Great location for no-frills accomodation. Easy to reach from CPT Airport. Staff very welcoming and accomodating. Only 4 stars as the area is a bit out of the centre, so keep in mind you’ll have to move around a bit to experience the vibrant city.

The hotel is a let down, I cant believe its a Protea Hotel. The furniture is old and worn out, the basement parking smells of sewage. The food is blend and very oily, their dinner menu is junk (sandwiches and burgers) they don't have real healthy food. Such a let down

Stayed three nights in a family room. Had a very comfortable stay.The location is excellent, close to V&A Waterfront. The rooms are clean with good view and has all the basic amenities. The staff members are very friendly and helpful.

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights for a city break on our way to Mauritius.
The hotel is a joint venture with the local university which shares the same campus.
The site is an old prison which used to house white prisoners that worked building the old dock area nearby.
The is some odd the original internal structures and features which give it a nice old heritage feel.
Is only a few minutes walk to the V&A Waterfront which is great for shopping, easing or just chilling.
Lovely modern bedroom with great shower room.
The staff are helpful and friendly and the whole site is clean and tidy.
Overall, a really good hotel in a great location.

Fantastic hotel in a great location right by the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. We had a family room - actually two rooms behind a single main door, with shared bathroom and loo. Perfect for parents and two kids. Hotel was clean, modern and safe. Breakfast was extra but good value - an enormous buffet.

Originally a prison, this unique hotel offers beautiful rooms, great views and a quiet comfortable stay to their guests. Good service. Enjoyed a nice lunch in the café, but went out for other meals.

That's a good place to stay. The hotel is part of a business school present in the same former prison facilities. The family rooms are small but functional. Internet insanity fussy to set up (you need to renew your lease at least once a day), but it is pretty fast. The restaurant probably finds it hard to compete with the nearby Waterfront restaurants. The biggest plus of the hotel is both the friendly staff and the excellent location.
