I was there a few times and I felt undermined by the stuff in the wards. However when my two babies where NICU for two months, the nurses there were supportive and just really the best and what we needed to go through the rough patch.

On the 5th of December 2017 my son was admitted to Mulberton high care unit,at reception i was attended and welcomed with a warm smile.upon arrival at high care i was greeted and warm welcomed by staff members(staff nurse and Sr ,white lady with short hair..Im sorry i can't recall their names)the staff nurse took care of my son,since he had elevated Bp and dizziness,the staff nurse made it her duty to assist him with going to the toilet,I would like to take this opportunity to say to her"I am eternally greatfull and thankful ,she offered emotional support to him the whole night.Also pass my sincere appreciation and gratitude to the other Nurse( i dont know her name) who also offered him counselling and support throughout the night,she went above the call of duty by taking my son's contacts to check on him.This are the nurses that gives the nursing profession and Mulberton a good name in our country and hope to helpless patients.

Pre-op, I got wheeled out of the ward to a "Wating Area" which was a glorified storeroom/ thoroughfare with curtains, where I was left for 1hour and 20 minutes, waiting to go into theatre. This area had old machinery packed against a wall with a stationery type cupboard in the corner and a table with a number of Journals with dates on them. People were walking in and out through this area, opening and closing the curtains constantly and on the opposite side there was a section, also curtained off, with parts of beds and trolleys. Somewhere behind this area was a staff room or else a very noisy area. The receptionist was reprimanding one of the staff members for all the noise, but she was also using a loud tone. What an appalling place to be just prior to an operation and being able to do anything to anything about it.

Lazy nursing staff, don’t respond at all, no sense of accountability, no one answers main switchboard phone, lots of excuses etc etc Keep driving and rather use the UNION netcare in Alberton

My 20 month old daughter had a fever waited two and a half hours no doctor to be seen we left as we were told that the doctor still had to attend to other patients before us and there was no estimation how long he/she was going be before they could attend to my little girl. These professionals discourage peopke from going to the emergency room. I wonder what the cost of life is in the end as one wonders is it actually worthwhile taking your child in as the doctors don't treat the situation seriously. A disgrace to the medical profession.

Dont recommend anyone giving birth here. My experience of this hospital is also very bad , when i gave birth to my boy in 2015, they had no pain killers, although i went in a week before and arranged with them that my preferred pain killer is gas, they tried to coherse me into having a caesar as it seems they all wanted to go to bed AND not be put up with my natural progression of labour, i outrightly refused. When the baby was coming out the trainee nurse was unaware as she was on her phone and when she finally realised what was happening she frantically called the sister whom i also didnt see as much help in the process of my childs birth instead to help me tear

I was admitted to Mulbarton this morning into the sleep lab for 5 days. This unit is situated in the day ward. upon arrival to the unit i proceeded to the toilet which is also shared by the day ward patients. The toilet was disgusting, it was full of faeces and blood and was blocked. I reported this to Pride who called housekeeping to sort it out. After 20 minutes I went back to the toilet only to find it in that disgusting state. Pride took me to the staff toilet which was also dirty and the toilet seat was broken off. While walking back to my room I seen the floor as well as the counters were filthy. I immediately told Pride as well as Paul who is the Neuro technician that I refuse to stay a minute longer in a hospital which is supposed to be clean and germ free. Paul called management as he had also noticed the state the ward was in. The cleaning staff and unit manager came into the ward and tried to convince me to stay and promised to have the ward clean. Paul advised me that the unit wasn't in use for a week hence the ward being dirty. Pride and Paul were very helpful and apologetic. I will never set foot into Mulbarton again

Had a 3 night stay at the hospital, my medical aid and admission was a breeze. From the Nurses to the Orderlies all were friendly and helpful. Not a bad stay.
