The staff were accommodating, friendly and warm. Made my 4 day stay at the Maternity Ward really easy and comfortable. I would definately recommend this hospital to anyone. All the staff from front reception to the wards were great!
Emergency security & admin staff extremely unprofessional. First the Infrared Temperature Gun security used was not working correctly and showing "battery low" and flashing red. I was repeatedly told by the security lady that my temperature is high. I explained her to read the screen as it was indicating battery low and this is why its flashing red. she kept scanning me for about 10 times in the face and neck while I was attending to my wife who was about to collapse in the emergency waiting room. Then I was asked to fill our about 15 pages includimg a docket with all my details which surely the administrative staff should've done. I thought this was the last of our troubles but no, a car rocked up full of unruly characters shouting and speaking in a gang language. Rushed into the emergency room with one of them being shot. It was about 5 of them. The security that scanned me from head to toe now just sits and watches everything too scared to ask them to sign in or be scanned. They went straight to the back into the emergency room where patients and my wife was. I was told I cannot go there due it COVID regulations but now that it was gangsters they walked right in. To top it off the screaming member who was shot is now on the bed next to my wife shouting in pain causing all the other patients and my wife to wake up in fear because there are more unruly characters in their space. My wife was discharged 2 hours later while I waited in the car, no assistance and walking out of the hospital in a daze. No wheelchair no support from staff. I had to run over to assist her. So to anyone that thinks of going to this hospital, please do not waste your time and money. The doctors didn't pick up that my wife's condition was caused by a gall bladder issue and a day later we rushed her again to constantiaberg hospital, dehydrated and in pain. She was assisted by excellent staff and I only had to initial few pages and sign once. Everything else was taken care of. Stay away peeps. If you guys review this check the CCTV footage of 29th of August 2020 @ around 8:30PM to 22:30PM
My relative was admitted to Tokai Melomed with COVID-19 a month ago and had her life saved. The service and care she recieved was wonderful. They have an excellent group of Doctors who deal with anything from lungs to the heart. truly the best specialists. l highly recommend this hospital.
I am so disgusted by the level of service by the reception staff. I just spoke to one of your receptionist whom is male whilst still talking to him he dropped the phone on me.
Poor service.
Honestly, I have never had a better experience visiting a hospital. From the admin staff, to the nurses, to the doctor himself, I genuinely felt well cared for and this helped reduce the stress of my first ever surgery.
A truly world class facility and all should be commended. Please ensure this commendation makes its way to the staff, they deserve it.
I arrived in the trauma unit the service was speedy and professional. I was transferred to a general ward sister Lisa was brilliant. In ICU I received total professsional care under Dr Thuli. A very modern hospital with state of the art equipment. Thank you
I was admitted on Friday, 16 February for High blood pressure. The next morning, Dr Naidoo (who was brilliant) ordered a c.t. Scan. When radiology came through, they explained they could not get through to our medical aid and wanted me to sign a waiver. I asked for a few minutes just to confirm with my husband and radiology said it was fine and just to inform the nursing staff to let them know my decision. 15 minutes later, I asked the nurse to inform radiology it was fine, I would sign the form and please to go ahead with the scan. By late afternoon, radiology had still not come. I asked the nurse to follow up and was told they would be along soonest. The next morning, they had still not come. I complained to the sister in charge who followed up and confirmed that radiology was busy with one more patient and would be along. By the time Dr Naidoo came around it was 10:15am and still they had not come. Doctor called and asked them to please do the scan soonest. Radiology collected me just before 11am. They were very surprised that I had been waiting since yesterday for the scan as the nurses had not contacted them at all!! Now the scan is finally done (11:40am) and I am waiting for results, after which (God willing) I will be dischargedAnd what? Melomed is going to charge me for another day?!!
Ridiculous! 😡
I had 2 procedures there and my youngest was delivered there.
I was very happy with the staff and doctors.
Had an excellent experience at Melomed Tokai's paediatric ward, reception was more than helpful, the nurses were caring and always there to assist and the food was the best hospital food I've had. Really good experience , thanks
I was assisted within 5 minutes. The nurses are polite and helpful. The doctors go out of their way to assist and always consult on a decisions. The hospital is clean and beautiful. I was impressed with their service.
I had the worst experience of my life in this hospital. When I arrived alone with a mangled finger, bleeding profusely, I was told by the man at the counter (who was on his cellphone) to "SIT DOWN MAM", the way he spoke to me the rest of the night was unbelievably rude. I was the only person in the emergency room and it took 3 hours for 8 stitches(most of which was spent waiting to be seen). They then used the wrong sutures which were more expensive and charged me for that mistake.
Following that mistake I was told by the same man at the counter(whose name I know), that medical aid wouldn't pay. I then paid the bill, only to find out he never even contacted them and they would have covered it.
I started the process to claim back from medical aid and they told me that Melomed had now claimed (after I had already paid) AND medical aid had now paid as well!
I then started the process of claiming from melomed- this was a back and forth, filled with poorly trained staff and mounds of documents to prove I did pay Really?!
Now 7 visits and 6 phone calls later, I still have not been paid back! This is money that was paid off my credit card and is growing because of interest.
My advice to anyone in a crises is to avoid the additional trauma of dealing with the abysmal service and horrific mismanagement of melomed! Rather go to any public hospital.
I took my son to the emergency rooms, the doctor was great but I was told my son might need an operation ,the admin staff told me I would have to pay R44 000 as they don't accept our medical aid plan(Discovery Delta plan or Coastal saver plan) and they would not accept our gap cover,so be warned when you visit them as they do not disclose this on admission, please check on all Medical aids.I spoke to the manager on duty and he said this is there policy at Melomed Tokai but not at there other branches.
Quick competent service with first world facilities
Professional nursing and emergency services. Excellent paediatric Doctor.
This is supposed to be one of the best hospitals but I am disappointed with most of the service and I have received. I have brought it to the attention of the relevant manager. Most of the nurses encountered were amazing but the food and client service is non existent.
Thank you Melomed and specific the paediatric ward. Our little man - 6 months old - was recently admitted and everybody, from reception, nurses, cleaning and kitchen staff were friendly, helpful and utterly professional. Dr Liana van Dyk, it was an honour to meet you and thank you so much for the way you took care of mummy and baby. We will gladly recommend this medical facility to anyone.
Best hospital ⛨ experience ever, from the nurses and doctors to the kitchen and cleaning staff. The professionals work there not amateurs!
I recently had a 4 day stay (checking out yesterday 30\11\16) in Melowmed Tokai Clinic and can only complement them on every level of service delivery. I went from the trauma rooms, to Medial to surgical and all wards were impeccable! The staff at this hospital are all incredibly friendly and made my stay as comfortable as possible. I can not thank the ladies in the surgical ward enough for their efficiency and patience and to mention again their warm friendliness that made a hospital stay the best it could be. Thank you Melowmed!!!
