out. but if a place classifies itself as "fine dining", I expect better.
A place for the A-list. Interior design very modern and upmarket. Bar facilities and well as food.
Such an elegant place to spend the time with lover. It kind of living place. Atmosphere is very attractive inside and outside. Great view. Foods are delicious but high price scale ..
Nice enough place. Don't come from the food but I am sure has a great atmosphere when it is busy (and the waiter was great)
On the harbour. Limited parking close. Nice view. Inside outside. Bar area. Crowds. Relaxing. Restaurant. Big groups. Sun set.
Good location and larger venue. Great for events. Very expensive cocktails and food.
Great for live music. Quite pricey, go when you want to treat yourself. Best in the summer.
This place definitely does live up to the hype! I went here yesterday for the first time to celebrate and event, and was really impressed! The layout and design oozes decadence and the Cape Town lifestyle.
During the day, this place is excellent for drinks, cocktails, canapes or lunch. You can even bring the kids, as there is a pool for the kids with 2 lifeguards on duty.
There is a separate menu if you're sitting outside, but this might not be the best option, as there is a lot of flies in the vicinity due to the location in the docks and the stench in the area, hence only 5 stars.
At night, the place transforms into a clubbing mecca. The main stage has hosted residencies from the likes of Goldfish and Black Coffee.
The views from here are really awesome and takes you away.
But the real hidden gem here, is there menu, as the foods are REALLY tasty and delicious! Their chilli poppers are easily the best I have ever had! The party I was with, we even ordered at least 3 servings of their chocolate brownie dessert. It was THAT good!!!
They also have an impressive wine selection(Do try the Glen Carlou Chardonnay), but it is a bi pricey.
I definitely will be back!
It's good for what it is, a club for corporate and other events and an interesting meal / drinks option the rest of the time.
There are expansive dining and drinking spaces at the back and to the sides of the central shoreline sandy 'beach' space. Basically an area filled up with beach sand, with a central smallish square pool, with glass sides protruding above the ground. There's a semi-permanent music / events stage right on the edge of the water.
To get to the club, on entering the Waterfront from the N1-side, you head towards the new Zeitz Museum, but swing right just before you get to the museum to follow the 'South Arm Road' past some dockside fish processing plants. At the end of the dock you turn left into what looks like a warehouse / fisheries area. The Club is just through the gate to the right.
During the day you're welcome to use the main pool, described above, as well as a kiddies pool a little ways to the side, as long as you order something to eat or drink.
The setting is quite unique, with the working harbour behind you and the main breakwater across some open water. You see ships and boats coming in and out of the harbour and Table Bay stretching out in the back.
Shimmy has a very 'glitz & glamour' -type brand, but during the day - when there's no events taking place - it is actually rather laid-back. Personally I prefer a real beach like Camps Bay, but for a different dining experience, perhaps while the kids take a dip, Shimmy offers a rather novel alternative.
So my son visited the Shimmy Beach Club from Sydney Australia last night, he walked up to one of the bouncers to notify him of glass on the dance floor (prior to that lying in the sand where people walk bare feet), and as a reward he got a smack in the face - yes thanks to the manager who could apparently not speak to the bouncers as the bouncers are to aggresivegave according to him and did not speak English - wow at least he offered him a drink for solace. Would you feel safe sending your daughter there where not even the Shimmy manager can control/understand his own bouncers.
Beautiful venue with a view to die for. Great place to relax as the sun sets over Cape Town whilst listing to Dj's spinning some great dance music. The security on entering the club can be a cultural shock, with the heavy armed guards placing a damper on the mood somewhat. However the atmosphere does change later as some patrons do over indulge a bit to much. Don't forget to take a sweater as the wind can get chilly.
